You are awesome for getting this done. Great job! It all looks amazing! I looked through your blog and videos and I couldn't find where the name of the Sherwin Williams paint color you used. Would you supply it please? Thank you!
I love what you did to your closet. Is it possible to get the dimensions of your shelves. My closet wall dimensions is 86" (12" deep)x122" (22" deep)x30"(15.75" deep) x43.5" (15.75" deep). I am having issues coming up with widths of the hanging section and cu by section. The hanging section will be the 122" wall and the cubby section will be the 86". The other two walls will have dressers.
Hi Stefani, nice work. A suggestion for future projects -- after doing a lot of built-ins and other work in my own house, I realized it was a lot easier for me to do as much pre-finishing as possible before installing and assembling everything. Sanding all the shelves and sides, and priming and painting of the plywood parts before installing, should make things much easier. Then you only have to sand and paint the trim once it's installed, but all the shelves and cavities and all of that will already be finished. Good luck!
REALLY beautiful work. I was just lamenting to my husband how none of the TH-cam DIYers do quality work, it's all what I call '50 footers', looks good from 50 feet away, but really terrible up close. You are the exception, quality work that will stand the test of time. And beautiful to boot! Well done!!
Ain't no way this video has been around for 4 years and I've been wasting countless hours on YT trying to find a really really good step by step closet makeover video. It's now 2024 and I can tell this is the best DIY video I've seen on here.
In Modern Living Rooms Everyone Using "SoundProof Curtains" That Stops Outside Noise by 80% (25 Db) Tested. Check Here: livesoundproof.com/best-soundproof-curtains/
I haven't watched the 3rd part yet but let me just say, this is the most beautiful and amazing closet makeover video I have seen on this website! You made it look so easy and doable, but I know how much work and effort would have gone into the whole thing. And recording the entire process must have added on to the effort as well. Really amazed and inspired by this!
MY GOODNESS MS. DIVA WITH THE TOOL BELT, YOU DID A FANTASTIC JOB..... I WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN IT WAS NOT PROFESSIONALLY DONE... ACTUALLY, YOUR SKILLS ARE JUST AS PROFESSIONAL. AWESOME, BEAUTLFULY ACHIEVED RESULTS. I HAVE TOOL, BUT I HAVE YET TO TAKE ON A JOB THIS BIG.... YOU GIVE ME HOPE AND YOU SURE WERE INSPIRING...... KUDOS DOLL! GREAT VIDEO AND BLOG!
I stumbled upon this video because I was down a home improvement/DIY TH-cam rabbit hole. I was already pretty sure I was going to subscribe, but the way you set up the knobs for the dresser to be spray painted sealed the deal, haha. There were so many things in this video where I was like, “Damn, that’s so smart! I would’ve never thought to do it that way!” I knew I was missing things when I DIYed that would make my work look more professional, but I wasn’t exactly sure how they were accomplished. This video showed all the little things that make a project look more professional and make it easier to do. Super helpful!
Hello Stefani- I wanted to say thank you for your video. I was able to do my own built- in closet from your inspiration. This is my first woodworking project.
Oh!! Wow !! Just WOWWWW!!! Never underestimate power of women. Nothing Is impossible . Specially when you have the right tools and budget. Ofcourse hardwork and passion. Thank you for sharing . Kudos girl !!! My next project and you are my guru. 🙏🙏
Really nice work!!! My Dad never had an impact driver so I never knew they existed but I recently saw the light and I guarantee getting one will change your life 👍 I now have a 12V drill/impact driver (lighter weight for 90% of my projects) as well as a 24V drill and 20V impact driver for those jobs that require more power. Makes driving those screws effortless!
ive been trying to talk my wife into this project, and she was against it until this video! thank you!!! ill try to video like you did and show the progress
It looks incredible! I like the way you first use Sketchup to visualize your project, and then the execution is flawless. To use the Ikea is a great idea, as it saves the effort on a very complex task, the drawers. Very nice job, my hats off.
I love what you do in your videos. You have inspired me to start doing things in my home myself. Thank you for breaking down the gender barriers with the stuff you do. You have given me confidence that I can do this stuff too! 😊😊😊
Such fantastic guidance! Well done, well done indeed!! My only addition is if you're going to lay it down on concrete you should use pressure-treated lumber. Wood never stops soaking up moisture even in the desert... Eventually you will have mold and rot.
Stefani, thank you so much for your awesome videos! We used the basic idea that you created with your closet and modified it a little to fit our closet needs. We needed more hanging clothes space so we went with a single dresser in the closet along with more space for the clothes rods. Since we were building from a subfloor we went with 1x3 lumber in the floor under the bottom plywood, but your ideas really put us on the right track! The profile pic is a pic of our finished product :)
I’d love to hear the total cost and then have a professional come in a price out how much it would have been $$$ !! Love it you did such a beautiful job and so inspirational !l
Plywood and wood is overkill for a closet. It'd be cheeper, faster and better (for example: drawers with a brake) if she just used white chipboard which is cheaper and no painting needed. Making drawers all of chipboard is way lot easier than you think.
Здравствуйте! Я впервые смотрю ваше видео, я в восторге! Вы такая умница! Все сделано аккуратно, красиво и практично! С удовольствием подписываюсь на вас
Hi Stefani, love all of your videos! My sister and I used your video to create my walk in closet and it looks amazing! We still have trim, putty, sand and paint to do ... but I am so excited we pulled it off so far! I think we have watched this video at least ten times while building! So helpful!!!
Wow..just wow.. I just finished watching both part 1 and 2. I must say that I am truly amazed by your enthusiasm and skills and the whole master plan. I have been looking in to D.I.Y closet system because I wanted to build one for my wife and almost gave up and just buy systems from IKEA because that seemed more reasonable to me. But your Vids changed my thoughts and attitude and brought whole new game. I will give it a try. I know it would be priceless feeling of accomplishment after all is done. Thank you for giving me encouragement and hope I can come back with a good news.
Wow! Wow! Wow!!! You did one hellava job! This was no small undertaking! Very physical work. My late husband and I used to do all sorts of home repair with our old farmhouse so I know what goes into doing something like this. You certainly have some great carpentry skills!
I'm a craft journeyman my whole life and I've been wanting to do the EXACT same thing to a very similar closet of my own. I started watching your vid just to laugh and criticize. WOW, was I wrong!! I'm going through your plan step-by-step, taking notes and bookmarking these vids. I'm going to follow your template and hope my results are as good as yours. My respect and admiration for your skillz!!!

Not true. Her husband is the one who did all the measurements and cuts. All clips are of her just screwing in stuff in besides the cubbies. Still a good job just not solely done by her. If she showed her cutting and doing everything now that would be impressive.
Wow! First of all, your carpentry skills are incredible! 🤩 I’ve been doing a lot of research on custom closets which brought me to your TH-cam channel and three part video series; and gotta say, your custom closet build is beautifully done! May I ask what kind of lumber you used for the 2x4s and plywood? (cedar, oak, pine, etc.?) I went to your blog post to see if you mention type of wood, but I didn’t see anything on lumber aside from the cost breakdown. Anyhow- I really enjoyed this custom closet build, I’m going to watch your home office makeover series next! ☺️
Thanks so much, Mira! I have a list of building materials on my Part 1 & Part 2 blog post. Here's the link to part 1: homewithstefani.com/closet-makeover-part-1/ I used regular pine 2x4's, Sande plywood and select pine for the trim from Home Depot 😊
FANTASTIC!!! COMPLETE JOB!!! YOU EVEN TEACH EVERYTHING, INCLUDING TIPS ABOUT THE MUSIC THAT I LOVED!!! YOU ARE A WONDERFUL WOOD WOMAN, I HOPE YOU ARE WONDERFUL IN EVERYTHING YOU DO IN YOUR LIFE AND LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, Miss Stefani. My wife and I watched Parts 1 & 2 of your closet organization project. We are impressed with what you have done with your closet. It's very tasteful and functional. We discussed what you have done and we want to do something similar, using the type of materials you used. Our space is more long than wide, but not a problem. Now we have some ideas to work with. Thank you for sharing. We will be watching for more of your videos, Stefani.
When I saw you building the platform in the first part of this video, I was trying to figure out exactly what that is for. But I am thinking about it now and that would be a good way to run my low voltage wires for an LED strip. If you would have put an LED strip inside every cubby or every other Covey, there would be plenty of light. Unfortunately, I am thinking that some of your Cubbies will be hard to see. Also, what I am going to do in my pantry, which is what I am going to use my baseboard is to have a light occupancy sensor.
Nice job!! Looks good. The only thing thing to point out maybe for future projects is that you should have built your 2x4 base out of treated lumber since it is in direct contact with the concrete which means it will draw moisture from the concrete. Hopefully it won't cause any problems but figured I would share that with you for next time.
That looks amazing!!! You did such a good job. I just have to get over my fear of cutting wood before I attempt projects like this but I will definitely be using your video and blog whenever I decide to try :)
A lot of places that sell wood, such as Home Depot and some Lowe’s, also cut the wood to size for no extra charge. If you get it done at those locations, I would add an additional 1/4 to 1/2 inch, and you can just power sand down to size.
Although it’s a little annoying you should hook the sander up to a shop vac to help reduce the dust. Sometimes they have a direct vacuum attachment. For my dewalt sander I had to make one out of pvc pipe. I just heated it up till it was super flexible then shoved it together and let it cool. I’ve also had good luck using 2” masking tape to tape it all together for a temporary solution.
Amazing job. I can tell you, as someone who has had several "custom" jobs done by California Closets, it's no where near the quality of what you have done.
May I ask why you didn’t sand and paint the wood before installing it? Then you would just have to do touch-ups after installation instead of having to paint inside every cubby and shelf.
I'm impressed with the trim work. I got to the last video (Q&A) and I could not believe how clean the trim and the edges of the shelves looked. Man, it looks professional! The Q&A was very helpful!
This is turned out lovely. I would highly recommend Torx screws over phillips head screws, you'll never want to go back! (especially if you start using an impact driver)
on the top corner dead spaces u could cut little doors in there for hiding stuff or ma the panel removable. same on the bottom u have space between the 2x4s
I have to tell you I am very proud of you like I cant believe you just completed a whole closet design that's awesome and it looks so professional way to gooo!!
All I can say, is you're my hero! I've been planning on doing the same to our closet and I am a little reluctant, and you seem fearless and you are doing this solo too! WOW. Kudos on a job well done!
You are so bad ass. I am definitely interested in the rest of your channel. I am in the middle of my first big project, a chicken run and you have me motivated to get it done.
Like every TH-cam expert who thinks they know everything, there was a couple of spots I would do slightly different. But who cares what we think, you did some awesome work, you go girl!

I liked the extensive use of pocket screws. Noticed your technique of pre-cut spacers so every shelf was exactly the same height. Very good job.
Thank you for noticing! 👍
I watched part1 and part 2 over and over , maybe a 100 times. My closet is coming along good. You helped me so much.. Thanks

Nice job!! Looks good. my job is woodworker, very appreciate what you have done !!
Wow hands down! Superb! Great job ma’am
Thank you!!
Hi Stefani. You are the star. Thank you very much for this valuable video.
Our own handiwork and it's also very beautiful.
I want my closet just like that. Awesome
Looks amazing. You are talented
Awesome!! Wow 🤩 what a makeover ...so impressed with your power tool skills and levelling everything.
I absolutely love this!! Your closet has got to be the coolest one I've seen!
I have to tell you I am very proud of you like I cant believe you just completed a whole closet design that's awesome and it looks so professional way to gooo!!
Thank you so much!!
Wow, you did a good job.
Amazing project nd result! Inspired to do same soon
