Molly is great. Hartford as in Conecticut? Charles lived there for a time. Mrs. Reilly probably never threatened Molly. . . Mrs Reilly lived on May St. Charles says she was not well liked anywhere she lived. A TH-cam comment I read last week gave me the street.
At the risk of jinxing it, it's a sad rarity when 50 percent of the panel is still alive in 2021 (Scoey, Susan and of course dear Betty at 99 years young, closing in on the century mark on January 17th, 2022).
H/H match update: ... Today's action: Our champion was roundly defeated after winning only one game and $100. I hate it when that happens. Today's audience match question: "Lay ________" (My thoughts: Away, Down*, Over) -- *I checked, and the song "Lay Down Sally" was released in November 1977, so well after this poll was taken. The celebs: Scoey (down), Susan (back), Richard (odds) -- Richard also reveals to the camera one of the suggestions handed him by a fellow panelist: "Man." The choice: Down The answers: An egg, Away, Down Our new champion starts off with a $500 audience match win. Now, will today be the day that Richard's exclusive streak at playing the H/H comes to an end? Let's see... No. This is now King Richard's 43rd consecutive time playing the H/H, and he's been chosen 66 of the past 68 times. (Charles answered the remaining two questions.) Richard has been on quite the hot streak of late. He's matched 51 of his 120 most recent attempts (42.5%), 34 of his last 77 attempts (44.2%), and 14 of his last 27 attempts (51.9%). For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 33 of his 65 attempts (50.8%), Betty has matched 19 of her 38 attempts (50.0%), and Brett has matched 28 of her 68 attempts (41.2%). Oh, no pressure, but if Richard matches today, it will be his 250th H/H match overall! Today's H/H question: "Razor _______ " (Maybe a 50-50 today? Razor sharp or razor thin. My first thought was thin, so that's my answer.) Richard begins to write immediately and the new champ is nodding with a smile on her face. This augurs well for a match today. I really think the H/H questions have been much easier overall the last few weeks or so. "Blade," our champion says. Well, I was way off base once again. Now that I hear it, "blade" does sounds like the best answer. Judging by the audience response, it really is the definitive answer. Richard continues his winning streak with his fourth consecutive match: "Blade." Richard scores his 250th H/H match today! Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). Charles - 50.8% (33 wins in 65 attempts). TIE: Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). TIE: Fannie - 50.0% (13 wins in 26 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 41.8% (250 wins in 598 attempts). Brett - 41.2% (28 wins in 68 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 933, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, and 910. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced.
Were any Match Game 73-79 contestants born in the 1800s? Apparently at least one was. The new contestant who appears after the "Razor ____" super match said she was 78 years old at the time, and this show was recorded in 1977 (or maybe in late 1976?).
Or maybe wasn't sure Scoey would like it and Richard is famous for hugs & kissy face. Also Scoey helped her on the lesser win, not everyone gets a hug or kiss for that, but helping someone win big money usually does. She did reach for Scoey but he didn't lean forward or reach for her. They shook hands which I thought was fine.
I long for the days when a minute and 4 seconds was the average commercial break!
And the ads were non-political and or not for Rx medications, scooters etc.
Sorry, Brett (at 5:00) but Harold Arlen did not write The Birth of the Blues. It was composed by Ray Henderson/lyrics by Buddy DeSylva and Lew Brown.
She may have been thinking of "Blues in the Night," a well-known 1941 song that Arlen wrote.
Harold Arlen was the composer of the Wizard of Oz
Wow I never heard of the Birth of the Blues song. I wouldn't have gotten that answer.
Great song. Precious

I love Molly!
She had a wonderful personality, perfect for being a contestant.
Go get em Molly!!!

Unfortunately, as I'm sure you know, she didn't quite make it. Too bad. We were all rooting for her.
You sure did jinx it. Scoey died in March 2022, not long after Betty White.

They've been making weather references to the time of taping being March or April 1977.
They would never do this but if Betty White and Fannie Flagg were on the same show, which one would have the last seat?
Probably Betty would be in seat 6, because Fannie used to sit in seat 4 in earlier episodes
Scoey is my favorite part time panelist, he is so cute. I think I'm in love with Charles. 😊😁🥰
They are both adorable.💖💖
Betty’s cool.
Oh man that's great gave birth to the Blues I love it. If Molly were alive today she'd be rockin a vivid neon purple hairdo
Molly is awesome! “I make it my business to.”
"I always do research on the people that lay down." - Really, Richard!?!?!
Very weird that he knew her birthday.
Hmm
Scoey seems incredibly high. Is "Scoey" short for something??
This episode is from the year Susan Sullivan appeared as Dr. Elaina Marks in the pilot episode of The Incredible Hulk with Bill Bixby.
So funny will be back in 4 minutes 3/10 seconds Gene Rayburn LOL I wonder if those numbers are actual
9:57 -- The rewards of poor grammar.
I cannot believe that’s going. Did not even move to give that girl a kiss or hug her. I think that was really rude!
I may be a bit oddball but I thought of “Lay Miserables.”
Betty should have been a permit player and not Brett in my opinion
Julie, looks kinda Julia Robert’s
Has anyone seen the episode that Betty is talking about at the end of the video at 2:50?
th-cam.com/video/bEZkCnTKGW4/w-d-xo.html
kissed all over Richard - but not Scoey.....so telling of the time....
Danny Hill --- such a shame, ppl were just about as ignorant 40 yrs ago as they are today
actually that's a telling of your views, what you want to see and your ignorance
Well, Scoey never struck me as the cuddly type. Nipsey, on the other hand, he would seem the one to be goofy like that. :)
It's also easier to bend over and give a kiss then it would be to climb up and give one.
