I know someone who had S13s new, along with FCs, AE86s, and E30s 20-30 years ago. Price was a big factor as these were relatively cheap to buy and run back then. It was his first new car and was cross-shopping it with a slightly used FC Turbo II, but the Nissan dealer gave a better discount so S13 it was. He said it was like a more composed 86 but the short wheelbase always felt ready to step out. FC turbo was not as forgiving especially out of corners and E30s stuck to the road like glue - required higher speeds to have fun. He now drives an ND and says it reminds him of the S13 from years ago.
Man, you've brought so many cars to my attention that I would never have known about otherwise! Good bad and ugly on the 2ng gen Solara next, as it's another car that many people need to have brought to their attention. Seriously, I just watched the ending to a horror movie called Eden Lake, and now I'm pissed and could use some good news right now. The editing in your video did cheer me up somewhat; frigging hilarious!
Nissan Silvia s13 was a great for drifting and has been the best Silvia ever made in Japan for every car enthusiast fell in love with the car

I think they are still very good platform despite being older. Parts are plentiful, easy to work on, but getting a little expensive these days. Still worth buying one today.

Intercoolers DO NOT add power. They keep cars form losing power that happens when heat soak occurs.
What MADE it so great (past tense) was that it was a cheap lightweight rwd platform with decent power. Those days are pretty much gone now that people think they are somehow worth $20k+
