This video does so much injustice. I've worked in a lab that produces products for some of the biggest companies in Walmart, Target, etc. IFRA guidelines should absolutely be followed, the increase in scent strength and longevity does not out do the potential harm. You use beard products daily... why would you want toxins that high? If Dan C posted 1,000 terrible videos (and there's a ton) this one single video is by far worse than all of those Dan made combined. If any company follows this, maybe not today or tomorrow but if they get big enough like an Old Spice or something, tests and reports will come out to destroy them. Scientists make these guidelines for a reason, trust the science not these "reviewers"

I had someone ask me to change my formula became grapeseed oil has a 6 month shelf life my reply was sorry I can't do that, their reply was well if you got rid of it j would buy from you, I really want to try your products, to which I replied well I guess we aren't the company for you. I'll take advice in things and make changes off of suggestions in certain things but my carrier blend is not one of them

Grapeseed has an 8 - 12 mo. Shelf life if it is not mixed with other carriers. Other carriers can extend the shelf life. But none of that matters. If you still have a 1 ounce bottle on your shelf after 6 mo., you didn't really like that oil anyway.
Wanting to start a beard company. I have my carrier oils I believe are good for my beard and environment I am in. I am wanting to formulate mine so if I decide to not go forward, I have the knowledge to make the oils and butters for my taste.

Ima say about the Dan and his collab and his scent preference , i don’t buy all his collabs, his best collab to me imo is the command Mack *old one* cause of the bite it had. I’m not interested in mint nor citrus scent. Ima dark scent person.
If you try a true quality parfum grade fragrance you'll see and understand the difference. I get it you're sticking up for your friend and I respect that but I've been doing this a long time and there are a lot of people, and I'm not saying you, that need to open their eyes

One thing I'll say is funny is anyone down playing grapeseed. It really is a great oil. Beard products are intended to be USED not COLLECTED so if a carrier oil on an 1OZ beard oil lasts 6 months, that's GREAT because you should be going through a bottle in a month or two, not use for 3 days and then adding it to the collection. That's exactly how the average consumer will use beard products. (Buy as needed and use in a month or two) I don't think Dan's intent in that video was to say don't use grapeseed oil and that it's bad, but I do feel that's the direction it took with companies. And really it only affects "reviewers" who collect bottles, and not 99.9% of the people purchasing and actively using products.
The thing is, you never know how long has that bottle that you bought been sitting on a shelf before you got it. You might just open it thinking it's fresh, but it's actually been made 6 months ago. And I'm sure there are companies who will sell you stuff that is soon to be expired and you'll never know it... But on the other hand I really don't think the oil will go bad so quickly if it has been stored properly, plus some essential oils actually act as preservators so they prolong the shelf life. There are lots of factors to consider here. Dan definitely didn't mean anything bad, he just gave his opinion on this topic, and he always says that you shouldn't follow his advice blindly and encourages everyone to use whatever works for them. There are so many companies and so many different guys with different beards and it's impossible to please everyone with the same product.
@nabojsa I've only really ever purchased from made to order companies or companies where they fly off the "shelf" so I highly doubt I ever got anything older than a week.
I watched the video by Dan C that you're referring to and found it very informative. You've accused Dan C many times of trying to make money (why wouldn't he) from his affiliates. Why would he create this video if it could possibly hurt some of his affiliates? The reason is because he's honest and he cares first and foremost about the bearded community as a whole. Anytime you mention him, you go on an expletive rant and just sound like a jealous ahole.

I make my own oils with about 3-5% fragrance. Not sure where that lands in the standards. I’ll go & watch that video. But I wear some colognes at 50% oil concentration so I could care less about standard ls I want my stuff to last & work. If comes down to that point where stuff is reformulated I’ll just stick to making my own for myself. As It is is I got plenty of oils to last me a while

I agree @Kentuckybeardsman. I used the Luxurious Bastard Fresh as well as Artius Man invigoration stuff. It’s very minty(which I like mint). Dan C just wants his stuff only to be fresh which can be too much. I will avoid any collab from now on. Thanks for your insights and time brotha.
