    That asphalt ain't no joke. Especially leaving the scale. Folks are famous for busting their tires if they don't keep their truck straight when leaving

    Superb video. I drove a tandem for Aggregate Industries. The truck was an old International 10 speed. That thing was solid. Driving a Titan 880
    like yours. Mine is an onsite fueling truck. It has an Eaton 18 speed transmission. Converted tractor into 10 wheel tanker. I prefer fueling to the asphalt biz. I also drove the Tack truck, spraying the hot oil. You really had to pay attention to what you were doing. I got pretty good at it.
    I'm in the Denver area. Lots of work here. Keep the videos coming!

    you do a very good job paving in a dump truck.
    the truck they let me drive is currently a Kenworth dump which seems to be set up as an aggregate hauler.
    the company sometimes assigns me a dump body truck that is set up to be a construction and sometimes paving truck

    I've asked numerous channels is it hard to drive under the silos to get loaded? Looks like a tight squeeze. Considering getting my CDL. Weird lot of trucks seem to be automatic now

    • @ryanolyolson3
      @ryanolyolson3  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Most silos for paving are pretty tight. It depends on the plant and their setup. Just gotta take it nice and slow and always keep your head on a swivel checking your mirrors and spacing. All of the newer trucks are going to Allison automatics, basically bulletproof transmissions in my opinion. If you are new to larger commercial vehicles and manual transmissions I would highly suggest sticking with an auto. Much safer and easier to handle on day to day dump truck type of work. I like both types and don’t have a preference but everybody has their own opinions about transmissions.

    Does your truck get pushed forward by the paving machine. Does it lock on to your back wheels until your done? Great job.

      Some pavers have truck locks on them not all most times truck stays in netruel and foot stays lightly on brake while paver pushes you

    How do you like the automatic?? I’ve been contemplating getting one. Smaller city lots of lights and braking equals pissed off knee. Does it shift and whatnot slow.

    • @ryanolyolson3
      @ryanolyolson3  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      big cat I like the automatic. It’s kind of a weird transition from a manual to an auto but overall I like it. You have the ability to manually shift the gears by pushing the keypad to help get the most out of acceleration and also braking ability during downshifting.
