    I just bought one of those rollers because I was doing closets with supports that had been nailed on, this making it difficult to paint. The roller fits into those smaller spaces and really helped make a quick job of it. Thanks for the info.

    Good morning Chris , Bob here ... ". the home " renoguy , Couple questions to you about bathrooms , ... when or actually , before you paint behind and around , do you make a point of any or extra cleaning around the toilet ( I speaking of , splatter or over spray , bad aim ) on the walls when a toilet is close to a wall ? Do you or have you ever had issues with paint adhering to the wall in these areas ?
    The other question is about hairspray . Did a job a number of years back that required painting a sort of small on-suite , and had a real problem with paint doing some weird things on one area of the walls . It was the part of the wall the was directly opposite the vanity mirror , anyway , long story short , we found out that the previous owner was a hair spray-oholic , and that the paint wasn't bonding to the wall because of all the over spray of hair spray used over ? years .
    The home owner had told us that she had washed/cleaned all the places that we were to paint , so we didn't need to , but I wonder if we had done the usual pre-wipe down , if we would have caught that , as in it would have shown up in some sort of fashion .
    Do you prep a bathroom any differently then any other room ?
    What cleaning product do you use ? I assume TSP , but sure would like to know if there's a secret magic formula >
    Oh , and on the few times that the toilet is too close to the wall for the roller , I use a trim pad/wall edger . You can't get all the way behind the toilet , but certainly enough that you can't see any of the old color with out pulling the toilet .
    Thanks for the video
    Bob from Calgary

    What is the roller? Did you say "wingy nap?"

  • @saburius
    @saburius 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Problem is, very often the mini roller will be too big to fit behind the water tank because it is too close to the wall. If you want to do a decent job, you'll have to resort to some DIY painting pads (usually used for cutting in straight lines - for which they don't work) which incidentally work great to solve problems like this. Great tip by the way! I use mini rollers for so many things it would be hard to imagine my daily routine without them.

    Good video. Not sure why you chose s mohair. IMHO,I would go with a regular weenie cover or a microfiber if fine finish is required on walls.Also for new painters I would not recommend running two roller frames out of the same pot,you'll make a mess of your self.Cheers and Thanks!Matt in Portland Oregon.

      I use a trim pad / wall edger . It won't get you all the way down/up behind the tank ( unless you tape on a paint stick or something ) , but it will get you far enough in behind the tank that you won't be able to see the old paint/color.
      The next option , of course , is to remove the toilet , or at least the tank .

    I absolutely hate painting bathrooms, some customers are so unhygienic

  • @GreatWhiteNiko
    @GreatWhiteNiko 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    No.
    I work in bathrooms every day so here's some solid advice. Don't assume it is just being a germophob.
    - First off - a toilet seat that has room behind the water tank to fit a paint roller is the rarest thing on Earth.
    - Second - wrap the fucking toilet seat in plastic before you do anything. Mask the surrounding walls and bath tub too because bodily fluids splash on them. Reason is - no matter what you do you will brush against all of them. Shit and piss is one thing. STD and infectious diseases are another. Knowing a guy that has an STD and used to work for deliver food with Uber keeps me paranoid. Better work practices as a result.
    - Third - wear disposable nitrile gloves (rubber gloves). For the same reason described above. Are you really going to work around someone's toilet and use the same gloves later?
    As a contractor - if a client presents me with a nasty toilet the result is always the same - I will either cut corners somewhere else or somehow charge them more.
    As a client - if you make the work of the contractor easier and cleaner and IF you have the right guy you will get the best result you can. Guaranteed.
