I got a Paperwhite for my birthday a few years ago, it is the 10 generation. It still works perfectly fine. I like it as it’s small and compact. Battery lasts ages.
7k views, 800 subscribers. Let's give this man the subs he deserves. Great content, great pacing, fantastic quality and most importantly, delivered what the video promised. 👏👏👏
Thanks for your thoughtful comments, Mark. I own both a 2021 Oasis and a new Signature Paperwhite. I definitely prefer the Oasis for its MUCH brighter screen and the page-turning push buttons/auto rotating page orientation that make one-handed reading, especially when turning back several pages, far more comfortable. That said, I have a feeling I will simply need to get used to the Paperwhite, as Amazon seems unlikely to invest more firmware upgrades in the Oasis and may soon phase it out altogether. Before this happens, I'm tempted to purchase another Oasis next year for the new battery alone (mine lasts only 1-2 days now).
Thanks for your comment. I never really used the auto-rotate - forgot about it actually! Grab the Oasis while you can if it’s your preferred device as, like you so rightly say, doesn’t really look like they’ll be doing anything more with it 😁
First of all, I love your bear! I have a Kindle paperwhite in the regular edition. I looked into the signature, but figured that since the kindle only needs charged once a month, the wireless charging wasn't super necessary. The warm light can be easily, manually adjusted. The 8GB can hold several thousand books which is sufficient for me. I'm happy with my purchase. :)
I'm looking for a Kindle to offer my girlfriend on her birthday and your videos are very helpful! Your content is amazing and you just got a new sub! All the best! 💪
Great Review, I couldn't believe you have only 911 subs. The content, introduction, camera and explanation was very well done and thorough! You've got a new subscriber! Ps just received my kindle paperwhite signature today :D
I have an old gen basic. I bought a wireless adapter on Amazon $14.00 cnd. It has a power port plug, then is thin card like sleeve, I place under case & I get wireless charging.
Bought the first gen Oasis back in 2017, travel for work and it went everywhere with me, no case. Lasted until a few weeks ago when the cat did what cats do. Got the new Paperwhite, great reader but still miss the page buttons. I've had lots of e-readers going back to the OG Nook. Really curious about the Scribe so heading to your video about that.
Of course I want to know what the cat did! 😆 Glad the Oasis lasted as long as it did for you. I treated both of mine with kid gloves and they had a little ‘envelope’ case I kept them in when not being used - still broke 🤷🏼Enjoy the Scrube video, I love mine!
Unfortunately, I have a bad experience with the signature edition and now I'm out of options. I just started a return on my signature edition paperwhite after having it less than 10 days. I was hoping the problems will fix, but they didn't. It freezes, it gets very slow, it shows blank pages and doesn't go back to normal until is left alone for a while, the kindle store also works off and on, and the battery off and on drains from 100 to under 80 without me using it, the wifi off, and the light down, the screen on sleep. It's too expensive to not be working, so I'm returning it. My first and only kindle has been the Kindle Oasis, which I have since 2019, and had never had a single problem. I love it and I read a lot. Sadly, they don't make them anymore, my new signature edition has been awful and defective, and I have no idea what I'll do without a kindle. This is the second device of signature edition Amazon sent me within two days. My first order was defective even worse and even their tech couldn't fix it so we agreed to return it and order another one. This second device is the one I'm returning. Sad and disappointed to be without a kindle, but I'm scared to risk ordering another one again from Amazon.
I upgraded to a 3rd gen Oasis when it was the only Kindle with warm light. It's held up for me and I really like its balance when I'm holding it with one hand (with 3rd gen, I don't see individual LEDs on sides). Amazon hasn't done a refresh with the Oasis in quite a few years, unfortunately. I would love to have USB-C and wireless charging with it (and it certainly needs it with the price point Amazon still has it). It's the most fidgety micro USB port I've had. Amazon has made the Paperwhite be their competitive e-reader and are setting a price premium for the nicer form factor of the Oasis.
A very prescient viewpoint. Amazon updated the Kindle Paperwhites to meet or exceed the Oasis features at a less expensive price point. And Amazon has now (Oct. 2024) confirmed that the Oasis has been discontinued. I’ll keep both of mine for now because of the page turn buttons and the autorotation. Then I’ll upgrade to the new Paperwhite Signature (wireless charging, USB C, higher contrast, etc.) or whatever the latest model is when the batteries on my Oasis models die. Amazon has unfortunately now made all their Kindle models with the power button on the bottom. It was so nice to have it on the top where it wouldn’t get accidentally bumped.
Upgraded A few months back from a paperwhite 2018 to the paperwhite signature. Love the additional features but wish it was the smaller size. Here's to hoping for an Oasis sized Scribe in 2024 though. Scribe is just too large for my liking right now.
I have bought the Kindle paper white signature twelve months ago. Now what have they done they have brought out the scribe, although I wouldn’t want to carry it around anywhere. I will use the paper white signature to carry around.
I do have a Paperwhite 2017 model wanna get the Scribe but I will lose the portability of the Paperwhite ( will give away mine) still love kindles since the very first time I got mine.
I just switched out my paperwhite for this one because of the charging. The wireless works with all qi chargers too which is much better for me when I travel because all my devices are USBc now or have wireless minus my laptop of course. It allows me to cut down on chargers and even though the charge can hold for a long time I can't guarantee when I'm traveling I won't have to charge it. I found myself just using my iPad when I traveled and I'll still use it to read manga but my iPad charge isn't as great as Kindle so it's such a hassle to charge it all the time to read when also using it for other apps.
I just bought it, Prime Day - even though Amazon decided to take a few months before shipping it to me lol If the edge is missing, why not just tilting it?
just a quick tip, you can actually turn off the touch screen on the Oasis - Each time you turn on the device, press the top of the touchscreen to bring down the toolbar, click the 3 vertical dots furthest right, and just select "disable touchscreen"
I’m just at the investigation stage to purchase a reading device. I currently just have my older, but still wonderful, iPad. I’m thinking of saving up my nickels and going for the signature edition as I tend to keep gear a really long time. Your videos are very helpful and to the point…not interested in the stickers and all of that 😂
Very good video. I congratulate you on the quality of the production. In my case, I am attracted by the design and reading experience that the Oasis model can offer me. However, I have been seeing that Amazon seems not to continue with this model. I am concerned about the issue of support and updates, since if I purchased the Kindle Oasis I would not consider changing it for at least 4 or 5 years. What do you think about it?
Thanks for the kind words about the video! The Kindle Oasis does have a fantastic design and reading experience. If Amazon discontinues the model, support and updates could become an issue over time. If you’re planning to use it for 4-5 years, it’s worth considering how future-proof it will be. I think, like you, that they will continue to produce the Oasis in the form it is now. Tthe Kindle Paperwhite is a solid choice! Hope that helps!
Strange. Check out the first part of this video as I show how to set up a Bluetooth connection - th-cam.com/video/LaLN2a-2S28/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cGXOIJiMs5-QEjjs
i prefer everything about the Oasis except the price and the usb connection. I like the ergonomics of it, I like the physical buttons and place put your hand that isn't a screen, I like the more lights, but the 32gb version is so much more money than the paperwhite that I can't really justify the price, and micro usb in 2024 is just not something I put up with. Hopefully amazon drops an refreshed (and cheaper?) kindle oasis soon. They also have a bunch of competition going colour now, so maybe the 'new' kindles will have colour e-ink.
The next step has got to be colour hasn’t it? I’m been playing around with Boox stuff recently and having colour has impressed me more than I thought it would.
@@mark_kelly I'd rather have it be cheaper than have it be colour - the comic book subset of customers has to be way smaller than the regular reader subset. and USB-C of course.
im going to disagree..... both are great but the oasis is lighter and is better to hold, so I read longer using the oasis and the battery life isnt even bad for the oasis
I have been using ordinary Kindles for 13 years now and haven't read a printed book in years. The basic Kindle is more than sufficient if reading is your priority.
how is someone going to know if it is the wrong choice if you don't say what it is you prefer? I am looking for an ereader and would like to find the perfect one.

Thanks for this video! I just got a Kindle Paperwhite Signature, my first Kindle in 13 years.
You’re welcome! First one in 13 years suggests you had an early model at one time?
@@mark_kellyYup I had one of the ones with a keyboard. Around 2010/2011.
It was one of those that a colleague showed me that got me interested initially. Took me a couple more models before taking the plunge.

Will the Kindle signature charge wirelessly with the cover on. Thanks for any help
