I'm new to Eagle. I was able to do everything up until separating the ground plane and the heatsink. With Eagle 9.6.2, I cannot use the wire tool in the trestrict layer. If I use polygon tool instead, it does not achieve the same effect as shown in this video. Any help?
@@MarkAnthonyCabilo Using ranks is how I achieved the isolation. I looked at the Eagle file since I forgot how I did it. I have the GND plane as rack 1 and heatsink at rank 4. I think I had the same problem as you and had to move the ranks farther apart.
Excellent, thanks Trevor. It looks like the copy-and-paste of the vias doesn't work, at least in terms of keeping their names GND. Do you have to update that individually? Also, will DRC pass if you don't show the tStop & bStop layers? Or will DRC still show errors?
Not working on Eagle 9.6.2. How to do now?
Are these vias filled solid with copper, for best thermal conduction and solderability, or are they hollow like standard connection vias?
They are hollow. When soldering components, you can fill these for better efficiency.
@@rossrobotics6342 thanks for the reply
Aren't tCream and bCream layers required over Top, Bottom and Stop layers?

Btw, I also tried applying polygon ranks. However, the heatsink (rank 1) and the ground plane (rank2) are still shorted (single plane all over).

@@rossrobotics6342 please make a video on it.

Not sure why it's not keeping the name, it used to in older versions. I just copy and pasted using the Name tool.
Excellent thanks mate. I was wondering how to do it
eagle is so hard.... thanks for the info
