  • When your project gets past the prototype stage, it's best to get a PCB printed to design and print it. On today's episode, Ben shows you how to use EAGLE software to export the industry-standard files you need.

      They are in two different worlds, Altium is decades in front, far more complex end to end and also high cost for a pro market.

    I can't thank you enough for this, Ben, I started with Eagle 18 days ago and have just sent my Gerber files off to Seeed today!
    The presentation is snappy, precise and fast. I use the pause button or rewind if I miss something(!)
    Your excellent, concise editing makes the whole thing short which means it's easy to find the bit I want.
    Again, thanks - and keep up the great work.

    Great video, Ben!
    When introducing the schematics view, you mention that when connecting schematic components, you MUST use wires and can't simply drop the components next to each other for them to connect. In fact you can just drop a component next to another and if one or more of their connections "touch", they will be connected by wire automatically.

He also will try to help you & has great customer service. I had a brain tumor removed & since then I can't use my right hand. I was so bored & felt left out. This product gave me part of my life back so many take for granted. THANK YOU Ben for all your help!! I recommend this product to any in need.10/10

    That's exactly what I wanted to learn, but I don't know sh*t about electronics, I just got into this world a couple weeks ago. I guess I just have to study a lot about to first learn how to create my own PCB. I want to create a portable game based on a orange pi, to be as cheap as possible, and I guess the most I do myself, the less I'll spend, and making a mother board with all the modules on it would not just make it more organized, but original and practical, even would help improve the design. Also, I guess i wouldn't need to wait half an eternity for all the stuff I need arrive from China (yeah, I live in Brazil then definitely doesn't worth buying a single module here cause it'll cost 3x or 4x it value).
    Btw, thanks for this channel, you guys are being a great help, also a great inspiration

    If you want to continue a wire from the other side of the PCB you don't have to place a via manually. You can just use the Route-Tool and do a mousewheel-click and it will automatically place the via for you :)

    I know this is an old video, but I've struggled with Eagle all the time I've used it, so any hint helps. After you make the schematic, and switch to the board, all the components are lying in a lump. Rather than move them onto the board piecemeal, and risk getting an error message if you drop one, "that feature not available in the free version", grab the group tool, surround the bundle of components, right click "move group" and re-place the bundle within the boards boundaries

    When a new video file is uploaded to TH-cam it's processes and made available when the processing is done. TH-cam makes the lower quality files available first as they are faster to process.

  • @aiden1015
    @aiden1015 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Never use autorouters. They are notoriously inefficient with layout and add way more vias than you'll ever need.
    Placing components inside first works fine for simple board like that. But when you have a couple dozen components, it makes more sense to cut the circuit into sub-circuits and run the traces (excluding power and ground) and then drag and position that sub-circuit inside the pcb walls. That should help keep your traces shorter and avoid you wanting to pull your hair out.
