I have a very large statue of Our Lady Help of Christians that overlooks our pool. I wish I could post a picture here but I’m glad to have her protection! My entire home is enthroned to our lady and looks very much like a church. I need these reminders!

In the early days when people had no access to an education that included reading or latin, the images were an effective way to evangelize. In our time, the images serve as inspiration. I seev it as having portraits of our dear ones.

The statues of the Cherubim in the Temple were neither worshiped nor venerated nor prayed to; they were there only as a symbol by order of God. Even the body of Moses was hidden by the archangel Saint Michael so that it would not be used as an object of veneration by the people of Israel!
Our family often makes fun of the silly prots who object to our statues. When we found a beautiful statue of Our Blessed Mother at a store, we bought it and brought it home. One of our daughters remarked so sarcastically “hey dad, we’re really going to enjoy worshipping this statue, huh?” I’m glad we can laugh about these things.

When you die you at least retain your memories. Having prayed the Blessed Virgin Mary/Christ statues does not mean your idolizing them. No we as Catholics don’t worship statues. We honor & ask them who are saints to pray for us to God. Prayer of intercession.
