I remember Squid Girl from when I first saw it in 2011, that Anime was so wholesome it was one of the first Anime series I showed to my niece and nephew at the time as well as early Pokemon episodes that they really enjoyed.
My first anime that wasn't Pokemon I have to give to Lucky Star, though Squid Girl was within my first 10 having watched it at my late grandfather's house during summer break in either 2014 or 2015 along with Angel Beats and Chobits (which I didn't finish probably because I somewhat easily flustered back then). As for the Splatoon collab, I WISH they would bring back the outfit, even if Squid Girl is as relevant today as Madagascar on the Gamecube. Edit: Forgot to mention I think I only saw season 1 back then. Thanks Netflix.

Aww, I love this series so much, I even love Sanae, in a weird kind of way. XD She gets so much black comedy abuse that it's hard to tell if you should laugh at her or pity her, and I think at times, she DOES have standards and shows herself to be a good person, or at the very least, not evil. :p One time she was actually one of the reasons Squid Girl and her family got saved by a robber in the manga, but also because... she had secret cameras installed in their house, LOL. XD Lesser Evil? :? Idk. :p Squid Girl also got sick in an infirmary, and I think there was like potential horror of Sanae being able to take advantage, but I think she didn't. :p Sanae is a yandere that's lovable in a way because she's more like just kind of pathetic... you got to wonder if it's even possible for her to get a partner or not if she wasn't a yandere or even went for somebody else. :p To be honest, Cindy and the Scientists are ones I find weird and annoying at times, but I guess their needed too. :p One time, Squid Girl got stranded on an online and got "saved" by them when they wanted to dissect her as an alien or something, but she weirded them out by missing them to death and hugging them so they changed their mind. :p It's lovable stuff like this that makes me not even truly hate a single thing at the moment, it's the perfect Slice of Life. :p Every problematic character has a heart of gold. :?

Ended up watching the first couple of segments dubbed off of youtube before realizing it wasn't actually splatoon, and then lost interest in it after that lol. Not sure I would've been a big fan if I had continued watching it but it does seem like a fun cute little thing

Looking at your Western Animation interests, I think you should give Spy Family a watch as it might appeal to you if you enjoyed Squid Girl when you were in your "Anime phase". To me, you either gravitate towards it or you don't and Anime is a large medium with many different genres for different age groups, not all can be for everyone so that is what you need to keep in mind.
