How awesome to see a steam loco on SA rails! It was always a lovely sight for me when travelling through the Karoo in the good old days. To the guys preserving our heritage, WELL DONE, KEEP IT UP.
@@roundtheworldinasteamyhaze2942 I'm currently 'digitizing' all your old film and slides, the ones I copied to DVD so many years ago. I'm sure you've already done the same.
Impressive! I saw many of them in 1980. Can you eventually say if there are stiil some 25NC staemers able to drive actually? I ennoyed your film!Dirk Bonne
Even without the caption, clearly a FarRail tour: always skip breakfast to get the sunrise photo. On my first RSA trip (1986-87), there was still a pocket of 25NCs, and I got to ride behind and in one. In 2001, I got to ride behind one on the Victoria Falls line in Zimbabwe: RTC and Cooke tours in tandem, exchanging locos for a portion.
I do love these 25nc 4-8-4.

Well done Alan! Thanks for sharing. Uli
Absolutely brilliant Al. Can't wait for more from your south African trip.
Thanks Pete! I've just posted the video from Day Two!

Does that tender have the water condensation chambers in it?
No, the condensing equipment has been removed from the tender. In addition , 3437 was not built as a condenser and was always a 25NC (non-condenser).
