You are correct - Madrid is much cleaner than it was when we studied here 30-odd years ago. Some of the most noticeable changes came about after the city stopped using diesel buses for public transportation in the late 90s, and then stronger regulations were passed on coal furnaces to phase them out. Now there are sections of the city where only electric or hybrid cars are allowed. For example, we cannot drive our Mitsubishi anywhere within the circumference of the Zona Centro (Atocha, la Castellana, Palacio Real, etc). Glad to see you supporting XollaWool. Elena and her husband are trying to save the Ripollesa breed from extinction, and her new color palette was debuted at Barcelona Knits (I'll be placing an order soon!). And Justina's Feliz y Punto yarns are always divine, but I especially love that blue you bought!
❤Thank you for sharing the lovely videos from Madrid and Barcelona. These two cities are definitely on my bucket list. The building architecture is fascinating. Rachel S.
Hello, The shawl you knitted for your mother-in-law is gorgeous, I love the colors you chose. Of course the turquoise is my favorite color. I REALLY enjoy watching your videos very much. Thank you. Alicia. Across the Lake Erie
I love Barcelona. I have been there several times. If you haven’t been to Palau de la musica, you must see it some time. It is gorgeous, with or without concert music.
Wow, what a trip, thank you for all the beautiful footage. Love your knits and the gorgeous yarn haul....The wrap that Ivana made you is stuff of dreams, what an extravagantly exquisite piece it is, it looks so beautiful on you
Hello Selma! I met you in person and we were talking a bit in Barcelona Knits. I remember you told me that you used to be an English teacher. I always enjoy your podcasts and I learn a lot from your videos. Even more specially I really liked the ones about Barcelona, Sitges and Madrid. All of these, are places that I know very well. Looking forward to meeting you again in Barcelona!
Great episode, Selma! How wonderful is it that we have the ability to travel and experience other cultures and sights with the added bonus of a yarn festival! I hope you enjoy knitting your haul! You acquired some beautiful skeins!❤
Your BCN footage made me smile. I have such happy memories of my 6-month stay there over 20 years ago (how did THAT happen? Time flies). Thank you for taking such great photos and videos.
Thank you for the beautiful chat and trip details. The wrap Ivana made you is stunning. I watch her podcast too and it’s lovely to see togetherness between podcasters ❤❤
thank you for sharing the video at end the choices of the various foods was amazing the architecture in both cities very interesting keep taking care xxxx
As always it is so inspirering to se what you are making and dreaming about. I especially loved the fotos from Barcelona this time. It is always fun to see places through other eyes. I just visited Barcelona to months ago and saw many of the same places
The Kimba shawl for your mother-in-law is stunning! So are the plumage socks! I see myself knitting one pair, too. Can't wait for Amy Palko's poncho pattern. The yarn you're using is dreamy!
Great to catch up,,,,, What a great trip ,,,Lots of memories,,,,!!! Great Pics and scenes,,,,, YARN!!! LOVELY,,,, and seeing UR son,,,!!! Thanks Selma,,,!! Elaine 🏡🎄⛄⛄
Always enjoy your podcasts, soothing voice and wonderful knits. I was searching for a project last night to suit new yarn and your projects kept popping up! I loved the Spain videos, will be heading there next Sep/Oct. Cheers, Catherine from Australia 😊
Another episode FULL of ALLLLL the woolly goodness. First item that took my breath away: the Kimba Shawl! Wow. Second item: the woven wrap by Ivana is absolutely stunning!!!! I think Yoda will have to fight you all for it. I am so happy your year rounded with this very special trip with wonderful people, experiences and heart-warming nostalgia. Thanks for the beautiful footage. I haven't been to Spain... yet.
What an interesting visit, Selma. How lovely for you to be able to catch up with old friends and new. Your acquisitions are beautiful and I look forward to seeing what you make from them. I particularly enjoyed your film clips from Barcelona - a city I have visited several times and always love visiting. I think I may have to revisit it and the next Barcelona Knits festival would be a good excuse!! Thank you. x
I enjoyed seeing your videos of your trip. Madrid and Barcelona are on my bucket list. Architecture, history, art, and food and yarn, what more can you ask for except more food and Yarn.
The old name of my knitted closet is trizas y trazos ❤ i have to go back to madrid and visit barcelona again. I spent 2 horas in la sagrada familia. It is beautiful
This was such a great podcast.....loved all of your yarn purchases and the wrap you received as a gift...how luxurious and beautiful!! Loved the footage at the end. I actually went to Madrid during a semester break while in college...thanks for sharing with us😊
Oh my gosh that vest top is absolutely stunning! Very delicate with a beautiful shade. You are so talented! I struggle with round necks I make one side nest and the other looks like. Dog has chewed it! It’s sad to hear you aren’t happy with the best top after you put so much love into it. Kelly at lay family yarns makes a gorgeous blue yarn called cloud. It’s exactly the same S a perfect blue sky. Oh the kimba shawl is perfect for finishing an outfit or for round your shoulders on a summers evening xxx
Thanks so much for this video, loved every minute of it. Great footage at the end. Have a lovely December, happy knitting on the gnome 😊, take care, XD
Another fab episode, lovely to see a bit of the festival and the spanish city life and good to see/hear you enjoyed yourself 😁 I think your slip over looks lovely on you, but then you need to be happy with it. How about styling it 'down' with a jean shirt and comfy jogger bottoms? Own the ease - I'm comfy and I look it! 🤣 happy knitting 💚 p.s. the shawl was gorgeous, no doubt you made the recipient very happy!
Hi Selma, I understand your objections to the vest t but I honestly think it looks fabulously on you! I was so much looking forward to your podcast an d it’s been worth the wait. Thanks a lot 💫💛
Hi! It was lovely to meet you in Barcelona Knits. ❤ I’ve knitted the Tandie and it’s a very interesting pattern but simple at the same time. I love the result. I hope you enjoy knitting and wearing it. 😘
Beautiful yarns and such a fun trip! The city look impeccably clean, wow! How beautiful! Felt the same way about knitting in December, and also hope to knit a gnome. All the best, Selma. - Kimberly
Hi Selma. I was in Barcelona when the ship I was on by the name of Freedom leaving Israel in 1960 for a two week ocean journey to New York moving to America when I was 14 and we spent a few hours there, and I found it so beautiful walking through a walkway with trees along the way with benches on the way and I never forgot how beautiful that city is. I am sure you had a good time there. Take Care. 😊
I think the vest is really pretty and the color look great on you. Maybe you would like to try it out with a tight long sleeved tee underneath? The boxiness of the vest would then in my opinion not be disturbing as much. Maybe even the length would be good 😘 Many thanks for sharing your knitting and thanks for the company 🥰
Oh, to be a traveller in your knitting bag! I have never been to either Madrid or Barcelona, they look like very beautiful places. A knitting retreat in the future, perhaps. I can't wait to see your little Christmas display that is in view behind you in your podcasts. Take care and catch your breath!
I’m knitting the Coorie In Poncho, too. I’m using 24 minis from a countdown calendar from Orlando Fiber Arts!! You’re so right, it’s a wonderful knit. I had a hard time putting it down to get ready for an appointment. LOL!
Thank you for sharing ! So Nice to see Barcelona again, so many lovely memories !All the nice Yarn you came back with 🥰 I also will knit the Poncho from Amy 👍your colour is beautiful
Hello Selma, You are so inspiring. Thank you so much, Sorry for my bad English, I'm francophone living in Whitehorse, Yukon. Anyway... I had such a good time with you all the time, this one in particular. Maybe next year, I'll go to Barcelone knits? You teased me. Best way to travel around the world . I just finished the Ilya and love it. Have you heard about Crux Fibers? Our little yarn shop in Whitehorse, Britanny is doing spinning, dyieng in wonderfull yarn. Long life to Little Big Knit, so happy to know you. :)
¡Hola Selma! 👋🏽 Me encantó este episodio. Gracias por compartir sobre los hilos e regalos bellos que adquiriste y sobre tus aventuras magníficas en Madrid e Barcelona.😍 ¡Espero la próxima! Saludos. 🩷
I picked up The Sweet Viscose from My Knitted Closet while at Barcelona Knits to make the Lobelia Top by Cecilia García Rodrigo. She had one made up and it looked great!
Hola Selma, thank you for the extraordinary podcast. I like it so much. Excause my english, I am Christine live in Austria and always I am watching your podcasts.
Always lovely knits! Just a thought. Instead of putting ribbing on the bottom of the vest, when you rip it out, how about continuing the lace pattern to the bottom and then just a simple bind off. Or do the lace pattern to the bottom then add like three knit rows so it won't curl. What a great trip! So much to see and the yarns were all beautiful. Thank you for sharing it all with us.
Oh Selma! what a lovely podcast as usual however a little more special. I loved the footage of the foods as it reminded me very much of all the "bars e botiquins" in Brazil where I was raised. Que delicias!!
A lovely podcast. Thank you so much for sharing your travels. You really make me want to go to Spain soon. In fact I'm resolved. The last time I was in Barcelona was on my honeymoon 25 years ago next Spring, so guess where I'll be heading... well hopefully after I convince my other half!😀
Thank you for such a beautiful podcast. I have never been to Spain, but architecture and the colors are amazing! Will need to put it on my bucket list. I especially loved the shawl for your mother-in-law, it is simply beautiful. I am so happy for you that you have a group of warm and friendly friends.
Really nice episode, thanks for sharing ❤ I haven't been to Madrid but it looks beautiful and I look forward to visit the city and yarn shops when I go there 🥰
Thank you for sending me down memory lane! Your footage of Madrid and Barcelona took me back to our trip in October 2019 where we visited Barcelona, Seville, Cordoba and Madrid. Also, another lovely episode. What beautiful acquisitions and gifts you were able to bring back. Wishing you peace and calm over the holidays!
About the beautyful shawl - I dont think the shortrows are the problem :) the reason its a bit to large in the top of the shawl is that it is garter stitch and the bottom is a lace that pulls the fabric together :)
Hi Selma, I loved seeing your podcast. The shawl for your mother in law is gorgeous! It was so great to meet you at Barcelona Knits, just wonderful :) Lovely images of Barcelona Knits, I liked seeing them. Wasn't it a great festival :) Hugs!
Karin it was such a pleasure indeed!! So glad!! And I have lovely memories from you as well! Thanks again!! It was a lovely festival and such a great trip overall that I long to go back!
I love the way you fixed your jeans! Ok. I just started a poetry pullover by Sari Nordlund, so I'll sign up for the Nordic KAL on ravelry. It's a very enjoyable knit so far.
Hello Selma, thank you for the wonderful footage of Barcelona. Reminded me of my trip there a few years ago. If you go back, I highly recommend visiting Casa Batlo. I loved it. As for the Ilha sweater, I think the lighter blue yarn would be lovely
Hi Selma, I was so excited to meet you at Barcelona Knits! Somehow I just did not think we would run into each other. I see you have my little Wolhobby shhh I'm counting button on the bag where the BadCattoo yarn was in. I know Francoise, the dyer, because we often vend at the same fairs. She is great! Have fun with picking a project for it. Unfortunately, I caught Covid in Barcelona so I started to feel ill 2 days after we got back. And my Adventproject started on December 1st (you have mentioned my advent in my first year, and it is still a returning event each year) and so did my vlogmasses (in Dutch and English, so always quite a bit of work), hence I am only now catching up with your European trip vlog. I had a great time at Barcelona knits and in Barcelona (my youngest was doing an internship there). I love your yarn haul. Can't wait to see what you will knit with it.
Thank you Selma for sharing both your knitting journey and your travels to Spain. I thoroughly enjoyed both.
You are so welcome!
Lars is actually here 😉
It was truly a pleasure meeting you Selma….hopefully we will meet again 👍🏼
Hello to him 😂

Wow to everything, thank you from Arizona, USA.
You are so welcome!

Sounds like a fabulous trip. Thanks for taking us along. Love seeing your "loot" and always enjoy what you are working on. Hi to Yoda.
Yoda says hi!
Us women are often too self-critical. I think you are beautiful in your lilac vest and the vest is beautiful too🤗🙂
Always lovely knits! Just a thought. Instead of putting ribbing on the bottom of the vest, when you rip it out, how about continuing the lace pattern to the bottom and then just a simple bind off. It certainly was!! It is still all very present with me too! Especially as I’m constantly wrapped in your woven hug!
LOVE YOUR KIMBA SHAWL! Beautiful colors
And to you!!
Loved the episode! Spain looked glorious! And by the way, I love the vest you are wearing just as it is. It is stunning on you!❤
Thank you 😊
Your vest looks good on camera with your blouse under it.
About the beautyful shawl - I dont think the shortrows are the problem :) the reason its a bit to large in the top of the shawl is that it is garter stitch and the bottom is a lace that pulls the fabric together :)
Interesting! Thanks for the insight 😊

It was lovely meeting you too!! Sorry it ended a little badly for you though!!
