Hi luxon123! You can connect the modicon M172 with the HMIST6400 via modbus serial or modbus tcp. There is a easy way to export the variables from the EcoStruxure Machine Expert HVAC and import them in the EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert but I have not done the video explanation yet.

@@LeTomasAHUMADA , thanks for the info, ive manged to assign address to both my global variable lists, however it wont allow variables to be assigned to the PVL persistant list, error code says "C0215: Direct Address declaration is not possible in persistent list" any ideas as i need these variables for hmi.

@@samwyard probably with time variables you will need to use a int o dint variables and then make the convertion in the plc, remember that the int/dint value should be in ms. For string variables you will need to make the calculation depending on the size of the string. I do not remember right now but if i am not wrong the declaration of the string is %MB in the plc and each character in the string is one byte then in the hmi you will need to access to the %MW variables of the plc
Hi Tom! The PLCs M241, M251 and M262 can be OPC UA Server but only the M262 has the possibility to be OPC UA Client. Regarding the HMIs in EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert (except the HMIST7) can be OPC UA Server but I do not remember having a driver for OPC UA Client in the software: www.se.com/ww/en/faqs/FA347698/

Hi Sebas! Even if the PLCs Modicon M241,M251,M262 has ethernet ip the HMIs on EcoStruxure Operator Terminal Expert do not have this kind of drivers (or i was not able to find this). If you do not want to use the SoMachine/Machine Expert Network you can use the "Modbus TCP Master" but you will need to add addresses to the variables on the PLC side.
Hello, how can I import the recipes saved on the HMI to the Ecostruxure Operator Terminal Expert program? I can do this by plugging a USB into the HMI. But I want to import via Ethernet.

Hi Fernando , I am into the Machine Expert rather than the Control Expert but check below my feedback: PLC (sim) to HMI (real) --> Even if the ip address of the PLC in the simulation is 127.0.0.1 you need to define on the HMI the ip address of your computer and assign it on the driver. (i just tested and it works) PLC (real) to HMI (sim) --> similar to this video th-cam.com/video/ZGvNAPbo-Hs/w-d-xo.html but instead of use NodeName use the IP without security and the modbus tcp driver PLC (real) to HMI (sim) --> Similar to previous video but use the ip address 127.0.0.1 or the one you have configured for the sim PLC. Basically, check the video: th-cam.com/video/ZGvNAPbo-Hs/w-d-xo.htmland Use a ModbusTCP Driver instead of the SoMachine/Machine Expert and it should work fine :)

If you are going to use the Modicon M241 to communicate with an HMI in Operator Terminal Expert along with the Machine Expert Driver then you must use "Nodename" otherwise you will not be able to communicate with the HMI.
