great review, I just watched the 90s TV show a few days ago for the first time. The Carnage is a complete reuse of the Monster Venom BAF wave Carnage even the accesories are the same. I think some years ago there was an Marvel Legends Animated Venom Figure (now on my list, even as KO), the biggest critique on it was the red and blue cellshading
In the cartoon he has that exact shading
They did release a Venom with cel shading in the retro-card line. I believe he was a store exclusive (Target?). I have a feeling he'll show up again in this line.
The venom was Hasbro pulse exclusive online
My complaint with carnage is how gummy and cheap the plastic is. Good set though but if you want the ultimate carnage get the S.H.Figuarts.
Extremely gummy. The only silver lining from the gumminess is that I don't feel it'll break.
@@pest174 Venom 3 pack. My Agony's right bicep peg broke practically out of the box with that gummy plastic. Then her head peg is hard plastic surrounded by gummy thin neck plastic and her head binds up too on articulation just stressing the whole gummy neck. I put a pin through her right arm into shoulder still articulates, and shaved her head peg down to free it up helps a little. Still very disappointing as I was looking forward to her. Scream from years back is solid and I got her used still in great shape good plastic.
I'm glad you saw it too. I'm staying away from that gummy plastic. I think the Venom pool BAF Carnage is good. Comes with God Carnage head, and body loaded with symbiote texture.

@@pest174 I think the gummy on gummy plastic sticks and makes friction. Her bicep rotation would move, freeze, move, freeze etc. then just twisted right off. Warmed her up before all that even. Maybe in retrospect some oil would work to smooth them, still fragile stuff though

The cel shading on symbiote Spider-man looks great in hand. Great set all around.
Thinking about grabbing this since I missed out on the non cell shaded Symbiote Spiderman. Not really loving the shading, so would likely paint him. The Cletus head looks a million times better detail/paint wise than the previous Monster Venom BAF release, so that's a plus. No more funky eyes.

I didn't know about this 2 pack. Last thing I saw and was excited about was Jack o lantern and tombstone figures...great review and totally agree that black costume Spidey should've came with a Peter Parker head. However with carnage..the reason why I am now getting this set ..I can improve on the ax. I am going to use the original 90s recipe for that action figure where it was a pull over attachment. The mask was a pull over on Cletus's head and a b.... To get off. Painting as well carnage needs more red in the face and black costume Spiderman...just going to paint it black.

Great review! Love this set but it feels kinda lazy.
I think you got an oops version, I double checked my Carnage’s blade accessory in this set and it’s straighter. I imagine you can straighten it with some heat and resetting it straight.
It bugs me they just reused a head on Carnage from a previous release. We could’ve gotten a more animated series accurate head.
It’s a bunch of repaints but I am glad I got this set either way because they’re still fun and look good.
Initially I had mixed feelings for this set, but there's so much potential. I gave them both a paint job, and shaved down Carnage's shoulders, so I can get a perfect T pose.

That blade accessory Carnage has is supposed to be straight (just double checked it on hasbropulse). Very telling of the quality of plastic used throughout the figure. I'm sure you could warm it back up to straighten though.
