To your question about "watching the entire train" when it comes to great classic footage like this the entire train is worth watching. So many roads no longer seen, no graffiti, bright clean colors you NEVER see anymore. How could anyone not want to see the entire train? Classic videos that show the entire train are so rare. They are a model railroaders dream come true. You can actually model the entire train from end to end. Every car that passes matters and makes for a perfect document to use as a base or mirror to base your trains off of.

I like watching the entire train in modern times, too, it's the only place left you can see names like "Chessie" "Southern Pacific" or "Santa Fe" on regular traffic

I only had time late one afternoon to watch one train on Donner, but it was something else, 18 units. Regret never getting back there again.

This IS gold! I really appreciate the Amtrak scenes. Looking forward to more in this series.

I personally enjoy seeing the entire train all all those classic fallen flags. This is really a gold mine of classic railroading. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Will NEVER understand how anyone who is fan of the SP would thumb down this video. If you're not an SP fan what the hell are you even doing here? Even the sometimes random TH-cam algorithm didn't force you to click on the video.

Even as an ATSF lover, I still love SP. Especially their tunnel motor units.

Thank you for sharing. Whole train or part train. I like both. Some of the old fallen flags are great to see.

Yeah…it’s the entire train we’d like to see. There are volumes of locomotive images of every type around already.
I remember the excitement I felt of seeing what type of boxcar I would see when I rode my bike to the nearby yard in the mid 70’s and then I was surprised to see a string of brand new bright yellow boxcars-Railbox!!

Awesome footage! Excellent quality for the era. The fisheye lens is great for the side shots of all the boxcars.

3:56. A mixed freight on Donner Pass can be seen. A series of SD40-2’s are pulling the long freight train.

    Great 5 part series!
Upvote for the whole train to be included, a gold mine for modelers like me with Espee circa 78 layouts especially. This is the kind of stuff I appreciate most out here. Subscribed!

First off, second engine at 4:04 is an SD45X, heck yeah! Secondly, I prefer to have the option to see all the cars of the trains. We each have the option to skip ahead if we want to, but if the material is not included at all, then something potentially historic or cool isn't even able to be seen. Like autoracks full of what looked to be Ford Pintos. That was just a short window in time when that was an occurrence that could be seen. Many times I see a train car coming in a train video that looks interesting or that has add load and then just before it gets into clear view, it's edited out. Oy! We must always remember, what we see everyday on the rails today and that we almost get bored to tears over will be gone and missed in 50-years and if we have a chance to document it while it's here, others 50 or 100-years from now will be able to see what we took for granted and be envious. Aren't we all glad a few shot film of Little Joes and Boxcabs in Montana, or Pennsy J1's and ATSF 5011's working together in Ohio, or full 22-car Daylight trains pulled by a single GS, or Pacific Electric running all over the L.A. area?

Wow, I watched the WHOLE thing!! That was great! I liked seeing a lot of the different trains, because the cars were so cool, and I didn't really feel like you showed a bunch of each train anyway. At 6:41 to 6:43 I just saw one of those cool old Santa Fe boxcars, take a look at my 2nd most recent video if you want to see it! : D

Please show the whole train. If someone gets bored they can fast forward the video. We that want to see the whole train that has been edited have noway to fix that. We are at your mercy.
