Thanks for your support so far on this channel... I will be using Christmas to try and plan some uploads and videos - Or I must just carry on being super disorganised and random!
Nice to see someone championing micro four thirds for a change, I switched from Sony & Nikon about 5 years ago and have never looked back, it is also so much easier when travelling to have the smaller size / weight loadout. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Scott. Portability, discretion and convenience are important to me. This way I can carry a camera with me and not be overly weighed down with kit.
As someone who is starting out on TH-cam I wanted to say thanks for this video, it's inspiring to see how you fit creating videos into a very busy schedule! It has encouraged me to keep going with my own creative efforts! Thank you! Also with you on the buying cheap quirky camera journey, I feel your aquisition pain! Keep up the great work!
Hey thanks! Love the username “old camera good camera”…. My advice would be to not sweat about getting things perfect in TH-cam. Just be you… this is my 3rd channel (long story) and that’s my number one piece of advice.
@TakenByTim that's great advice, thank you, I am convinced it's very easy to get in your own way and be too much of a perfectionist over this stuff. I am trying to keep my videos as honest to myself and my approach to photography as possible without too much in the way of overly producing and polishing.
Hi Tim, I recently decided to whittle down my camera collection and the GF1 was one that I sold. It was a very capable camera despite its age. A couple of months ago I bought the 7artisans 18mm 6.3f just for fun. I’ve paired it with an Olympus EPL7 shooting in monochrome mode and bumped up the ISO to offset the small fixed aperture. It’s surprisingly good as long as you try to avoid direct or bright side lights as flare/lack of contrast is very evident.
The answer is that if you don't need megapixels and don't have low light, then sure take a chance on an old m43 camera. They work but not as well in low light.
Yup. The sensor isn’t great for low light… I’ve learnt that recently, especially with this lens. It’s better with a “proper” prime lens like my 25mm f1.7.
Love the system, in this day and age you can make any image look great with software, I use affinity photo which is amazing with the raw files from my gx80, you just don’t need to spend a fortune on what is a hobby, just enjoy the journey
I shoot M43 and I got a Nikon DSLR also years ago and I start thinking I should get this lens and then a flash. I sold that camera. Later got a Fuji X-E1 and the 27mm f2.8 and started thing the same thing buy this and add it to the system. I never did buy anymore Fuji I just wanted to try the jpegs. If I buy a full frame camera at some point its just going to be a small kit. I shoot weddings and my kit is setup for weddings. I don't want to switch systems as I won't get a lot for M43 gear and switch over to mirrorless full frame. Plus none of my brides have never had a issue with what I shoot on.
I have too many cameras but have recently fallen in love with older digicams Imperfect photography. I am not trying to perfect the sharpest photo or video. The nostalgia of my older photos from film or 2mp digicams. With crazy flash. They just have captivated me and now I have a box of new old Nikon coolpix cameras
Thanks for commenting/watching. Chasing big numbers of pixels is not the answer and I'm having the most fun taking photos with a 7mp point and shoot from Canon.
@TakenByTim Sensorwise FF will still be the go to for most, but newer MFT bodies have all the bells and whistles and reliable autofocus, things that matter when you have a job to do.

If I slim down it will be my PowerShot G9 first I think.
I haven't picked up a m43 yet, but you sure make me want to. :)
I’m a man on a budget Chris. Buying a whole new body for £50-70 is the dream….

I just sold a GF1 on MPB a month or two ago…I wonder if that’s the one?😊
Do you know the serial number?
@@HeatherAyers1 there was only 1 on there.

Totally agree! And thanks for commenting and watching.

Thanks for sharing the details 👍🏼

Wait. What was for lunch? :)
I may have forgotten to eat 😂
If you don't need FF or MF for your work why not go MFT? Recent models are super capable if I am not mistaken.
Totally agree. I don’t know much about the newer models but I have seen a few videos and I understand the new sensors are pretty special.
