That CZ is beautiful. I have 2 boxes of German .22 that my dad brought back from WWII. Copper case covered with now dried up lube. Thanks for the videos.
Back about 35 years ago while in a local gun shop, I picked up some Russian made 22LR ammo, same thing, steel cased and the bullets had this thick waxy greased coating, the boxes face had a Trophy with crossed lightning bolts and a depiction of a match rifle and Pistol on it. Stuff shot outstanding. I went back to buy up some more and it was sold out and there was no more because someone brought it in and sold it to them. The Russians can make some impressive stuff. Peace - Dave

I bought some russian made .22 ammo years ago. It was steel as well but some of the worst ive ever used. On a warm day some would stick together from the lube softening. Lol it was very inconsistent. Thank you Brother. Another great video. God bless all here.

Looks like same lube they use to grease my van when I have oil change & lube. Better than ear wax lol. Does work well for thick lube. Havent seen any of that ammo before. Stay safe & be careful in the campgrounds. 🙏👍🇺🇸
@buffalosoutdoors I bet lol. One of first times we camped at a USFS campground about 35yrs ago police showed up at daylight asking if we saw or heard "anything" that night. Someone was beaten & dumped out 300yds from our tent. The old 870 & 38 snubby was kept closer the next 2 nights. Can get wild. 👍🙏
I had some of the green box with the rooster, russian steel case 22, just as greasy, guaranteed stuck case every shot. Same headstamp if I remember right.
Glad to see you’re back with the CZ. I enjoy your shooting in the early 90s. I had some Russian match ammunition that was $.80 a box. It shot well but it was hard to shove into a match chamber. Keep up the good work.
i absolutely LOVE CZ firearms. I own several of their handguns an a scorpion. If I didn't have a small fortune in my Ruger 10/22 build I would definitely buy the CZ 457 varmint ( I still might lol )BEAUTIFUL rifle! Great shooting as always brudda!!!!
Maybe someone, somewhere thinks that when you measure your group spread at .01349375 meters--they completely understand, and are awestruck that American tape measures are so accurate by eye, but I think that most of us are only impressed by your mathematical conversion ability, and not the actual spread in meters. Maybe 13.4 mm would be easier to relate to--even for Russians. Though "they" were using the metric system 'first', I will never convert, nor will most, and see it as an annoyance, and meaningless. Like speaking a different language and having to translate to understand, it forces the mind off-topic to "get it". If you said it's 34C outside, I'd think it was kinda cold. Ya know? I am not a troll, I am subscribed--have been for years maybe, and really like your precise methodology. I have nothing to complain about, and enjoy ALL your content! You are unbiased in your comparisons, and are as honest as can be IMO. Your testing, and shooting skills are quite above normal, so your findings are established truth to many of us. Your measuring techniques are precise, and since you did not use specialized macro measuring optics to read the spread--I know you would rather speak in English measurements, too! Like '50 yards, 3/4 inch, etc. Not to make a direct comparison--but I don't drink Bud Light since that homosexual commercial, I would NEVER vote Demasz on a ballot--(the reasons are everywhere in your face all the time), and though I am old--this world can never convert ME to any of its ILK. Very Wells Shot groups😊 For us european, if you covert measurements: yard to meter, Group sizes to Millimeter, Fahrenheit to Celsius But otherwise Continue on😊
Thanks, Buffalo. I missed you!👍 Not bad accuracy at all. I wondered how that ammo would do in the 457's match chamber. The velocity average is kind of high for "standard velocity ammo" which is usually 1040-1070 fps, but low for "high velocity" ammo which is usually 1250+ fps. 🤷♂ Must be "Russian standard" velocity.
You’re exactly right. That CZ does have an advertised barrel length of 20” (I measure it at closer to 20.5”) and most of the standard velocity ammo tests I’ve done have given velocities on the high side. So this could possibly be “standard” velocity out of a 16” barrel. I sure am glad to be back out on the range making videos. Hopefully I can keep it up.
7:30 - And here I was thinking Buffalo was preparing for the Invasion of the Fembots! ;p BTW, it's possible that break-in group left a layer of that lube behind that contributed to the following tighter groups. Just a thought. Also, Vostok is Russian for, "East," and was the type of spacecraft the USSR used to fly the first human, Yuri Gagarin, into space and back.
Hi Buffalo and greetings from NH. I was just wondering when we might see another “A man’s got to know his limitations” video? Those are a hoot and they motivate me to reach out further than 10-20yd with my p32, it’s insanely tough and you made it look easy!
I’m actually down about 40 lbs this year. So the videos you last saw me in must have been several years old. I had some medical issues and couldn’t walk for a while which led to a lot of weight gain. Slowly working it off now as I am fully able to walk on my own again. I’m just glad to be alive and be back on the range!
hope the coming debbie storm doesn't flood your creek out like that other hcaine did to you severa years back. seems to me that you got into a boat or kayak of some sort that you pushed off into the drink near the edge of your yard and part of your target backstop was submerged pretty good then. take care!!!!!
It sure would make clean up easier. I bought this stuff over 3 years ago and can’t remember what I paid. I may have said in the other video about it. I’d have to watch that one to tell you for sure.
Great video Buffalo. Most people don't understand the importance of seasoning a rimfire bore when changing ammo. I have a CZ in .22 Mag. Those things sure can shoot.
I learned that just by getting out and shooting groups. I noticed that when changing to a bullet with different lube the first group was almost always the worst group. Thanks for watching!
Hey Buff, you may have hit on something here. With the price of everything through the roof it makes sense to try the cheap(er) stuff available so we can shoot more. I've not seen that Russian steel stuff anywhere, but if I do I'll buy a little to try. Good stuff!
Damn man!! I haven’t gotten a single video of yours in my feed in 5 months! Looks like I have some catching up to do! I don’t know why and thought about it today and searched you up to make sure I was still subbed and I was, so I don’t know why you ain’t been showing up.
As usual, Buff, you can’t hit the broad side of the tip of a needle, put pretty darn close! 😂 That CZ in your hands is an impressive little shooter, regardless of the ammo you’re using! 👍
I don't know exactly what type of chamber that CZ utilizes on the 457, but using a Bentz or match type chamber on average ammunition (not longer Stinger casings) turns that average into above average.
The Rifleman's Guide to Rimfire Ammunition tested this stuff some years ago and it was garbage. Not super consistent with a lot of fouling. I would be happy to hear that it has improved but I'm sure it is as unobtainable as any Russian product.
