    My mom thinks I’m crazy for spending so much money on dental products and keeping my teeth clean she jokes around and says “who you tryna impress with ur smile?” I laugh and say my dentist
    But like seriously I’m terrified of them so having to get a filling would kill me!! I’m not the only one right?

      I wish a filling was all I was worried about 😂 I’ve had to put so much money into my mouth. Special cleanings, laser gum treatments, crowns and fillings. You're saving yourself a lot of money by taking good care of them.

I do the same for my son but not sure what I can do differently because he complains his teeth hurt when I brush them ( been using fluoride free didn’t know what you just taught me). Yes he goes to the dentist but they never mentioned fluoride tooth paste was a must. Can’t see one at the moment due to quarantine. Any tips are welcome.

    • @DoctorKrysten
      @DoctorKrysten  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes! This is correct. It's best to not rinse your mouth with water after brushing to allow the fluoride to do it's job. However, if you can't stand not rinsing (like me sometimes lol) you can do a LIGHT swish with water, or even better, you can use a mouthwash with fluoride like Listerine Zero (the purple one). Hope this helps!

    • @DoctorKrysten
      @DoctorKrysten  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Oh no, don’t brush your gums directly. If you brush your teeth the way I described, then it also covers the area of your teeth under your gums. Brushing your gums directly causes bleeding and your gums will eventually start to recede

      When I had braces, I remember my orthodontist told me to always brush my gums. And I’ve been in the habit ever since, now over 6 years. I do brush them directly, but with a gentle, subtle touch. And if you do it daily, you truly don’t need any harsh pressure or actual “brushing” at all. It’s a simple swab like motion with the toothbrush just to make sure you remove any food particles. I do like to brush thoroughly just as it was shown in the video, right against the edges of the gums, though always gentle.

    Fluoride: Good for your teeth, not so much for the rest of your body.

    Is there a way to NOT gag when brushing ur tongue? Its impossible for me 😂

      I know this comment is kinda old haha but I gag so badly when brushing my tongue and I learned a little trick to help. Make a fist with your hand and tuck you thumb inside. It doesn’t stop me from gagging completely but it def helps !!

    Fluoride is really bad for you and ur teeth

  • @yeedig01
    @yeedig01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’m with you except for the fluoride part. More and more toothpaste are coming out without fluoride due to it being a chemical and can be harmful to your teeth. I recommend a fluoride free toothpaste with nano hydroxyapatite. It is a mineral that is what bones are made of, and gently remineralizes the enamel.

    • @DoctorKrysten
      @DoctorKrysten  3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I'm sorry, but that's really inaccurate. Yes, hydroxyapatite is primarily what teeth are made of, but you should really look into reading some credible scientific articles on the toxicity and function of fluoride as well as hydroxyapatite (I can share some if you'd like). You will learn that those claims are really misconstrued and misleading. Patients that come in that are anti-fluoride have significantly more dental caries than those who don't...this impacts not only their oral health, but systemic health and can lead to greater problems down the road. Please be careful of spreading misinformation on non-statistically significant research.
