    Fascinating to see the process and stock. Wishing you could do our local park lake, carp disappeared in October, and it would confirm the rumor of a 40lb common that's supposed to be there. The idea of thinning out the bream would also be nice, we have some dustbin lids sized that love boilies and anything particle.
    Love the behind the scenes videos, thanks for sharing and tight lines for 2025

    Very interesting about the idea to leave the big cats in. Those are some serious predators and grow to some massive sizes as all they will do is eat and eat and eat. At least youre always on top when it comes to fishery management so you'll know if they are impacting the fish stocks.

    Interesting Matt, about the Cats and Pike not mixing well. A couple of small waters I have fished with cats to 60+ also produced pike to mid 20’s, I would think it creates an imbalance in the number of small pike but a few big one grow on. Mind you I guess your biggest cats could manage a 20lb Pike.

    Had a thought just now.. How do you sustain 4000 lbs of fish in 4 acres?
    For reference here in the USA our Largemouth bass/ Bluegill ponds hold up to 400 lbs per acre of fish IF you have fertile water AND you supplementally feed high protein fish food to your bluegill.

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      We have a supplementary feeding program and our customers put bait in the lake every week during 7 months.

    I didn't understand why you wanted to take out the baby catfish, until I saw the adult version. I suppose babies would eat a lot of your carp and other small fish. And I'm surprised those huge ones haven't eaten all the small stuff.
    Why don't you want the bream? Here in the States people want them in lakes or ponds. I'm not criticizing, I'm curious.
    Maybe you do have some carp spawning but the big catfish eat them? Seems like bream would be good catfish food. What do those big cats eat?

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’ve got a completely different perspective, my business is offering carp and cat fishing holidays to anglers and carp anglers don’t want to catch bream or small catfish. These smaller fish use food and oxygen that I’d rather the bigger fish have. It’s a tricky balance. The carp eggs are eaten by the silvers. The big cats will eat anything but they’re also lazy and will eat bait that anglers put in the lake.

    Fascinating video. Personally I would have removed all the cats along with the bream and leave only carp, roach and zander. I think cats and zander don't get along very well as the zanders are easy prey for the cats.

    Hi Matt, what will the cats eat for 3 months if you take out all the silvers?

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Niall, the cats are dormant during the winter, between October and March, they're inactive, and there are still plenty of small silvers left.

    • @niallwilson9745

    Can i ask why you think there arent any baby carp

    • @matthewcollinsangler
      @matthewcollinsangler  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's because if we had them, we would see them in the netting, the carp eggs are eaten by the silver fish 😊 The survival rate of carp spawn is very low.
