The more I listen to Haruna the more amazed am I over her delicate cymbal work. And how efficient she is behind the drums. Well their concerts are almost 2 hours and almost this tempo the whole concert so she has to be efficient I guess. Not a drummer but I learn lots of things on your channel. Keep up the good work!

I've always felt that drummers must be created differently from the rest of us. If you're doing double bass, either with one or two drums, one foot is doing one thing while the other is doing something else - like the hi-hat maybe, or another bass drum - and then your left and right hands do completely different things. That's four different movements that you have to split your brain to manage. Add some singing like some drummers and you have a fifth...You guys are worthy of much more respect than you get! Haruna makes it seem so damn easy. I just wish they had a cam on her feet too...
That bell is so much better than the typical ride bell hit I wonder why more don't do like Haruna does mounting it on the ride. She uses that thang on nearly every song. Hell she hits everything on most songs.

It's like this, it doesn't matter what you do on top. The bass drum keeps the beat, and the same time. She's good, this is why the bass player and drummer always play in sync.
Yes! Haruna uses Pearl eliminator pedals. Springs looks so tight and the beater settings are just a little bit near bass drum head. Maybe this setting means the foot are always on boards and minimum move to kick the double pedals pattern I think.
HARUNA and AKANE AKANE is a drummer of BAND-MAID. LOVEBITES and BAND-MAID are top-class bands in the Japanese rock world. Therefore, the two are often compared. At BAND-MAID's live concerts, there are many drum solo productions, and the scene where AKANE is spotlighted stands out. On the other hand, at the live performance of LOVEBITES, there are not many productions of drum solos. I am worried that HARUNA's existence will be weakened by being overwhelmed by the amazing guitar performance. (It may be HARUNA's intention not to like overly noticeable performance) While playing the band, I am fascinated by the guitar and vocals. And only after the song is over, I will notice. Thanks DN for spotlighting Haruna. Everyone is crazy about her Constant metronomic doubles, but I am particularly fascinated by her very delicate cymbal work - especially on that f-ing Ice Bell.
I've not seen an isolated shot of her before so there were a few things I noticed. First, she is wearing a dress. Do you consider this helpful or a hindrance? Next her legs start with the song beginning and never let up for the whole way. She never broke a sweat and actually had the appearance of a young girl sitting on a park bench listening to a song on Pandora, singing along. Technically, she is very good while making it look very easy.

Cool. The part where the feel changes, to quarters on the hat, she also switched to snare on the one, a “simple?” trick the proggers like queensryche and dream theater use, but they often go back and forth to confound you, Haruna just sneaks it in so you just sense “something’s changed”, clever girl, ya?! 🥁💃😎
What I love about Haruna is she utilizes every cymbals she has. she never miss to hit them. not like other drummers who place them just for the displays just to look cool. The accents she does really add up more to the songs. so impressive
To me the combo ride, bell, ride, stack she did many times and when she is waving her head the right hand alternates snare and high hat while left is hat only. Girl loves her cymbals and she has a couple of tiny ones like on the hh in her kit.
I'm not a drummers toothpick. But my son is a damn good drummer, so I'm used to all the things that go into drumming after his growing up under the house with all his gear & practice sessions. I always love your reactions & reviews man. In my opinion, the more you pause & replay, with enlightened comments, the better. How else do you teach & entertain ? But Lovebites eh! Five of the best musos around. There's only a few videos of just Haruna on the kit. But they are all worth watching.

haruna! haruna! haruna! her technique is flawless and so efficient, but she is also a "musical" drummer. her drums always sound amazing, her power and energy are almost unbelieveable and most important: you can always see her (tamus too) pure joy, while beating the drums.
You are right they need to feature Haruna more she is amazing. They do a cover of Painkiller and I finally got to see her do a real full on solo....it was glorious. I do not even normally notice drums much (I know that is heresy sorry). I am always in love with the guitar solos from Lovebites. Do not take the criticisms from those defending Lovebites too seriously, the Wolfpack is a bit over protective. Sometimes they read into comments to find negative criticisms they have heard from others. This is my favorite current metal band; I love the enthusiasm they create.

However - and I am Canadian (Alberta)- I will offer a comment on your Tim Horton reference; terrible coffee… yes, it is a matter of personal taste, but (and I hate Mc Dees…) McCafe has much better regular coffee - I don’t know what happened to Tim Horton’s, but their coffee doesn’t cut it…just my opinion. I still love the idea of timmy's and if you leave canada for 12 years as I have, you start to appreciate things. I actually did leave Canada for 25 Years; just came back (mandatory retirement due to age where I lived and worked in Asia…) 7 months ago…very different place from whenI left!
I am a bit of a coffee/ beer snob (small batch Indonesian coffees and good craft IPA) but do drink regular coffee when I’m out and about…!
Timmy’s WAS good back in the day; but not so much now (for my taste…). Where in Canada are you?
One other thing: if you are a fan of great - not good, but GREAT - drumming and you really like Haruna, please check out AKANE HIROSE, the drummer from another mega-talented 5-piece Japanese all-girl Hard Rock band BAND - MAID (the song ‘Freedom’ from the Live in Zepp Tokyo YT video in which Akane has a drum solo…)! Akane and Haruna are good friend in real life, and their talent is top shelf!
One other thing: once you check out Band - Maid, you’ll probably undergo an epiphany: these ladies, like LOVEBITES, are unbelievably awesome…!
Oh man that sounds amazing, being in Asia for so long - sounds like it must have been an absolute dream time away. I'm from a small town called Amherstburg but now in England. Amherstburg dosen't share the same beauty however as places such as Calgary, Kelowna and the like - but it's home all the same :) Oh I have seen those gals and done a few videos on them - absolute pwerhouses they are! I love Band Maid and LoveBites. Starting this channel has helped me learn about so many great bands and drummers - I love it! Be well.
