    Beautiful shirts as always. I have been making myself and family some tie dye shirts. It is so fun. I think I will make it a tradition for part of Christmas gifts! I wear tie dye daily, made by my sister. Since she got her new kitchen she won't do it. I'm glad because I am having so much fun tie dyeing --using your suggestions. Thank you so much.

    I really like the black one, how the 'white' areas actually came out purple! Well it was purple before washing, anyway. It seems like this method lets a single color separate into it's component colors.

    These make me think that it’s not necessary to spin out all the soda ash. This has been an issue of concern for me because I don’t want to wear out my washing machine!

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it depends on what kind of a design you are working on.... here I just used one color and wanted random saturation .... but other times I want to be more precise with my dyes and too much liquid can interfere with that.... BUT... if you are not having any issue, then I say keep on doing what you are doing... there is no 'One right way' to do tie-dye .... find what works and have fun!!

    If it is cold when batching will it come out vibrant if you batch for a couple of days or do you really need a warm temperature for good results?
    Can't wait to try this method it seems so easy and the results were excellent!

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not experimented much with colder temps for batching... I had read that these dyes needed at least 70F to set up... so I have always done that.....
      but I have seen other dyers who say they batch at lower temps ..... so you might try it out and see for yourself which you prefer....
      So, yes batching for a longer time helps, as it gives more of the dye particles a chance to bond with the cotton fibers ... have fun!!

    Is it better to add a iron on before or after dying a shirt

    • @MrTieDye
      @MrTieDye  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      if possible, I do it after dyeing the tee... mostly because after dyeing, you need to rinse/wash the tee a lot .... so putting it on after dyeing and washing, it will look fresher .....
      but I have done it both ways as sometimes a customer shows up with a tee and wants it dyed

    I'm doing the scrunch method in different colors but when I rinse the shirt after drying them the colors melt into each other and ends up pretty much into a dirty piece of rug😭 What am I doing wrong? I followed the soda ash method, even soaked it a lot longer than 20mins. I tie dyed the shirt while it's damp. I let it dry in open air after dyeing and then opened it up after about 6hrs and rinsed it. Help

      How many colors are you using and which colors. It may be the colors you chose make mud color when mixed.

    • @tereselapree222
      @tereselapree222 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are doing this pour method. Are you using procrion dye?
      Tie the shirt in the desired style. Soak in soda ash water. Move to a grate. Pour 8 ounces of mixed dye over. Then you need to let the batch or set for 48 hours. If they dry out before the time is up, the dye action stops. So to stop that drying out you can put a lid on the container or out the dyed shirt in a plastic bag.
      Then when the 48 hours are up, rinse in clear water until most of the dye is out. Wash in hot water with a small amount of synthrapol detergent.

    • @tereselapree222
      @tereselapree222 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fret2023 ok you bleached it to start over good. If youvused bleach did you neutralize it too? Using a water and peroxide solution? It stops the bleach from destroying the fabric. Nine parts water and one part peroxide then soak the shirt for 20 minutes. Make sure the shirt it covered in the solution. Then rinse it, wash it . Soak in soda ash and dye. Youbdo not have to wrap in plastic but don’t let it dry out. Set something over it helps it not dry out too. A bucket or pan . Plastic tote. It needs 24 hours of damp dye to develop the color good.
