Lamborghini, Ferari and others are making cars for tens of years (some more than 100) ... then here came Elon Musk with the Tesla and in less than 10 years he is mass producing the quickest car on Earth...plus with the most advanced Autopilot technology...with real time updates like no other car has...etc Not to mention SolarCity and SpaceX !!! What is this guy !?!y !?!
Not even sure why putting Lamborghini or Ferrari in there was relevant, neither has intentions of mass producing cars. As for it being the quickest car, this is true.... in a straight line. Any comparable ICE car would absolutely smoke its ass in any race that included corners, due to the tesla's incredible weight and inability to complete a circuit under full power. The straight line speed is due to its ability to output maximum power immediately as the power is requested. Now don't get me wrong, I think Tesla, SpaceX, and SolarCity are possibly the innovating companies of the future, and there's no question Elon Musk is a VERY intelligent person, and possibly the Henry Ford and Wright Brothers of our time. But his cars aren't going to beat a ICE in performance for a bit. Credit to him for his incredible ability to keep making innovations.

5 years passed and I have still dreamed of this car. It's nice to see a big progression on the same product. Improved built quality, increased range and acceleration, FSD beta, what an amazing time to be alive to see this kind of progression. As a software engineer, I am really enjoying the newest software updates, techs all the time. It would be really nice to be part of these breakthrough improvements.

Rewatching this in 2022....after 2.5 years ownership of my Model3. Love it...this is where I fell in love....and then all over again after driving of for the first time. This car doesn't get old.
It's what business should be. Some of the profit from model X and S went to wages and physical expansion (factories) but most went into development of future cars. However you look at Elon, it's hard not to respect him.

What’s more incredible in the life of Tesla, is that every component of this car is totally new, never seen before and required a raise from absolutely non existent production line , But Tesla managed it all. Probably only tires were just ready.
I've had my Model 3 LR RWD for 4 years and 85,000 miles, it's been a great car. I've run it up to 140 on open highways several times. It runs 13.40s at 105 in the 1/4 mile.
If you look at the gray model 3 it looked like they were thinking of using the tesla model s door handles for the model 3 wondered if they would have been better than the redesign?
It was late 31st March in the US. I think it was April 1st in Europe where I watched from - and even if not, it certainly would've been in Australia. Even though I'm not sure Elon was referring to that when he said "somewhere". I remember thinking he just meant a premature April fools joke.

I remember watching this event live in the middle of the night here in Europe. Dreaming about owning a Tesla some day, and today I have a Model 3. That is crazy. Driving the car is so spectacular and the minimalistic design with the “tablet” is just so great. The tech is far superior to other cars I have driven. I absolutely love driving my car, never ever thought I would like a car so much. Previously a car for me was just to get from A to B. I can never go back to none electric, that is for sure, and I am pretty sure my next car will also be a Tesla.
Those Aero wheels are the best and never became available... and the matte dark grey, along with the Model S handles... hope some day this Model 3 variant returns because this is an insane combination!!

Before the Tesla, people never believed that the Electric cars would reach a point where not only are they reasonably acceptable with a usable range, but immensely fun to drive- with stunning designs, smart technologies, and unexpected performances. Then comes the Model 3, and totally revolutionizes the Auto Industry. Despite the endless hatred it receives towards the 'Silence of a fridge', 'cheap interiors and exteriors', it goes to proving that not only can electric cars be fun to drive, in the coming years, their neglect is beyond unaffordable. In the end, you do not want a mechanical engine noise. You want a working lung. You do not want a cabin full of unnecessary knobs and buttons when the same functions could be achieved by the slightest of a touch. There's a reason the keypad phones were discontinued and replaced with smartphones. When they first came out, they received overwhelming responses too- ranging from inspiring words of appreciation to extreme despise. What's happening with Tesla right now is hardly any different. People complaining of the interior being too empty obviously are not ready for the future yet- which aims at minimalistic designs with maximum functionality. Granted, Electric cars do not get rid of the pollution 100%, but would you honestly say that they're not making tremendous efforts into the direction? For a company as young as Tesla, saying that Model S and 3 is a new step towards innovation is a drastic understatement. Speed, safety, A CONCERN FOR ENVIRONMENT a futuristic design, OTA updates, FSD, Summon, 300+ miles of range, superior handling and comfort, mild to no maintenance costs, not to mention all the easter eggs, plus the rapidly increasing number of Superchargers, what other car near its price range could possibly compete? For those claiming that Tesla is shit because its designing does not include unnecessary openings and knobs, and that because it runs silently without farting poisonous gases, your way of thinking is better suited to a 5 year old who can't tell his desires from his needs. Now I understand that everyone has a different personal taste, and one thing might not appeal equally to all- but assuming that because something does not appeal to you it is trash is imo, a deeply immature perspective. Let's appreciate this new innovation and take a moment to think how these EVs can and are significantly help(ing) the environment, all the while not compromising with the fun of driving.
Wow, you are a smart person. Well said! I would, however, disagree with the interior part. Knobs and buttons are more human friendly because we have muscle memory and it's a less error prone method of input. Plus, it's more precise and the haptic feedback is reassuring. So, they do have their place. And the interior of a Mercedes is still way better than a Tesla. Overal tho, Tesla is really revolutionizing the auto industry as your comment shows.

I've had my Model 3 LR RWD for 4 years and 85,000 miles, it's been a great car. I've run it up to 140 on open highways several times. It runs 13.40s at 105 in the 1/4 mile.

It was late 31st March in the US. I think it was April 1st in Europe where I watched from - and even if not, it certainly would've been in Australia. Even though I'm not sure Elon was referring to that when he said "somewhere". I remember thinking he just meant a premature April fools joke.

I remember watching this event live in the middle of the night here in Europe. Dreaming about owning a Tesla some day, and today I have a Model 3. That is crazy. Driving the car is so spectacular and the minimalistic design with the “tablet” is just so great. The tech is far superior to other cars I have driven. I absolutely love driving my car, never ever thought I would like a car so much. Previously a car for me was just to get from A to B. I can never go back to none electric, that is for sure, and I am pretty sure my next car will also be a Tesla.

Elon Musk is the brand image of the Car
Before the Tesla, people never believed that the Electric cars would reach a point where not only are they reasonably acceptable with a usable range, but immensely fun to drive- with stunning designs, smart technologies, and unexpected performances. Then comes the Model 3, and totally revolutionizes the Auto Industry. Despite the endless hatred it receives towards the 'Silence of a fridge', 'cheap interiors and exteriors', it goes to proving that not only can electric cars be fun to drive, in the coming years, their neglect is beyond unaffordable.
In the end, you do not want a mechanical engine noise. You want a working lung.
You do not want a cabin full of unnecessary knobs and buttons when the same functions could be achieved by the slightest of a touch. There's a reason the keypad phones were discontinued and replaced with smartphones. When they first came out, they received overwhelming responses too- ranging from inspiring words of appreciation to extreme despise. What's happening with Tesla right now is hardly any different.
People complaining of the interior being too empty obviously are not ready for the future yet- which aims at minimalistic designs with maximum functionality.
Granted, Electric cars do not get rid of the pollution 100%, but would you honestly say that they're not making tremendous efforts into the direction? For a company as young as Tesla, saying that Model S and 3 is a new step towards innovation is a drastic understatement. Speed, safety, A CONCERN FOR ENVIRONMENT a futuristic design, OTA updates, FSD, Summon, 300+ miles of range, superior handling and comfort, mild to no maintenance costs, not to mention all the easter eggs, plus the rapidly increasing number of Superchargers, what other car near its price range could possibly compete?
For those claiming that Tesla is shit because its designing does not include unnecessary openings and knobs, and that because it runs silently without farting poisonous gases, your way of thinking is better suited to a 5 year old who can't tell his desires from his needs.
Now I understand that everyone has a different personal taste, and one thing might not appeal equally to all- but assuming that because something does not appeal to you it is trash is imo, a deeply immature perspective.
Let's appreciate this new innovation and take a moment to think how these EVs can and are significantly help(ing) the environment, all the while not compromising with the fun of driving.

Wow, you are a smart person. Well said! I would, however, disagree with the interior part. Knobs and buttons are more human friendly because we have muscle memory and it's a less error prone method of input. Plus, it's more precise and the haptic feedback is reassuring. So, they do have their place. And the interior of a Mercedes is still way better than a Tesla. Overal tho, Tesla is really revolutionizing the auto industry as your comment shows.
@@afif4738 Well, people who do own a Tesla don't regret the interior at all. They're the ones who don't want to go back to knobs and buttons, because they feel that they're unnecessary and obviously, I understand why a non-owner would feel this way- it takes time to get used to something new.
As for the overall look of the interior, it's subjective, but I do think that Mercedes is ahead of Tesla
