I recommend watching this video. The explanation of the topics are clear and concise. Having different types of product and how they react to thinners made this video very useful to me. Also there is no annoying music going on while he's talking.
Awesome tutorial Will. I just received a set of Abteilung oils and I'm looking forward to trying some of your techniques on a practice model. Thx for posting. ✊🏾
Hi Will. I’ve never tried using oil washes before so this video has answered a lot of questions I had so I’m going to go and give it a go now. Many thanks for your great advice mate.
Very useful info, what was the chassis/frame for please? I am slowly doing a Vietnam guntruck diorama, and would like to prepare the chassis then weather it accordingly. Thanks in advance.
Hey Will, my 2 dollars question is, can you prepare washes in larger quantity and keep them in bottles so that when you need them you don't have to prepare some every time ?
You are taking this hobby to another level. Love the stitching effect on the helmet, WOW. My holdup is slow drying time...I don't have the patience to wait a week. How fast does the W/N fast dry stuff take?? and what about the Aqualung paints (Abteilung)? Do your videos, say what you have to say and time be dammned!!!
washes don't take that long...overnight easily, especially if you put it by a heat source. i force dry pure oils overnight with a space heater blowing on them.
Man, do you have a more in-depth guide on some of the earlier build-up you achieved on that chassis? I have a robot that I would love to replicate that finish on.
Can I just double check with you that these oils and thinners are safe on top of model air acrylics and tamiya gloss/flat coats? The W&N oils you're using are exactly the ones I'm looking to purchase :)

Great Job Will. Easily explained for any level. Kudos on the Bust so far. Thanks for sharing

Great tips and that chassis looks absolutely fantastic. Dan

Explanation at its best... no way to make it better... thank you Sir.....
Well done Will. That’s one beat up truck frame.
Good stuff, Will. I knew there was something off with the Winton I was using. Keep up the great work. You are a great asset to the hobby. Model on.

Interesting video dude,i will try some of theses techniques on my next build F-16C ! Always fun to watch thanks !
Thanks. I bought a set of inexpensive oil's from Hobby Lobby but was NOT happy with the results. Now I know why.
Sans Odor! Oooooohhhh!!
I get it now.
I've been loftily calling it San-sa-DOOR. Aren't I precious?
Excellent 10 minute effort ;)

Great brand of oils love using them
Very useful. Very clear.
How long need the wash to dry so a person can removed the excess?

yup. you'll be fine.
Nice tutorial! Thanks.
Some good tips.
Fantastic as always...;)
nice tutorial Will
Love 10 minute technique. You could even go 20 if you wanted to.
Noooo! Don't encourage him. He can speechify with the best.
Lots of good info here Will, I will be using this on my Clerget build for sure. Thanks for (almost) hitting the 10 minute mark!
I've been following your Clerget build. Looks beautiful!
Awsome videos! It's so great. Thx for helping modeller community! Much love as you say but from sweden
Will, can you please do a video on using transparent white. I still can't get the right effect. Looking to make a sun bleached effect on aircraft.
consider titanium white. tw has a bluish cast that doesn't always work well.
Nice demo Will. You made it to 14mins but that is OK. :D Love the pilot head, Great job.
Will, out of curiosity, what do you use to clean your brushes after applying oil washes? Thanks.
mineral spirits.
The good sansodor or hardware stuff?
the cheap stuff is fine.
Could you use Lacquer Thinner in place of Mineral Spirits for thinning these?
absolutely not. mineral spirits is what makes all this work.
Cool, thanks.
"Man up"! :-)
Your brush is a natural fibre rather than man made nylon fibre giving you more precision.
Nice bro
Man, I hope a lot of that work shows through in the final trucks, it looks too good to be hidden
