    I have a specific case if you can please help with a reply. To apply for EI for Caregiving (end of life case), the website says EI can be claimed 'within the 52 week period of Doctor's note of diagnosis'. But what happens if there is a cancer diagnosis more than 3 years ago but the end of life was obviously unknown. But if the doctor writes a note today confirming that the patient is approaching end of life in the next 6 months, will that be acceptable for EI caregiving - End of life category?
    Because diagnosis of cancer may happen anytime in the past beyond the past 52 week period, but end of life is known now (recently).
    Any comments please?

    Hello 👋... please what's difference between weekly amount and benefits rate ei. I have a benefit rate of 300 but a weekly amount of 20 .

    • @raabta8106
      @raabta8106  ปีที่แล้ว

      Benefit rate is calculated based on what you have earned and then based on that amount your weekly amount is calculated . Insurance (EI) benefits is 55% of average insurable weekly earnings, up to a maximum amount of 61500

    Does it impact our PR application in a negative way if we apply for EI sickness benefits? In case you are on work permit.

    • @raabta8106
      @raabta8106  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No it won’t affect your PR application. You just need to qualify when you apply for PR and they don’t look at your current job status. You are applying for EI because you were once employed and have been paying for it. It’s just like an insurance and now you are entitled for it when you lost your job. So no need to worry.

I am an international student and I have been working full time from September 2023 and today is my last day as I am getting laid off. It’s just with the new rule I can work part time only now onwards till August 2024, but I have been contributing to EI. So, will I be eligible?

      Unfortunately the answer is No, when you are on employment whether full time or part time or seasonal , you can’t apply for EI. The fist condition to apply for EI is that you are without work and of course there are other conditions also apply after that.

      If you have worked atleast required hours which is different for every region due to different unemployment rates (420 to 700) then I don’t think you should have any problem getting EI. Secondly, when you are working in one company and you got laid off from other , in that case you will never get EI as you are working . If your second company is not that great then in that case leave that job and apply for EI. I just don’t know your whole scenario but I will advise you to apply for EI in case you don’t have any job now.

      Use ROE which your company must have given you at the time of lay off. Even if you didn’t get ROE, still you can apply without it if you have pay stubs to prove it. Just apply online ( that’s best) and don’t delay it too much.

Assuming both have same salary , both will get same EI amount and for an year only. The person who worked for 5 years will not get EI for 5 years. maximum EI you get is only one year . @raabta8106  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@garrydhillon326 Technically yes and no both. You will get T4E slip in Feb for the benefits paid which will also show the income tax deducted. Now , lets say in year 2024 you get T4E for the benefits paid in 2023 ,, and there was no other income other than EI benefit , then generally there is no other income tax needs to be paid as it is already deducted, but in case you had a job or any other source of income before getting EI or after getting EI benefits, then may be you need to pay income tax which again depends if it is already deducted on your pay stubs. In the end it all depends how much was the total income for the year. Now, generally speaking if a person was solely depends on the EI benefits for the whole calendar year then he/she doesn't need to pay any tax. But you need to file the income tax return and also the T4E slip. I hope it helps..

    Hello mam,
    I was working full time for a company for 8 months alongwith doing part time job on weekend for just one day. We knew that we will be getting layoff because our company was going to stop production due to which i did my last shift on part time job 4 days prior we got layoff from full time job. And after that i applied for ei and did not worked anywhere. Infact after getting layoff i did not even worked parttime job. So mam, in my case will i be eligible for ei.

      @raabta8106  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Harman, you need 420-700 hours of work (insurance one) which depends upon the unemployment rate in your region to qualify for EI. Calculate your hours from your paystub which you must be getting from the company. You can calculate both full and part time if EI is deducted from both. I hope it helps ..

      Hi Nikita, I think you are still an employee for the company as you are on hold. But in your case you are on hold almost for a month now , which is not fair with you. You need to talk to your supervisor to whom you report

    • @raabta8106
      @raabta8106  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nikita you need to ask your company to either provide work to you or to lay you off so that you can apply EI. In case they don’t do that then leave the company by writing a formal letter and mention that you didn’t get any work for a month and it’s hard to survive. Keep a copy of that letter with you(you can also send email as well). After that apply for EI on this ground , and you will be given EI provided you also have enough hours worked in last 52 weeks. You have a very genuine reason to apply for EI . I hope it helps..

      2-I don’t think so it’s going to impact PR application because PR application is made on the basis of work experience and not on the current job, as long as you have the supporting documents to prove your work experience you are good to go.
      3-No, it’s not true. Pool is in the case of express entry program , I think someone mixed it up. Once you apply for PR and everything is correct then generally it comes within 3 months.
