Having been a Mondays fan since the late 80's i was sad to hear of Paul's passing. He & the band brought a lot of light into what was a turbulent decade, especially in the north! thanks for the music & memories, sleep well Greatman.

Big regrets not going to see The Mondays in my City back 2015 or 16 when they where on Tour. I was too young to see them back in 90 , sad to not see Paul playing live. Influenced me on the Bass growing up!

Loving these interviews Angela thanks for sharing them. I must mention my Paul Ryder tale…I was stuck in traffic on my way home from work around 2006 on Barton Rd near the Bridgewater pub and noticed a man with his hood up waiting to cross over the road. I signaled for him to cross and when he got level with the front of my car he turned and thanked me I was absolutely blown away to realise it was the man himself Paul Ryder!! RIP Horse x
We used to live really close to the Bridgewater pub at a house on The Green by the canal - he was probably going to the newsagents!

Loving the series, thank you for taking the time to interview Paul and give his side of everything. So nice to hear an untold before views and perspective. So sad Paul passed so soon after, a great bass player his funky, Manc bass grooves totally were the primary and most integral arts of the Mondays tunes,, without Paul’s quality bass riffs I don’t think they would have done as well as they did.
Paul was a top bloke as I was lucky enough to sound tech for them a few times when they came in to rehearse in the rehearsal studios I used to work in Manchester. Definitely looking forward to the next episodes.

@@glisteningstories No worries! I had an uncle just like Paul (couldn't play bass tho') and of Paul's generation too. When I was getting proper into my music and bought the Rave On EP (still have it and must have been 14 or 15 when it came out....Perfect age!) my uncle introduced me to the Bummed LP and the NME. He also once gave me the very first and last LP's by Funkadelic with the instruction to "fill in the gap" if I liked them. Of course the mighty horse loved Funkadelic as every bass player worth his or her salt should. I love to know what that giveaway LP was. If anyone out there reading this could let me know I'd appreciate it. Seems daft but I just need to know. Shame on you Angela for not asking, but seeing as this podcast is so awesome I will let it go. Thanks for doing this. It must have been difficult in it's making but as a founding member of one of my generation's most important groups, his story needed telling cos I'm not the music obsessed fanboy out there. I could go on and on but I'll just end with a big thank you.❤
