    This is so much fun to replicate in FS2020 because the PFD/ND are shown nonstop. No one else on youtube seems to edit in this (smart) way. Thank you very much! Do you also happen to fly Salzburg RNAV approaches from the south?
    PS: also love the additional airport, SID, STAR and approach charts.

      Thank you so much for watching and your helpful feedback! I fly to Salzburg on a regular basis. But unfortunately all my landings during the last 2 years were out of the ILS. The wind for that was calm or just a light tailwind. The future will hopefully provide winds which require a landing from the south..

    Hello! Another video from my favourite island. Great! Excellent footage! You don't often see take-offs from runway 06L here on the island at all. This is really amazing. I hope you enjoyed the flight. The weather on the island is not quite summer-like at the moment. But soon the weather on the island will be better too. I hope to see more videos from and to Palma de Mallorca in the future.

      Thanks for watching and the detailed feedback! I also like Mallorca very much. It is a great Island! As a pilot, I flew from and to PMI very often. This was my first takeoff from runway 06L. Reason was that 06R was closed due to work in progress.

    I have often wondered how the crew navigate on the ground so as to find the correct runways and taxiways especially on a big airport where there are many.
    Very professional people I admire them immensely.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In addition to our charts in the Ipad, there are signs on the edge of the taxiways. Also, especially on the apron and at intersections, there are usually painted markings on the asphalt or concrete. Even with all this, navigation on the ground can be challenging and requires the full attention of the crew.

    • @davidsilvera7436
      @davidsilvera7436 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are lots of videos that explain the runway markings that help ground crew and pilots navigate. Had to watch a few of them to get a better understanding. With that knowledge in mind, I try to read Captains charts to see where he needs to taxi and I'm getting better at it. lol 😁

    Can I ask why you both hold the flight control stick, is that just in case other pilot who is 'in control' needs assistance you're ready. Also when autopilot is on you seem to hold them too. Is that required till a certain altitude?

I fly a lot to "special CAT C" airports, like Salzburg, Samos and Funchal. So my personal schedule usually contains lots of flights to these destinations.

    I have a question - as I understand it, the speed is limited to 250kts below FL100 and I noticed in this video that the rate of climb dropped a bit at FL100 and the speed increased to 280kts. Is this transition automatically programmed into the autopilot/autothrottle mode? Or did PF action it manually by reducing the r/c? I noticed he touched something on A/P-A/T panel at FL100 - was that it?

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      The preprogrammed target speed below FL100 is 250 kt. This is even true if there is no speed limitation. During the climb, above FL100, the target speed changes to the climb speed which results from the cost index. The rate of climb is not pre programmed or so. It is just the result of flying the target speed with climb thrust and is variable.

    What's the purpose of turning the packs off during the takeoff? Is the aircraft performance limited?

    • @martincerveny4747
      @martincerveny4747 ปีที่แล้ว

      When performing a FLEX (reduced thrust) takeoff, turning off the packs lowers the EGT of the engine, therefore increasing the engine life, if performing a TOGA thrust it improves the performance... 🙂

    • @ells-aviation
      @ells-aviation ปีที่แล้ว

      Also air con is switched off to conserve power during takeoff

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Here we did it to save fuel, reduce emissions and extend engine life. Sometimes it is required due to performance reasons. This may happen if the runway is short or if there are obstacles in the departure.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct. 1000 feet was set in the MCDU, but if you watch the video closely and keep an eye on the instruments you will see that the pilot flying was flying manually and in accordance to the AOIs he delayed the setting of the climb thrust and the acceleration to about 1500 feet.

But my personal understanding is that besides English, you have to have some level of knowledge of the German language if you want to work for Eurowings Germany.
    Egal, meine Frage :
    Weißt Du (wenn ich Dich mal so böse duzen darf), ob auch eine Landung auf der 06R durchaus möglich ist? Weil eine Touchdown-Zone ist ja vorhanden, allerdings habe ich das wirklich noch nie gesehen. - Außerdem sind die Exits nicht so schön zum vecaten, sollte man auf der 06R landen.

      Vielen lieben Dank fürs Anschauen und Dein gutes Feedback! Ein Start von der Startbahn 06L ist extrem selten. Wir sind dort gestartet, weil Runway 06R wegen Bauarbeiten geschlossen war. Gelandet bin ich auf der 06R noch nicht. Sie wird eigentlich nur für Starts benutzt. Möglich wäre es jedoch. Es gibt einen VOR Approach, der 3,4 Grad steil ist und eine Entscheidungshöhe von 1210 Fuß hat. Das PAPI an der Bahn ist auch auf 3,4 Grad eingestellt. Einen schönen Tag noch!

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and the good feedback! Before the video recording starts, we got a new, updated loadsheet with a load of about 1000 Kilogramms more. At that time, our briefing and the performance calculation for the takeoff with the lower weight was already done. In the video, you see that we check and confirm the performance for the higher weight. The Vspeeds were 1 knot higher and we had to check the takeoff distance which only changed very little but was no factor on the long runway.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. At PMI airport, we stay at the inner taxiway until we reach the specified taxiway (sometimes called gate) which leads us to the outer taxiway. In general, this was a very nice and easy taxi instruction. Much better than the long taxi clearance "Taxi via LG, LF, LE, D gate and the north link to holding point H4 and hold short runway 06L". At some airports, ATC always communicates the clearances like the long one. This makes it more complicated than needed because we have to find and confirm all the taxiway names on the chart. In the USA, it is even easier. If there is no traffic and ATC has no preference about your taxi routing, even on large airports I got clearances like "Taxi to your parking position" or for departure: "Hold short runway xx".

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Danke fürs gute Feedback! Was das Departure Briefing betrifft, macht man es im Idealfall dann, wenn man weiß, welche Runway bzw. Intersection zu erwarten ist und welche Departure Route. Da man dabei auch über die Performance, wie die Einhaltung von Höhenvorgaben und bezüglich eines Startabbruchs oder der Single Engine Situation spricht, sollte man auch schon die Loafsheetdaten kennen.
      Je nach Situation kommt es auch vor, dass man bereits vor dem eigentlichen Briefing Dinge, wie zum Beispiel das Rollen oder eine mögliche Rückkehr sehr ausführlich bespricht und diskutiert. Im Briefing wird das Thema dann nur noch sehr kurz angerissen und auf die vorherige Besprechung verwiesen. Wir geben zunächst das voraussichtliche Zero Fuel Weight und den bestellten Sprit ein. Sobald wir die Ladedaten haben, rechnen wir das Loadsheet uns danach die Performance aus. Die Daten vom Loadsheet geben wir gemeinsam ein
      Die Performance rechnen wir unabhängig voneinander, analysieren die Ergebnisse, einigen uns dann auf eine Takeoffkonfiguration (Klappen, Klimaanlage an oder aus, Flex Temperatur) und bei einer V1-Range auf einen Wert.
      Die normalen Checklisten lesen wir, sobald alle Items gemacht sind, die darin abgefragt werden. Manche Checklisten haben zusätzlich Trigger Events, vor oder nach denen wir sie lesen sollen. Zum Beispiel lesen wir die After Start Checkliste erst, wenn wir ein Klarzeichen der Bodencrew haben. Falls wir was vergessen haben, erinnert uns die Checkliste daran.
