Covers all of the most common new player mistakes, basics of build orders, the Dark Age economy, what military units to build, military strategy, building positioning, and defensive strategy. This should hopefully be helpful as an introduction to Age of Empires online play for any new or beginner players. Hey! I just had a thought. When you’re casting for new players, it’s hard to know what to do in the moment and sometimes it’s not always clear to know what to do in game. Have you thought of having more coaching with direct talking to the player? It would be difficult, but basically, you would talk to them and the audience (toggle) and then if they are confused, they will say. Since you’re advanced, things that seem obvious to you might not be to newbies. Just a thought.
Also, random, but do you have any places to get good flush and drush build orders?
He actually did something similar in his (very old) Teaching Rookie series, which I think was great and would like to see him do again.

I dont know why i havent seen your videos on my feed ive been subbed for so long.
I always find myself, for instance against hard AI, way behind on unit production because i focus so hard on a good eco.
My question is, when should i start unit production? Lets say im blue and im pocket, do i just boom to castle/imp then start or am i waiting to long.
P.S. - I havent played online yet, haha its intimidating.

Am I bad for researching loom first thing in game while 3 vill's build house? I mean until they're back to harvest sheep I could have 1 dude chopping straggler tree or solo-sheeping, but it just seems perfect to research loom.

Usually the Saturday stream has at least one community game. There's variance, of course, but most of the time AFAIK.

Res, when I recently played my 1st multiplayer game(4v4), there was so much lag that EVERY command took at least 3 seconds to register, ensuring that I always get idle time on either my villagers or my TC or my scout. If I was to be focussing on them all the time, then I cant scout at all, so I will be playing in the dark just so that I can have a sliver of a chance at micro-ing my economy with so much lag.
What do you suggest I do? If my internet connection is that slow to respond to even one mouse click, should I even play online matches?
I am kind of desperate for any advice on the matter.

I really like the way you split your videos now into expert games and new player games. It's much easier to learn from mistakes than from things people do well, especially for new players. So when new players only see expert games they don't learn nearly as much as they could because the gap is so huge that it's simply overwhelming on many different levels. New player games on the other hand are more familiar looking for other new players with reasonable intermediary goals to set for themselves during a match and also much easier to spot and understand mistakes and hopefully not make them in their own matches.
Just a small criticism though, you used the term "conditioning them(the players in this match)" quite often in this video. When I and I'm sure many others hear this term I think about lab animals in cages with scientists around them conditioning them to various conditions and observing the results. It's just not a term I'd use for this situation. Saying "teaching them" rather than "conditioning them" would have sounded much better to me at least.
Agree on both points. The semantics of conditioning vs learning is somewhat trivial, but I feel strongly that beginners don't necessarily learn much watching pro players. The myriad small but critical techniques that pros use aren't going to be utilized efficiently (if at all) in the hands of a beginner.
If you have glaringly obvious and serious troubles, like not making enough vils, not building enough buildings/town centers, have tons idle TCs and even idle villagers, floating tons of res while lacking in one resource, or making other huge blunders and mistakes, then the little tricks and macro/micro-finesses that pros pull off aren't going to make a difference, assuming the new player can properly imitate a technique they saw a pro do in the first place.

I tried that yesterday. There was so much goddamn lag that if I even focussed on my scouting for even a small amount of time (10 seconds max), it would ensure that TC was ALWAYS FUCKING IDLE.
