There's a lot to love here. I'm a fan of how Into the Breach missions feel like tight little puzzles, trying to move all your pieces in the perfect sequence to achieve victory. This seems to have a similar angle, where you basically treat a complex fight scene as a puzzle to solve. I like the Sifu flavour, I like the roguelike angle. Just fun all round
@@yungoldman2823look into constructive criticism. But the idea of ghost Runner is to complete a perfect run not unlike what I saw from this trailer ... Given I have not seen anything else about this game...
Olija was amazing, immediately recognised this being from the same developers! This looks awesome! I hope the storytelling here is as interesting as that game was.
What an amazing idea! I've been wanting to have that "perfect run" experience without the 100+ hours of practicing the game. What a great way to die a dozen times and still feel like a champion in universe. Think this is going to be a day one purchase for the concept alone
Gotta give it to Devolver Digital for hunting down and publishing such great indie games like always. THANK YOU DEVOLVER DIGITAL for every game published.
Props to them for making a playable version of the fight club scene from that Sherlock Holmes film. I hope this game lets you unlock a move that lets you _d i s c o m b o b u l a t e._
hmm, but apart from the narrative fleur, how is it different from the staple retry-after-a-"you died"-screen approach?

Making some assumptions about mechanics: I think there's a big difference between "try something over and over until you succeed" (i.e. the normal death-retry loop) and "practice something over and over, but then you only get one shot to execute it for real", which is what I think this game is doing. If it's a roguelike, that would make sense: You get to practice up front, but you still have to call your shot, and if you mess up the execution your run is completely over.
sounds plausible, and in that case a hard pass for me. i see 0 reason to repeat it once i get it right, risking losing progress in the [process. but then again, any rogueli*e is an immediate pass for me.

so you could play a fight in your mind as many times as need be and you only get one shot in the real world so it basically actually encouraging “getting gud” as they say
I'm so glad to see that enemies die quickly and you do too, but death is avoidable with good gameplay. Something in me perishes every time I have to whack a huge HP total to death, slowly
I get the distinct impression that you're not playing through the entire battle in 'foresight' mode. In the example from 0:13-0:51, it seems like you're only mentally rehearsing the initial clash, but still have to finish off the last couple guys (presumably the leaders of a given gang or whatever) wholly in real-time. At least, that's my guess.
It looks like someone from Devolver saw those fight scenes from the Sherlock Holmes films and thought they could do it better. I think they may be right.
2 things.
1) its the trial and error gameplay style of Sifu in 2D.
2) yes please!
Or Katana Zero
One Finger Death Punch
I recognized the Olija pixel art style immediatly!! That was a good game! I'm glad to see the studio is making more games!
Was it? It looked great but I feel like I saw one too many mixed review to give it a try. I might have to go back and give it a shot!
Y'all stay supporting cool ass games. Best Publisher hands down!
yeah i agree
katana zero fighter version?
except I think you have to actually manually replicate the "foreseen" perfect fight one more time with no resets to win
this is the dlc
@@andresolguinsalinas1725What do you mean? The dlc is a hoax. It never happened. It will never happen. Like silk song.

Dude, the amount of work put in the pixel art is insane! Easy wishlist here.

Thats such a clever narrative hook for a game mechanic
Devolver digital goat 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Seems like a blend of Sifu and Katana Zero, nice
Gotta give it to Devolver Digital for hunting down and publishing such great indie games like always. THANK YOU DEVOLVER DIGITAL for every game published.
Plot twist: the entire game is a huge foresight
I feel like that was hinted at, at the end there!
Katana Zero + Discombobulate
This mustn't register on an emotional level...
Katana zero was already discombobulate sorta except here it's actual foresight rather than time drugs

Sifu 2D

Exactly this
Thank god sifu wasnt a one hit game.....

That is the first thing I thought!!
I can’t believe that game didn’t get more love…
Aww man this looks so good! Please don’t tell me it’s going to take years to come out.
Devolver is CONSTANTLY publishing the coolest games
A martial arts based rougelike? Hell yeah, sign me up. Sadly, this may go under the radar for many streamers.
Who gives a damn about streamers man??
It's insane this is the first martial art rogue like I seen

Oh! it's Fore Strike. I thought you were gonna ride a kid's toy where there's a lot of trees.
Innovative gameplay. Don't see that too often.
Devolver must host a permanent Barbcue with free beers to find such great indie developers

Neat concept. And harkens back to Kareteka and Kung Fu and such, old school but with way deeper mechanics.

I would need a demo to understand how this differs from any other trial and error/muscle memory combat system. This does sound cool tho!
