Dirt duplication, one of my favourite methods of renewability. Gold is renewable through killing Zombified Piglins, and gold can be used to barter with Piglins for gravel. 2 gravel and 2 dirt can be used to craft 4 coarse dirt which, when tilled with a hoe, can be turned into 4 dirt.
@@sammin101 You don't have to find moss. If you get emeralds you can trade a wandering trader for it. Of course you need emeralds, but converting zombie villagers using a witch for weakness is pretty simple if you have a mob spawner. Just smelt gold armor drops until you have enough (or use other means for gold that are faster). Emeralds will also let you trade for podzol (more dirt). You need a villager hall to get all the diamond gear and lots of other blocks in a sky island map anyways - so villager conversion is usually the next step after the mob farm anyways.
There are two ways I know to duplicate dirt: either barter for gravel and till the course dirt; or convert stone into moss, grow azalea trees on said moss, and till the rooted dirt.
Hi, Gem! In case nobody mentioned yet, you can get bamboo by fishing in a jungle! You just need to make sure it's a 5 by 5 square of water to have a chance of getting it. I'd recommend fishing there next time, scaffolding could come in very handy for your future builds!
Do you have moss? Because you can plant azaleas and spruce on moss. Azaleas will turn 1x block into rooted dirt, and spruce will do the usual podzol spread, replacing the moss. And since you have cobble, you can do cobble -> stone -> moss -> dirt Although I know what you are planning with that sneaky obsidian over there XD Just wanted to share an alternative
I was wanting to try Skyblock for the first time ever, but wasn't sure what map to use. Your first video serendipitously popped up the day after I started polling all my discord friends to see if they had a map they'd played (they didn't). So now I guess I'm playing along with you! This episode you've definitely inspired me to make my island prettier now that I'm out of the panicking about survival phase. Thanks for your videos! I'm thoroughly enjoying cozy autumn skyblock season during my thanksgiving time off here in the states.
I'm loving this series so much. Gotta love some chill skyblock. It's inspired me to pick up skyblock again. It's honestly one of my favorite things to do in Minecraft.
Your videos are my favourite to watch while holding a warm chai wrapped in a blanket (me not the chai) and eating a cookie. Sky block series and your survival minecraft worlds make me so happy to have no chaos and just a happy little half hour in peace. Gem is Great.
Truly loving the simultaneous Gem relaxing skyblock with Ilmango's insane skyblock series. It's great to get a bit of reality once in a while, and this series is really doing that for me
There's no better way to start my day off then some chill Skyblock. I don't know why it's so cozy compared to normal Minecraft but for whatever reason it just is
Yo Gem, love the series! About your pond: if you want to fish up some treasure, you gotta fish in "open water". Basically, in a 5 by 5 by 4 volume around your bobber, there may only be water or air. Hope to see more soon!
I was going to add this too. Gem won't get treasure drops if she doesn't expand and deepen the fishing pool. I think that fishing is one of the underated grinds in Skyblock, because the magic books can be SO valuable early game.
Hi Gem! Here's something cool to consider when it comes to the cobblestone generator: Waterlogged blocks! you're likely already aware of this, but several blocks which can be waterlogged do not spread water, but are still able to be used as the water block in cobble generators. This can be useful to avoid the possibility of accidentally turning your lava into obsidian, and can spruce up the aesthetic look of the generator as well. My personal favorite block to do this with is leaf blocks, since they can be waterlogged as of 1.19.
Nice to see more of this series, I hadn’t thought about doing any fishing! My world is coming along ok too, got a mob farm, taken a trip to the nether, and I’ve started making my own dirt! Tho my world is a lot messier than yours ✨
After my first job i started struggling to see all of gem's videos, but every time i get to see them it's a breath of fresh air. The island is looking great, keep it up and thanks for your content here on youtube!
You could actually use the mob farm (not just for villagers - which I'm sure you're gonna do eventually) to get chickens! A small chicken farm would very quickly upgrade your food saturation, which is very important in hardcore.
I actually did that half-slab thing in my skyblock world too. I also use that technique to build up in end raids to save blocks. Also, it's a good thing you made the mob farm floor out of full blocks. This was a fatal mistake averted, a fatal mistake I once did. Making the floor into half slabs allows diffused light to enter the farm via the floor edges, and lights up the entire farm internally. The internal edges of the farm get lit up by light level 10 or close to it.
I'm loving this series!! Your cheerful attitude as always brightens our days. Your gorgeous aesthetics too. I also love the occasional annotating of self like 'considering life choices.' Brilliant!!
Get moss, bonemeal moss on stone to make more moss, plant 2x2 spruce on moss plot to make podzol, which digs up as dirt. Getting silk touch and creating a stone generator is key, of course. Also, getting gravel allows you to duplicate dirt by making coarse dirt with it, then tilling it and digging it up for normal dirt. Probably the easiest once you get to the nether. The moss method is replenishable, with the correct setup, this method depends on gathering gravel, but is simpler (no enchantments needed, just nether access).
I love watching you play sky block because you can see and hear that you enjoy it which makes the video more relaxing Also the duplicate dirt is gravel which makes course dirt
since you are in a 1.19 skyblock you try to get lucky with a travelling merchant and get moss! you can use moss as a way to get dirt by turning stone into moss and then moss into dirt using mega spruce trees which will turn the moss it is on into podzol. you can just shovel that to make unlimited dirt :D
I checked your channel every day since ep 1 to see when ep 2 was coming out! Please continue the holiday series. It's so cozy watching someone playing skyblock and having a chill time.
I don't know if you already use it but in the option you can toggle sneak so you just push it once to lock it until next press of the buttons, it will saves the life or your pinky as in skyblock, sneaking to expand is just everytime
It'd be cool if you build a giant donut around your starting island and encase it in glass or something. Like a floating display with a viewing platform.
I was waiting for the inevitable fall from the mob spawner but was very glad to see it didn't happen. The island is looking nice and functional, can't wait to see how you expand it further. Now I need to go work on my island until your next Skyblock video comes out… or until I fall and end my world. Probably the latter since I never live long in Hardcore.
Play-Along Goals: 1. Mob Spawner 3x3 shaft space, 22 high. Spokes 8 deep, with water at end of each spoke. 64 open trapdoors over water. Fill in corners between spokes to be mob spawning spaces 2 high (no light). Be sure mobs cannot see you at any point. Barrels at bottom can be for drops. 2. Build bed, sleep. 3. Expand island to desired size. Edge with wood for pretty. Don't forget fences for safety. Organize farms. Maybe spawn some bees. 4. Make fishing rod and fishable pond. 5. Make nether portal. Set up Piglin farm, and get to bartering. 6. Once you get gravel from Piglin, combine 2 gravel with 2 dirt to get 4 coarse dirt. Hoe coarse dirt to turn it into regular dirt. 7. Expand grass and farm areas.
One tip for skyblock and general building/bridging, under accessibility settings you can change sneak from "hold" to "toggle" so you only have to tap shift to enter sneak so you won't fall off the edge. (I have fallen from bridges too many times because shift failed for no apparent reason, also it just saves your pinky) Its not always worth it but whenever i plan to be bridging for an extended period or over a particularly dangerous hazard like lava or the void without wings i take the time to switch my sneak controls.
Bone meal on moss block near stone to turn stone into moss. Grow a 2x2 spruce tree on the moss to turn the moss into podzol. Dig out the podzol with any non-silk touch enchanted tool to get dirt.
I also know how to duplicate dirt, use two dirt and two gravel to get 4 course dirt, then hoe the course dirt which will turn it into regular dirt, thus giving you 4 dirt, you can get more gravel by trading with the piglins and you can gold nuggets from killing zombie pigmen, and gold ingots from killing zombies.
Excellent, as usual!!! It'd be funny to see you jump into Imp & Skizz's SB playthrough. Or a parallel runoff competing SB's in their SB evolution version. Regardless, great ep and series. GEM IS GREAT!🎉
You could double your sweet berries in the basement by lowering the floor one more block which would give you room to make floating planters with a dirt block and trap doors without blocking the lower bushes from growing. Not sure if it would work, but it would look cute.
The key to renewable is moss blocks. Use the cobblestone generator make cobblestone (or stone). If you don't have a silk tough pickaxe, then a furnace to convert cobble to stone. Bone meal moss next to stone. Plant spruce on moss. When the tree grows up, the moss will convert to podzol. OR plant the azalea on moss and when that tree grow it turns the moss to rooted dirt. Rooted dirt can be converted to path blocks with a shovel and then shoveled, it will be just dirt.
Brave Gem tackling the Nether already! I’m guessing she’s going to do what Impulse and Skiz did at the beginning of their world (go check out their series, it’s really cool)
8:01 the entire time you were building the mob farm I was worrying about the explosion at the farm during your last skyblock so I was quite relieved when you fixed it!
You can duplicate dirt if you have gravel by crafting coarse dirt (with 2 dirt blocks and 2 gravel blocks) and tilling it to get back 4 dirt blocks! Gravel can be obtained through piglin barters (and sometimes skyblock will include datapacks that add gravel to some mob loot tables), but bartering is done by harvesting gold from piglins, making gold, gravel, coarse dirt and dirt renewable blocks!

Make stone generator with lava. Convert stone to moss and then grow giant spruce on 4x4 moss blocks. Collect podzol without silk touch and you get dirt. Might take a while but if really lucky you get bought from the one trader. Idk can you find moss and dripstone from the map too.

There’s another way to make more dirt, if you can find an island with moss.
Still worth making a gold farm tho!
@@sammin101 You don't have to find moss. If you get emeralds you can trade a wandering trader for it.

Skyblock definition: getting the simplest of resources in the hardest ways possible.
Pretty sure Gem will just be mining gravel in the nether
There are two ways I know to duplicate dirt: either barter for gravel and till the course dirt; or convert stone into moss, grow azalea trees on said moss, and till the rooted dirt.

I love you gem!!!! Your so calm and nice and funny!!!!! Keep doing videos!!!!!!
Also I know what the duplicating dirt thing is
this is probably the most entertaining minecraft series

Gravel can be obtained through piglin barters (and sometimes skyblock will include datapacks that add gravel to some mob loot tables), but bartering is done by harvesting gold from piglins, making gold, gravel, coarse dirt and dirt renewable blocks!

Infinite dirt: Get a moss block and dripstone from the wandering trader. Make stone generator with lava. Convert stone to moss and then grow giant spruce on 4x4 moss blocks. Collect podzol without silk touch and you get dirt. Might take a while but if really lucky you get bought from the one trader. Idk can you find moss and dripstone from the map too.
