I'm fine lol
I don't hate this at all,it could've been way better

How so?
Honestly framing the story in this context actually makes me appreciate it a lot more, I just wish it was easier to see on first viewing
Yeah that will forever be what ruined it for audiences I fear. Without that I think the rest is enjoyable for people once they understand it.
@@CartoonUniverse I definitely would like to see maybe some sort of fan edit that puts the narrative in a more chronological framework that makes it easier to read and understand
Yeah a different dub might help as well.
That’s why I pretty much always watch these kinds of channels first before viewing any new media 😅
@@CartoonUniverse
I guess you actually DO have to have a high I.Q. to enjoy Rick and Morty: THE ANIME.😂
I liked the show, but the characters had Japanese characteristics that really didn’t gel with how the original characters act, it was interesting
Yeah that's when the steeping mountain curved inward
There were two things I liked about the anime one being the background art and the second being the music for the emotional parts and credits.
I just thought Elle was a clever name because it's palindrome and represents their duality in the past/future.
Since her race perceives and experiences the future as well, their name would read the same both ways
So are Anna and Ava
Wow its almost like theres a word that you used to explain this very original idea!
well that's interesting considering the writers said Frank was Morties "path adjuster" the one whose supposed to make sure he stays on the right path, be it past, present or future, so hes not L, hes the change L was trying to make
Traveling to alternate timelines is normal for Rick and Morty. This is just the anime universe, not like it’s our Rick and Morty or affect the main show. I liked it once I stopped thinking of it as anything but a dimension Rick and Morty are watching on their multi dimensional television and probably laughing their asses off
This anime diverging from the original is to be expected. R&M has its own narrative as a show (Nothing matters. Laugh at the absurd meaninglessness of the universe). And that irreverent narrative just doesn't mesh with Japanese culture that assigns meaning to everything.
Infinite universes, infinite possibilities
tbf: Rick always says that nothing matters, but his family does matter to him (to the extent that he thinks its a toxic trait for him). Actions speak louder than words.
The rick and morty anime was animated better then Uzumaki...let that sink in.
I mean, Uzumaki looks more detailed while animation tends to REMOVE details to have more fluid animation, so that would make sense no matter how Uzumaki is.
@Bezaliel13 episode 1 of uzumaki was actually well animated, but after that, it's like they took stills from the book and just slid it across the screen like a motion comic
I personally like the anime, but I agree that its storytelling is very hard to follow with not enough differences between each version of the character to actively tell what timeline they’re in. I also wished they used a different Rick than C-137 because of how different he is from canon C-137. Now, I know it’s not going to be for everyone. My brain is hardwired for crazy Sci-fi shenanigans, especially those involving time travel. That’s probably how I was able to sort through the chaos during the first few episodes. However, the lines became blurred as time went on making it harder to tell the timelines except Space Morty’s. It’s alright, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re willing to sort out all the timelines.
Well, nothing prevent for in infinite universe with infinite Ricks for two Ricks to call thenselves Rick C-137.
@@PokemonRules141 i agree with you,it's too bad that the bad ratings might end up causing this show to get canceled
@@SupportGamin2025In Max it was for more than 7 weeks in a row in its top 10 worldwide, it was very popular in many Latin American countries and some Asian countries and it was an animation.
@@TomyDayos but still not enough "Rickiness" in him to be even what's supposed to be a parallel Multiverse of C-137
@@TomyDayos Tooshay. Who knows, maybe this is in a seperate Central Finite Curve?
I liked it.
People complaining about it being hard to follow makes that "you need to have a high I.Q." meme hilarious.
There was 2 Morty's and no way of knowing which was which. I found this bad because I couldn't gauge how deep of a relationship our morty had with elle. Why couldn't they just give the other morty a red shirt or something?
@@174Anime
Because the space outfit had better protection. Of course, they also had those in different colors, so I doubt that would have worked. Did you want them to give him a mullet too?
@@Bezaliel13 Thats something morty could just put on with a different color. There's no way to tell first watch.
I don't think I am asking a unreasonable request to want too know which morty is which.
@@174Anime
I disagree, but I am not sure that first sentence fit with your first suggestion.
Anyway, considering we saw Elle and Space Morty meet in the finale, it might have. I mean, you wanted to avoid the reveal from a plot told in a nonlinear progression. I thought it was a flash forward of Main Morty going throughout space and the climax had Morty declare he is NOT Space Morty, so it might have been a little "unreasonable." Makes me think of a Family Guy joke where they reveal the bad guy at the start of a mystery show.
"Was it that guy? Yes, yes it was."
Man. I've finished watching it yesterday. I'm getting almost the same feeling aftet i've watched bunny girl.
Im destroyed.
U know as a longtime fan of RAM I didn’t mind this
Excellent analysis and recap. Like you, I also enjoyed this, but that's only because the topic of time itself is something I'm deeply obsessed with. I feel like R&M:TA is being received in a similar manner to TENET. They both deal with similar themes, but due to the complexity of the subject matter and the way it in which it was presented, they were not well-received by audiences who are more used to be spoon fed and that's fine, I can totally appreciate that. Hopefully someday it will receive the recognition it deserves, although you've done a pretty good job of expressing that already.
Thanks for the vid.A lot more from the first episodes are clear now.
This anime was the worst nightmare to start with. After episode 1-2 i didnt want to watch it and thought : Wtf are they doing .The first 4 - 5 episodes were so boring and dissapointing. But after that story unfolds slowly and the concept got a lot more clear. the end was interesting and has a very interesting meaning.
Heavy start but a good ending. But damn, it was a fight to watch and because of that, i couldnt get too involved in the end. But i am glat, i finally watched all episodes now.
I fall in love with the music too.
greetings.
As someone who feels like Rick and Morty took a turn for the worse after season 2, I absolutely adored this series
It was more in line with the direction I hoped the series would take after the way season 2 ended
I honestly expected from the get-go that the anime would be very different from the actual show. There have been anime-like shorts of Rick and Morty on the Adult Swim TH-cam which have the same style as this anime and also the same type of writing. So I based my expectations on those shorts.
Granted I also expected that this Rick and Morty would be set in a different dimension than the original show, so I was really confused when they mentioned it was C-137. I think a lot of questions and inconsistencies could have been prevented if they made up their own dimension for this story.
In the end I had a good time with it and I'm happy it's story got told. I even got emotional at some of the scenes with Morty and Elle, which I did not expect at all.
But I understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea.
Simply the fact that it contains both time travel and alternate realities makes the story incredibly hard to follow.
Some times theirs cuts too the other morty and it was really hard to know which morty was which.
Mr. Cut, thank you for the explanation. In the middle of the season, Frank does appear but not as a human. This version of Frank has a visor over his eyes and appears as one of the aliens fighting the Galactic Federation who tells Morty C-137 of how much Space Morty inspired him. That's soon before Morty C-137 cries that he can't live up to Space Morty's reputation. | I have a question for you: in the final episode, did Morty's life with Elle and their daughter "really" happen? First Rick tells Summer that the headset sent Morty to an actual other dimension. I interpreted it as meaning that "really did happen." But after Rick pulls Morty out of that, he says Morty only dreamt all that. To me, that contradicts what Rick told Summer. So it didn't "really happen"?
Rick lied to Morty telling him it was a dream so he wouldn't get obsessed with it and so he could continue with his normal life.
Difference being that Rick respects Summer enough not to lie to her whereas he lies to Morty all the damn time in order to protect Morty’s and frankly sometimes Rick’s own overly fragile psyche, like with the whole Morty’s mind blowers episode.
he lied to morty
I actually like the Rick and Morty The Anime because of how it'd be different from the more cynical and wackiest version of Rick and Morty. From what I could tell from the anime, it's philosophical take on the existentialism the original takes on but using the nihilism to find meaning compared to the lack of meaning. I actually loved the love story between Elle and Morty. I didn't even consider Frank to be another version of Elle, which would explain why he was in the game. I also wanted to say that the anime was more philosophical rather than religious but most anime that is philosophical does tend to use religious symbolism and iconography which wasn't something I was thinking until I saw your video. I do agree to an extent but I feel like they might be going of more eastern philosophy and theology with how some of the characters act more enlightened that gives us perspective that we wouldn't see in the original show. I can say that the anime was something I truly enjoyed, and I understand that people hate it.
@@bearberserker agreed
The main story with Elle was grate. The side story about Frank I thought was the game (VR) version of Morty's ideal life witch Elle super imposed her self on to get want Elle wanted. I didn't consider that frank was Elle (vary possible). If that was the case I wish that was stated more clear at the end cuz I took it more as a random tragic story of Morty's ideal world be originally a world ware a guy throwing him self at Morty and idealizing Morty but because he is a guy Morty could avoid heart ace and focus on the adventure of life not the heart ace.. i can appreciate many storys and types but franks was far to tacked on as it sits almost a 5th wheel being pushed by the figurative space ship with redundant landing gear (it could have been it's own story or just more flushed out in a longer run time but not necessary over all)
After I watched the 10 episodes in the night I was really a fan after it(even if it was very confusing at the beginning and you had to get used to the drawing style), the end was a bit sad and dont ask me if I cried, but all in all it was really good and hopefully we get a good second season
i kind of found it clearer as it progressed
Cant wait for more content from this channel!
If you like the more Deep breakdowns, we have quite a few you should check out for shows like Tomb Raider and Twilight of the Gods
There is also a reference to the Citadel Reporters Rick (Rick D716 has a normal face and Rick D716-B has a scar on his eye) in the anime the Mortys who appear in episodes 1 and 10 who are the millionaire Morty who is based on Citizen Kane and married Morty because they both have the same life but only the Mortys from episode 10 had a better life.
Please somebody i need the sad music that plays when ell ans rick stare out into space and talk back and forth
The original series was controversial I’ll never watch the show but the art style looks nice
I did enjoy the series. I just wish that they'd done a better explanation of Frank's place in all of this. I feel that a little more time dedicated to fleshing out his character might have done wonders in sorting out some of the questions I have.
I like that you found something that you like about it
Honestly I never like the Anime solely because it was Rick and Morty. I don’t hate it, I watch the first few episodes and thought they where fine. It’s just that Rick and Morty and Rick and Morty based media is was not my forte.
its almost its own show really , I just like the older anime vibe, i didn't realize how much i missed that.
not sure frank is a version of L, and the timeline was not a video game in that last episode it was a legit alternate reality
Rick mentioned in episode 8 that the helmet was not a video game, his consciousness actually traveled to another universe and Elle made him live the life of his other versions.
@@davidosoriomaciel2486 and in the final episode morty slamming it on the ground damaged it to where it dislocated his consciousness into that other morty causing him to live that morty's life and if he died there was no getting him back, given that morty dies just as they manage to get morty back, they cut it close
@@digunder14 If that's true, thank you for reminding me, take care of yourself and have a good life.
I'll be honest I only found out bout the R&M anime cause of pocket morty's.
Thank you for making such an amazing video, and I don’t hate this video on principle. While some people hate this anime and those who love this anime, we are all entitled to our own opinions. You put a lot of hard work into analyzing this show, and I’m grateful. I’m with the people who love this anime because it’s a fresh take on Rick and Morty, but even I was confused about who Elle and Frank were, and while I got a gist of their story, your video really did help me understand the story.
Elle's story is fascinating in that while she was a force for good, she was selfish because of her love for her version of Morty. And the life she wanted was with that version of Morty; she was living with the Primary Morty. It all makes sense going back to her adventures with Space Morty and how she wanted to spend time with him on Earth and be a normal teenager. She’s getting that life with the Central Morty, and the Central Morty also loves a shadow because this beautiful teenage girl is giving him attention, and he didn’t know anything about her other than they were destined to meet. In the main series, aside from his interest in Jessica, Morty has been shown to want to have a girlfriend, and to his credit, I believe that he does want a genuine bond with a girlfriend who loves him. Still, it’s clear that Morty doesn’t know Elle other than that she is into him, and they have this destined bond; the tragedy is that I believe Morty met Elle under any other circumstances. The two of them could’ve been a genuine good couple and made a genuine bond of love, and maybe they would’ve made it work if things were different. Of course, there wouldn't have been a story if there had been an Elle in the primary Morty universe.
Again, Elle is an interesting character because she’s ultimately a force for good, but that’s only because of her love for Morty, and she’s willing to be ruthless to get her happy ending. I love how you described the other characters as just the default skin of the universe reacting to Elle and that she was the only real character in the story. And you even stated that even the Ricks in the universe noted that they were being dragged into her story. Now imagine if she fell in love with Evil Morty and what she would do to be with him. That would’ve been a disaster. But I’ll give her some credit in that she was willing to give Morty the choice of destroying the original universe where she came from so she can be with that version of Morty or version of Morty save that universe. When she realizes that that was too much pressure on Morty, she willingly sacrifices her life when she could’ve decided to destroy her universe and be with the main version of Morty.
A subtle thing I disliked about this anime was how Beth and Summer talk down to Morty, but I think this is subtle for foreshadowing; I remember Beth and Space Beth discussing Elle with Space Beth suspicious of her, but Beth revealed that she believes the relationship won’t last and that Morty will be dumped, and in a later episode where Elle stated that she can be useful Summer said that she could be more useful than Morty. While watching the scenes, I wondered where this was coming from. I know Beth was not the Mother of the Year, but she did improve, and she honestly thinks her son would be dumped with it being implied that she doesn’t believe that Morty’s impressive enough to keep a girlfriend. And did Summer really not believe that Morty would be useful? Did they forget Morty's adventures with Rick, and how many times did he prove that he was stronger than he looked? I know that Morty is not a super soldier, but even in season one, he showed himself to be capable. Where was all this lack of respect coming from, which I felt was out of character and more fitting of Jerry? No offense to Jerry. But looking back at this, I realize that this was actually foreshadowing that this version of Morty is very different from the Space Morty and doesn’t have the same strength as that version of Morty yet. That’s either very clever foreshadowing, or I’m digging too deep into two scenes that ultimately mean nothing.
Fun fact: Rick and Morty: The Anime is supposed to be set between season five and season six of Rick and Morty, and between the episodes, the events of "Rickmurai Jack" and "Solaricks".
Fun fact: Elle isn’t the first beautiful, tall blonde girl that Morty fell in love with, and I’m not talking about Anne from episode Anatomy Park. There’s Melody from issue eight of the Rick and Morty comic book series. Basically, in that story, Rick and Morty went to an alternate version of Earth where they were celebrating Blumbus; Morty bumps into Melody, they talk for a bit, and Melody leaves, saying that Morty probably wants to spend a holiday with his girlfriend or family. Still, Morty says that he doesn’t have a girlfriend, and she assumes that he doesn’t have a family, so she brings him home to her family. Still, then Morty discovers, to his horror, that Blumbus is a holiday where people bring boys home and mate with them and then eat them. Morty runs away, but Melody and her family corner him, but Mr. Chimney and Rick kill her and her family, Mr. Chimney is that dimension version of Santa Claus, and eventually, Rick and Morty run away from him when they learned that he can see through other dimensions. I am mentioning this because, despite her limited role in one issue, I liked her as a character and wish they used more of her. Elle is another character that is a love interest to Morty that is introduced in another medium, anime for Elle, while comic for Melody.
I really hope that this anime opens the door for more spin-off contact for Rick and Morty, like other cartoons, anime, and comics. And I really hope that we haven’t seen the last of Elle and Frank. I believe both of them can make great friends and love interests for Morty. Of course, I know this is unlikely, but I hope that someday Melody can make it to reappearance, even though I know that it is unlikely because she was killed off in one issue.
This is an amazing video, as always. Thank you for such hard work. I hope to see more videos of this anime, but if not, then I understand. Thank you for this amazing video.❤
You said that Elle controls time and she doesn't control it she just sees it very differently than the others around her. She has to live it as she has seen it and cannot control or change it.
I believe I Said that the show says she can control time, not me. She also has been shown to affect time, she can change it, she clearly did she just can't interfere with free will.
No complaints about the alien villains? I was disappointed by them from the beginning to the end. Clique and uninteresting, kinda dragged down the show.
Also there was a whole episode between Jerry getting memories from another Jerry and showing up and all he did was activate the defense system and slash aliens with a sword. Highly disappointing pay off. Another thing, Morty never grew any taller or really changed in facial features when growing up in the last episode. Kinda baffling if you ask me.
Shocker, dimwitted Rick & Morty fans who think they're geniuses hate a complex take on their brain rot show that isn't full of unnecessary violence & unnecessary sexual/incest content 🙄
You actually talk like a redditor
@@pugman8083I agree
@@pugman8083 sounds like someone's offended by the truth
@@HarleyQuinnSoldier lol my thoughts exactly
Top 10 reasons why it sucks:
*Rick can bring morty back to life with clones since they store his memory
*Morty already has a love interest
*Artstyle sucks.. if it used anime style, characters would look totaly different
*It uses the horrible anime time skips that go back to time and to future
*It could be made 5 episodes shorter and skip a lot of usless crap
*Rick doesnt get manupulated that easy, heck he would instatly figure out what El is
*Rick would destroy universe just for the lolz .. he doesnt give a crap abauth other life
*Robot ...
*They could add some spin, like time police into it where officers arrest El for manipulating time so many times
*Reseting universe so many times and doing small changes would cause paradox and destroy the universe itself
I at least liked this art style over most chibi styled anime. I started like the anime more once it wasn’t hopping around as much. But it is sort of like how Elle see the world which I found cool.
Thank you very much for the video, I liked the anime because it took the story seriously, the characters are better developed and are not so toxic, the Smith family really shows that they love and respect each other more, the animation used is the same type of animation that was used in classic animes such as Doraemon, Crayon Shin Chan and Lupin III is still used in Japan, but it is no longer well known in the West.
I like the art
I liked it but it's so different from the original.
Honestly enjoyed
I do not understand the complaints about the art style at all
its honestly so ugly, but then you sit back and enjoy the way a scene's set up, and you still like it. but its still ugly dam
Agreed.
fundamentally speaking it's hard to see for me the lines are so thin my blind ass can't even see it
When people say a show like this is ugly I just wonder what their base line of quality is. Everything between 12oz Mouse and Arcane is valid in my eyes as long as it looks intentional.
I was just confused the whole time. Didnt understand what was going on.😅
This review makes it seems like a 10/10
because it is
8.5 at the very worst
Cinemasins said it best in the train ep that if R&M where to get religious it would be in character
Also Morty lives countless lives through the VR headset but there's never any real character growth, we have seen him confident and competent in the cartoon but he never changes is personality much at all here. In fact nobody has all that much character growth. I feel it's somewhat disappointing and miss potential.
the biggest thing I don't understand, is why they had to name this rick to also be C-137. Like they could have easily just changed it to something else so that this could still exist in the multiverse as just another rick but I guess not?
This anime is literally horrible. How low are your standards wtf?
Literally horrible
i mean if they said it was the B 400, then we could all enjoy it as an anime dimension, where characters are a little different and so on
I think the last episode was good and ended with that high note. But a lot of the episodes I found boring, like nothing of what can make anime or rick and morty great, something maybe no batshit crazy but at least really different.
Eh. Id stick with the main series. Also OMG the galactic federation was somehow 10x more annoying in this "anime"!
Okay So Rick' & Morty They're

Yeah I’m just gonna stick with the main series, it’s just hard to watch this ugly “anime” version of Rick and Morty. Just couldn’t get into it.
Did you see Winx Club reboot trailer?
The show would have implied a connection between frank and el better, like signs that she remembers being him.
Plus the idea of guy wanting to turn in to a woman just to lie and get closer to another guy comes off as pretty gross to me. Not just in the obvious since but in the never telling him about it part as well.
the rest of what you said make since though.
"Too artsy" is a thing. I found it interesting the first 2 episodes, and then I felt the show was cheating me out of a good experience. Also I think that we didn't need to use C137 for this show. As a matter of fact, I think a lotta people's enjoyment of this show was curbed because they chose to do with 137.
I'm all for having new takes and different perspectives on characters, but you still gotta respect the IP that you're taking it from. Not trying to gatekeep, but this show is not Rick and Morty, is something else with characters using the skin of characters we love. HOTD and GOT taught me that, you can improve on a story, but you can't be arrogant to think you gonna do better than the original creator
thanks for doing this video. i stopped watching after the first episode was so confusing, then binged it once all 10 were out. writers may have over estimated what the average viewer can follow, despite R&M already being an often mind bending series. this may have made more sense had they limited the number of alternate realities portrayed closer to just one virtual, one space morty, one our real morty. the cameos they gave to many side characters was fun, but also added to my initial confusion. i also found it odd that our morty's reality portrayed his parents and sister more extreme than we are used to seeing from the regular cartoon series - which only added further to my confusion. frank was not needed at all as el could have guided space morty to heroics without being that older male version of her, and knowing all futures she/he should have known that, so that was also a wasted diversion with only confused me further. so the concept here was fine, but the execution was too muddled leaving the ratings and reviews to suffer so not a good business plan for anyone involved with this effort, but i do hope it does well enough for them to learn from this mistake and try again in he future; no need to dumb it down, just simplify and clarify things when you first storyboards and write dialog for all this, so even a non R&M viewer might be able to get the gist of it.
As confusing as it was at times, I really liked the anime. It was a nice break away from the norm, the anination style was fun and different, the opening song was a bop, and I really liked the inclusion of Elle. (I think it's partially because her hair reminds me of Dark Magician Girl from "Yu-Gi-Oh!" X333).
I might watch this anime now
....the idea that i watched the first episode 6 times to try to figure out wtf was happening and you somehow figured it out 😂So i like the story, AFTER you explained it, but the show doesn't do this at all, i was and still am confused about the pacing and why their just throwing stuff at us. Wish they did a better job, because this could have been more than just the 'Confusing ugly Rick and Morty" for me
My brain hurts
I still don't get it. I've watched this vid twice and the plot is still confusing
Basically, the whole show is a loop of Elle trying to get wit Morty in a happy ending
@@aiuaforever7739 But morty couldn't go though with dooming another universe. (although he didn't really have the time to think it through)

Thank you, I stopped caring for it 2 episodes in and have no intention of watching the full series.
The story was so disjointed, vague, and esoteric. It clearly was trying to appear deep and mysterious and instead was a muddy mess. Frank was the most annoying part for me, they introduce him and he shows up eandomly towards the beginning and end with zero explanation as to who he actually was. It tries so hard to appear deep and thought out but cant even tell a proper story.
Keep in mind i was a huge defender of this anime and watched all the episodes waiting for the big come-together/ explainer episode that linked all the storylines and it just never happens
