No one knows for sure if he cheated or not. But for an instance let’s think that he did cheat, his tactic would be to make ppl feel bad for him. Not to admit to cheating. Just don’t be so quick to fall for the bait since we don’t know if he cheated or not.
Having such a heavy cloud of doubt and "shame" around would you crush 99% of people mentally, especially when you are a teenager, but if one can find the internal fortitude to turn all that into fuel for the 🔥!!, it can consume the entire world, WE CAN NEVER LET THE THINGS WE'VE DONE OR NOT DONE IN THE PAST DEFINE US, we choose who we are every day with the actions we take, we have to work on ourselves everyday to build REAL VALUE FROM WITHIN so that when people on this earth try to define us by our past, we know who we really are today!, Hans should keep working on his game day and night so that all who cast that shadow over him and tried to cast him into the wilderness, will see the power of 110% percent commitment to getting better through work!
Half these people commenting, would crush crying everyday. (I think me too). Especially when everyone tries to blackball you and giving you zero reasons just because of 1 guy that happens to be the face of chess. Magnus is great but his actions are just weird. He seems butthurt and knows that Hans isn‘t big enough to handle it if he wants to ruin him outside the chess board.
Based on Bobby's chaotic character, if he was born in this modern chess age, I would assume he would make the same mistakes Hans did when he was young. But that shouldn't invslidate his brilliance in chess. @willrobbins2550
Was a wild interview to watch, glad I stuck around. I'm starting to like Hans. To be fair being a 19 Y/O with slander all over national news about "bead's" has to be taxing. Great interview from Danya and Hans.
Came to watch my favorite chess player Hans Moke Niemann play and was happy he won, but even more happy Danya gave him such an opportunity to speak what has been on his mind for so long. Best chess interview i ever seen. Danya you are amazing for this. Hans w. Danya W
I actually like Hans a lot now. He oozes honesty and is a breath of fresh air. Like seriously the way he expresses his honest and true feelings regardless of what people may think is just awesome. Imagine if politicians were like this. I know he may come off as rude or unprofessional to some people, but really it's hard for people to understand what this guy went through at such a young age too. It's actually impossible to imagine or put yourself in his shoes unless you experience something similar yourself. He not only had opportunities taken away from him, he became a meme and the butt of a joke over something that wasn't even true and never proven. Like it's one thing if Logan Paul or Sneako get publicly humiliated / canceled for something awful they actually said or did. But in this case we're talking about a young innocent talented person who wasn't actually bothering anyone or doing anything wrong. He played the game of his life and instead of being congratulated he was punished! How crazy is that?!
@@gottmos9319 i hope you dont have a kid. If you catch them cheatjng in an online chess game at the ripe age of 14 you will probably hold it over their head until they die. Your kid will be 25 years old and receiving menacing side eyes from you because you will never forget that one time they cheated 11 years ago.
4:20, Hans is tearing apart the platform that is hosting him. I can't recall the last time a professional athlete openly objected to the platform/venue that they were participating at hahaha. So entertaining.
I’m newer to the chess world. I have become extremely invested to learning and just growing as a casual player. Learning all of the great GM’s past and present, i absolutely am rooting for Hans so much. I love the anti-hero arc and I love how relatable he is. You look at Magnus, Hikaru, Arjun - it feels hard sometimes to relate but Hans just seems normal. Also, I effing love Daniel (Danya) so much. He is such a great commentator and his puns really are wicked.
I like him too haha. Magnus's refusal to play him is just so weird. If Hans beats Magnus again, and enough times, it makes Magnus's old cheating claims against Hans seem less substantiated, and even childish. Which is turning out to be more and more true by the day, imo. I hope Hans keeps winning haha.
The guy suffered a tragedy, especially for his young age. And unfortunately, being egotistical and having a main character complex only made it easier for the online mob to villainize him.
Also, it's true that Magnus and Hikaru contributed to that. Hikaru attitude didn't really surprised me, he has been childish in the past. Magnus on the other way... I expected better from him.
But he doesnt see the consequences of his own actions. He claims to be fully innocent, but admits he cheated as a kid in price money events, and older but not in events with price money. How can you expect people to trust you? You have shown you aren't trust worthy. Sure a kid should get a chance to redeem himself, but he talks with such arrogance and blames everyone but himself, he doesnt seem like someone who regrets his actions, but the negative consequences, and at this point it might be even just be free publicity for him. He's become more famous and had more fans, even if he also has more haters. He gets more eyes watching and with that more money. He claims they ruined his career, but he's at the best moment in his career. I understand playing chess at such a high level inflates the ego, but he is pure arrogance and doesn't really reflect on his own actions
Yeah everything except for the chess world having a personal vendetta against him. He was just the unfortunate victim of being called a cheater by Magnus, the symbol of all chess, which brought lots of hate to his career.
It's great to see Hans performing well despite increased surveillance. I'd argue it's unreasonable to assume he's continued to cheat under a wide range of environments where he is being deeply monitored in such a fashion. I'm also a huge fan of the Chess site putting out this interview where Hans directly blames them for all of the problems he is facing. Allowing the viewer to decide is far more respectful for us, and for Hans, than trying to cover up and silence Hans' claims. I wish more companies took this route. I disagree with Hans' past but I'm also rooting for his continued success knowing he's playing fairly and succeeding today in 2024. Really just props to everyone here, Hans and the Chess website.

Imagine if he actually beats both Magnus and Hikaru 😂. What are they going to do, accuse him of cheating using some invisible device that the proctors can’t see?
His point that he has now proven that he plays well enough to beat some of the best players in the world, and thus his former victories that were questioned should now be seen to be very plausibly legit, is a very good point.
Yeah and Magnus still refuses to play Hans even though there is no evidence he cheated. Plus Hans has more eyeballs watching his every move since then and not only has there been no evidence of cheating, he’s playing better now than ever before.
@@01foresti think you are slow so let me walk you through so your tiny mind Can understand. Cheating and being good aren’t mutually exclusive, however one of the main points made by people were that how a “random” gm like hans could beat the chess champion, putting into severe questioning his win. By proving he’s one of the best in the world, his win gets a lot more plausibility and makes cheating a very foreign possibility
I'm 49 and still making mistakes in life; nobody is perfect; not even magnus or hikaru; i root for this guy. Besides is good for modern chess to have a "bad boy" to root for or against. And he CAN play pretty good,
@Deerjason if Magnus plans to withdraw or throw then so will Hikaru...ESPECIALLY after the shit Hans was saying specifically about them lol. Good drama doe.
@@Latchback nah, Hikaru won’t withdraw, he dislikes Hans but he will still play him. It’s just Magnus that refuses to play Hans because of his personal vendetta.
The bottom line is that Magnus was embarrassed at the loss, quit the tournament, and then justified his leaving through insinuations about Hans and fair play when there was absolutely NO EVIDENCE. Magnus should apologize as well as those who ran with the accusations.
Huh? I'm pretty sure Danny Rensch's eyes literally turned into dollar signs watching this interview. This is driving massive public attention and popularity of chess, and consequently, greater player numbers for their website.
I truly feel for Hanz, he's been but through hell, but has great tenacity and guts to have dealt with all the world making a joke at his expense, well done Hans❤
I think we can all agry Dany is a real gentleman. He conducted this interview perfectly, with a lot of professionalism. He didnt shy away from the burning topics regarding Niemann, and did his best to state the facts while letting him give his version of things.
Hans is right. I asked in a Hikaru video comments if there was ever any proven cheating by hans besides what he admitted to when younger, or were they unfounded accusations. I didn't know much about the drama so i was genuinely curious. I was met with 3 responses: - "No there was no proven cheating " - "Learn more about chess." - "Once a cheater, always a cheater." So clearly there was no proven cheating besides the admitted cheating. I then researched for myself and feel even more confident now that somehow Hans became the target of the best players in the world with no proof. how is this different from the Kramnik stuff? Good for hans for letting the chess speak for itself. And hats off to Danya for standing by his statement.
Besides the ones online many years ago, as a child, admited by Hans, there is nothing more. All the "beads" stupidity is just a bad joke made by troll. Nothing ever happened OTB. To say "there is no proof" is already an overstatement, because even the suspicion of cheating is just small talk made and cultivaded by subpar intelects.
I also tend to agree with the "once a cheater always a cheater" statement. Of course it's not foolproof, but it makes me very nervous to trust Hans. I'd be happy to be wrong and I hope that we can somehow know with certainty at some point in the future
@@blinkanddie3397 for sure it could come out tomorrow that he has cheated consistently for years and i would say, "ok I guess Magnus was right." But there is currently no proof besides what he admitted to, and let's be honest, we've all done incredibly stupid things when we were younger that we regret. Until it is proven that he has cheated outside of the times he's admitted, I'll stick with innocent until proven guilty. I do think the vigor with which many top players have attempted to crush him with no proof while slamming Kramnik for doing the same is the definition of hypocrisy.
@blinkanddie3397 From that perspective, then I can say, once a lair, always a lair. I'm pretty sure we've all lied when we were kids so it doesn't make sense to judge someone's whole life based on something they did before they were fully matured
The number of his games with 100% accuracy outnumber Fischer, Kasparov, and Magnus combined, who have all played many more games than he has. What are the odds of that do you think? I am still a Hans fan. I wish he'd have been able to keep the cheating under the radar better. I think it'd have been interesting to have a Carlsen rival in strength. I don't think ppl ought to cheat any more than the next person. I just think the scenario of an effective 2900 would have been interesting as a clash with Magnus.
Hans really was treated unfairly, but I don't believe Danny & Magnus are as evil as he does. Though Magnus is probably too arrogant to give the heartfelt response this interview deserves, I think Danny will. Looking forward to that!

BEST INTERVIEW EVER
Han's got strong mental and magnus is weak, Magnus does not want the smoke, hans is coming for him and he can;t get nepo to play him this time
The Bobby Fischer arc goes crazy here.

Based on Bobby's chaotic character, if he was born in this modern chess age, I would assume he would make the same mistakes Hans did when he was young. But that shouldn't invslidate his brilliance in chess. @willrobbins2550

Thats not really what deemed crazy to myself but the mob mentality displayed on the net

@@simonchen6698 Your statement " if mangus beats Hans enough times again " this is why magnus doesn't play Hans cause he has more to lose.
The guy suffered a tragedy, especially for his young age. And unfortunately, being egotistical and having a main character complex only made it easier for the online mob to villainize him.
lol well put and agreed
Also, it's true that Magnus and Hikaru contributed to that. Hikaru attitude didn't really surprised me, he has been childish in the past. Magnus on the other way... I expected better from him.
Agreed

To be fair, he's kinda speaking facts

@@cel1125 Well magnus actually has to play him for that to happen
Magnus is so lazy I can see it happening if Hans keeps his motivation
Magnus will either come so motivated to beat him or he'll throw against Arjun to not play him😭
His point that he has now proven that he plays well enough to beat some of the best players in the world, and thus his former victories that were questioned should now be seen to be very plausibly legit, is a very good point.
Yeah and Magnus still refuses to play Hans even though there is no evidence he cheated. Plus Hans has more eyeballs watching his every move since then and not only has there been no evidence of cheating, he’s playing better now than ever before.
just because he is good enough now, doesn't mean he did not cheat in low-security otb games years ago. idk how his point makes any logical sense.
@@01forest he literally admitted to cheating years ago already. So Hans talking about his previous victory being legit makes zero sense
As an intelligent man myself, Hans being good or bad now doesn't mean he didn't cheat or won't cheat again.

Great interview. It made me change my mind about him.
Hans is right. I asked in a Hikaru video comments if there was ever any proven cheating by hans besides what he admitted to when younger, or were they unfounded accusations. I didn't know much about the drama so i was genuinely curious. I was met with 3 responses:
- "No there was no proven cheating "
- "Learn more about chess."
- "Once a cheater, always a cheater."
So clearly there was no proven cheating besides the admitted cheating.
