The maintenance light indicator can easily be reset. I believe you have to hold the trip button while having the key on the ON position and waiting until it flashes, then start the car up. Also, to fully test your cluster, do a cluster test which is: 1. Put the key at ACC. 2. Turn on parking lights. 3. Hold trip button, put the key to ACC while still holding the trip button, turn OFF, ON, OFF the parking lights, release the trip button and press it 3 times. 4. The gauges should max out, the lights flashing and the trip/odometer gauges maxing out too.
I honestly have to thank you! I’ve been searching how to do this for so long. I clicked on this video to see what the plugs looked like on the ex cluster but apparently you were trying to do the exact same thing as I was!
@@carti4644 the vp looks nothing like this one, this one is the ex. The vp has no tach or red trim on it. One side is the speedometer and the other is fuel/gears/temp.
I did this on my 05 Civic VP. The cluster also came from an 05 civic (a coupe, mine is a sedan), yet I still had to re-pin it. for me, the only light is the SRS light. in your case, the CEL is actually working. Notice that at 10:33, when you started the car, the CEL came on and then went off. It is working normally and you actually had a real CEL there. Also, it's easy to reset the Maintenance light. For anyone wondering, doing this will NOT keep your car's real mileage. It will have the mileage of the car it was originally in. If you want to change it, you have to open the cluster and de-solder a small chip (an L56R EEPROM), then re-program it. there's a video and a forum post on how to do this. It's tricky, and requires soldering equipment (preferably good equipment suited for SMD jobs), an EEPROM programmer or an old computer with a serial port, a few resistors and zener diodes, and a lot of patience. It's doable, but quite hard.
Mines shows the mileage that I had on my old 1 I triple checked 😂 so I was good on that note and I just cut the plug from a old one at the junkyard and jus color coded soo I still have original harness and the new 1 just for back up but good looking bruh this was perfect I did it with them a hour and was happy with the results 💯💪🏽😎

For any people that are still wondering about the engine light after the swap, I disconnected my battery and hooked it back up and it didn't come back on. So my guess is that if there's nothing wrong with your engine, it won't come back on but if there is something wrong, it'll come back on. Also the maintenance required light is super easy to reset, like you can't mess up. You just hold the trip button down on the cluster and turn the key to the accessory mode (mode II) and just keep holding it til the light goes off, should take about ten seconds. Hope I was helpful
Just wondering. What would happen if you didn't swap all the wiring? A lot of places list the 2001-2005 civic gauge clusters as all interchangeable, so I'm just curious what would happen if you just plugged and play.
There's a place in Wisconsin that sold me a refurbished cluster and put the correct mileage on it for like $170? I did that. It works okay, but it reminds me why I typically don't buy manufactured or rebuilt parts. LIke when I first got it some of the bulbs were out, and I did have a day or two when the needles were calibrated. Then I took the cluster out to replace a bulb. It's a lie. They don't replace every single bulb, only the standard ones. The "D" bulb in the gear portion is not a standard bulb, and each one of those costs like $6-7 each. I swapped mine with D3 and the fuel area backlight went in and out for like 2 weeks, but stays on now. I'd still choose that over rewiring an 04-05 cluster in case I screw it up.

Hi marton As u can see there are two holes. Insert the pin on the top hole.. If u see clearly the top hole is bigger than the bottom. Put the paper clip. Big enough so it can go in. Don't put a small pin. As u insert the pin. U can hear a click sound. Holding the pin. At the same time u can pull the wire out easily by hand. If it doesn't then try a different paper clip. Hope it wotks Don't do from the back.
Hi, So Ive rewired mine and it all works exept the ignition key switch, which doesent turn on the radio and the key doesent light up when inserted. The green/black wire was missing on the old 01 cluster. Any ideas?
no works all perfect, actually when i got the cluster i cut the wires from the old scrap car too. so i knew where everything had to go, 1 wire was left over but didnt do anything, its colors of the wire that needs to be matched to the pins, colors mean same thing in all them harnesses.

what u did is one of the cables touch the ground or unput it wrong thats why u dont have energy to power up ur radio what u need to do is look over the wiring or u can just conect the radio directed to a close power sourced use a 7.5 fuse on the bottom fuses is the number 8

For the maintanace light, before placing the key in press and hold the dimmer on the panel, then turn the key all the way but dont start the car, once all the lights come on in about 15 sec the maint require light should go off. As for the check engine in my case was a blown fuse when I did mine. If it's not a fuse, scan it.

Figure out why the check engine light was on yet? Scan it? What about the odometer milage? That's not the original mileage from the engine is it.. Or is that from the mileage of the cluster gauge you put in?
Sorry for the late reply. But no I haven't figured out how to turn off the check engine light. Some people have told me to just pull out the bulb but it doesn't really bother me. And yes it has the milage from the previous car it was in.
Try resetting the check engine light and maintenance it should be good. If you take the bulb out it won't pass smog they check that haha. Thanks for the vid ima try this now👍

Hey man sorry for the late reply. I just went on a 7th gen forum and they have a diagram someone posted. I just printed it out. And as far as the check engine and maintenance light I haven't fixed it cause it doesn't really bother me. And nothing ended up being wrong with the gas gauge :)

Im a bit dissapointed. Cos the video doesnt show us how u changed all the wires in the blue and green plugs. I only saw when u removed first one on green plug and plugged it in the last hole before the clipock. Den video continues from you already on blue plug. Come on that's not how to educate someone. si tienes un el cluster del 2003 con el alambrado y se lo quieres poner a un de 1999 al 2002 es facil solo corta los alambres y reconectalos como los tiene al que le vas a poner solo te deve de sobrar 1 es una cable blanco no tiene uso yo lo hise en el mio
x sierto trata de que los alambres no toke tierra vas aser corto y tu esterio no funsionara... y tu cluster le va a pareser el freno y matenimiento en ocasiones... puedes borrarlos o solo no condectes los dos cables no pasara nada solo desaparesen del cluster

Srs light is common for 2001.to 2005. U have to clean the seat belt. Check in TH-cam they show how to clean and how to reset it

it will change because its an electronic odometer. a normal spinning one would not read your current miles.

Fixed: add the red and black wire to the red and blue wires now the dimmer and beeper both work

yes buddy, it blew a fuse when i was trying to connect it, i would 100% think same happend to you, check the fuse box under the bonnet or (hood).
its ignition fuse, and radio works of the ignition if its not turned on the radio wont get the signal to say: yes turn me on, hehehe.

Figure out why the check engine light was on yet? Scan it? What about the odometer milage? That's not the original mileage from the engine is it.. Or is that from the mileage of the cluster gauge you put in?
Sorry for the late reply. But no I haven't figured out how to turn off the check engine light. Some people have told me to just pull out the bulb but it doesn't really bother me. And yes it has the milage from the previous car it was in.
Thanks for the reply. Would it still pass inspection with the light on? I guess as long as there are no other issues. I'm not sure if it would or not.

Try resetting the check engine light and maintenance it should be good. If you take the bulb out it won't pass smog they check that haha. Thanks for the vid ima try this now👍

I did the swap recently and the only problem I have is when my headlights is on and i turn off my car it don't make the beeping sound the let you know the headlights still on.

Awesome diy, I've been looking for a video that shows this process. I knew it was possible. I'd like to know how you fix the maintenance required, the check engine, and the gas gauge. Also where did you find the wiring diagram? 01-03 civics came with lame and basic gauge clusters. I can't wait to do mine.
Hey man sorry for the late reply. I just went on a 7th gen forum and they have a diagram someone posted. I just printed it out. And as far as the check engine and maintenance light I haven't fixed it cause it doesn't really bother me. And nothing ended up being wrong with the gas gauge :)

Yo estoy justo en eso: apenas hice la Tabla en Word para identificar Cables por color para un 2004 Civic LX AT (3 Círculos) en negro/azul ya que conseguí el de un 2002 Civic AT EX (4 Círculos) blanco/? CANADIENSE que trae los 2 Conectores azul/verde y 3cm de Cables; así que puedo ver colores del AT EX.
Conecté directo y NO reacciona; no tiene Corriente y lo desconecté.
He intentado sacar los pin y NO LO LOGRO aún. En el de 2002 el TERCERO que es COMBINADO separa la Temperatura al Lado izquierdo y el de Gasolina al Lado derecho.
Si ves el del Vídeo los tiene vacíos.
Espero funcione la idea de Brandon Gonzalez para el AT.
OJO: busca en otro Comentario la Respuesta que habla de Diagramas; aún no lo he ido a buscar Ahí.

Avraham Sabach you have to push the button why then turn the key to 3 with out turning the car on and keep holding it and the check engine light is on because something is wrong with his car but you can remove a fuse to turn that on

Im a bit dissapointed. Cos the video doesnt show us how u changed all the wires in the blue and green plugs. I only saw when u removed first one on green plug and plugged it in the last hole before the clipock. Den video continues from you already on blue plug. Come on that's not how to educate someone. Theres a point u said one wire from green plug has to cross to blue. We didnt see the wire and next clip we saw was already finished wiring then testing. Come on this video isnt helpful cos i cant change my cluster if i dont see full techniques u used and where u replaced each wiring. Sorry the video wasnt helpful cos i should see step by step 🚶 how you interchanged the wirings so i dont end up burning the cluster i want to replace it with

si tienes un el cluster del 2003 con el alambrado y se lo quieres poner a un de 1999 al 2002 es facil solo corta los alambres y reconectalos como los tiene al que le vas a poner solo te deve de sobrar 1 es una cable blanco no tiene uso yo lo hise en el mio
x sierto trata de que los alambres no toke tierra vas aser corto y tu esterio no funsionara... y tu cluster le va a pareser el freno y matenimiento en ocasiones... puedes borrarlos o solo no condectes los dos cables no pasara nada solo desaparesen del cluster
