  • HVDC Thyristor Valve Acoustic Noise Produced During Its Operation
    Hi
Welcome to our channel "Technovision Academy". Our Aim is to Present Engineering & Technological Advancements and share Practical Field-Oriented Knowledge to Our Dear Most Viewers.
    About the Video:
HVDC Converters produces acoustic noise during the operation of the thyristor valves which are more than the noise produced by normal three-phase power transformers. Converter stations produce acoustic noise. Converter stations can generate serious levels of radio-frequency interference, so include design features to control these emissions. Walls may provide noise protection. As with all AC substations, oil from equipment must be prevented from contaminating groundwater in case of a spill. The substantial area may be required for overhead transmission lines, but can be reduced if the underground cable is used.
    Thank You So Much

Does it produce a sine wave signal, but does it with a thyristor? Not Triac?

      Its using thyristor

@@technovisionacademy Thank you, in the meantime, I looked at the operating principle.

Amazing! It's not dangerous being in the valve hall with these guys energized?

Dear Mauricio...It is safe as they are in Faraday cage protection which is induction free zone.

    Hello!
I would like to know why it make this noise while it’s operating.

It's 12 Pulse converter in which power electronic thyristors are used. During its operation it produces harmonics which ultimately leads to production of such high noice.
