  • I use the JD 54" auto-connect deck on my 1025r - for my application it's very useful and gets the job done very well.

    When one person starts mowing and all the others have to I call that adult peer pressure.

    I have a similar yard and the same tractor and mower. I love the drive over feature and I couldn’t be happier with what I have.
    I did make up my own system for picking up the deck with the loader and, while not perfect, is very handy when I take the blades off for sharpening or putting on the mulching kit.
    This tractor was some of the best money I have ever spent.
    Great job on your video!

      I’d love to see what you built for lifting the deck up! I wish the 54” had the lift brackets that the 60” has, would be so useful.. Thanks for watching!

      @craig thorich - I would love also to see what you built for lifting the deck up. Maybe share a video with KVINCE Outdoors, who could maybe provide his own commentary? Just a thought…

      Heck, I just use the pallet forks on my loader to pickup the mower deck for my tractor LOL.

    As much as I hate having two machines I lucked up and got into a used Deere z915e zero turn with 130 hours for $3500. It cost me about as much as the deck upgrade would have. Keeps hours off my tractor too.

    How large is your property? Looking at the video it looks like overkill. What do you primarily use the tractor for?

      Oh its definitely overkill LOL. I have an acre, and have a sub-compact tractor which I bought mostly for the loader and rear PTO functionality for roto-tilling and that type of stuff....however, I did go ahead and get the 60" mid mount mower...one thing I like about how my tractor manufacturer designed their 60" decks is they offset the deck on the tractor so the left side sticks out farther, so trimming around obstacles is extremely easy, cuts down on the amount of weed eating, or mowing with a walk behind to get around trees, and the yard border. I don't have the drive over deck with my tractor, my tractor manufacturer offers it but didn't see any reason for it, and it adds a lot of crap hanging from under the tractor when the deck is removed that'll get snagged on stuff....with the deck removed on my tractor there's nothing hanging down it all tucks up into the tractor frame. I don't use the tractor to mow very often, but when I do, its usually for a friend who has a larger property with wide open areas to mow. I have a lawn tractor that I use most of the time for my own property, and my sub-compact tractor still takes up a larger footprint with the loader removed and rear implement removed....its longer and a little wider than a regular lawn tractor, and made even longer with the 3 point hitch arms sticking out the back....although, mowing with my tractor is much more comfortable and easier due to its size and it has power steering where my lawn tractor is smaller, and lighter weight and lacks power steering.
      I didn't buy my tractor to mow the lawn with, I knew it was overkill, but still got the mower deck because I know I can mow with it if I need to, my tractor will far outlast my lawn tractor, so, only made sense to buy the mower deck for my tractor and I'll never have to buy another lawnmower.
      I do roto-tilling occasionally, and loader work around my property, which were a couple main uses, plus I have a box blade and a rear scraper blade so I can do snow removal if needed...being able to clear snow, and keep the gravel driveway leveled out and free of holes and such were a couple of the items high on the list for buying a tractor....the mower deck just happened to be a bonus, as at the time they had a deal going on where if you bought the tractor with a loader and at least 1 implement you got the mower free, apparently must sometimes be something a dealership can do from what I was told, by doing package deals certain times of the year....I don't know, but it worked out for me LOL.
      Would I buy a sub-compact tractor just as a lawnmower, no, because my property is small enough a regular box store lawn tractor can easily handle the task....if you have a couple acres or more of grass to mow, it might be a wise choice, but then again a lawn tractor, or zero turn would probably be better if you wanted to get done faster, although the tractor moves out pretty well, its quite a rough ride LOL. The only reason to really get a sub-compact or a compact tractor for mowing duties, is if you are running a brush hog (rotary cutter), or a flail mower as they don't have the speed and agility that a zero turn has.

    I have the same setup. It’s a solid mowing system but mowing is a secondary strength compared to all the other cool things it does. A zero turn mower is undoubtedly faster and far more maneuverable and probably more fuel efficient, especially with the high cost of diesel. BTW I just pop off the bucket to mow.
    I find that I need to sharpen the blades about every 6-8 hours of use; especially with so many gopher mounds.
    It rains a lot here 70” a year so the grass gets up to 32” high so collecting the cut grass remains a big deal. Driving in a tightening spiral sweeps the grass towards the center but it gets super thick and becomes hard to manage. My landscape rake doesn’t work well to collect it up…

      I'm also finding that I'm about to the point where I need to sharpen the blades as well. Its only on the first summer of using it and we had a drought this season so I didn't use it as much as I had anticipated but over all, I'm pretty happy with how it performs.

    Does it lift and cut the grass under the front wheel tracks? That’s the issue I see with a lot of mower decks.

    • @kvinceoutdoors
      @kvinceoutdoors  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I'm understanding correctly, does it have a way to pop the grass back up after the front wheels flatten it so the grass is cut equally, no there is no mechanism on the deck to do that but I've only ever noticed that issue of uneven cuts if I mow when the grass is wet or damp, if it's dry it bounces back up in time for the blades to hit.

    Oh my gosh get a spinner knob for that steering wheel!!!!!!!!

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c ปีที่แล้ว

      One of the first things I bought for my tractor...great very inexpensive add-on. I hardly ever steer with the steering wheel itself, most of the time I grab the spinner knob its much easier to control that way it seems.

      Thank you! - They're the Versa Turf tires. A mix between a less aggressive ag tire and a true turf tire. They've been great in every scenario so far.

    One thing, PLEASE flip the backhoe retaining pins around so the handle pin goes through the inboard slot when you reinstall the backhoe.

      Have you not watched any of the other videos? It gets used to mow more frequently than any other one task but all together I'm using it pretty equally between mowing and the many other things I find myself doing.

    You could easily get this done with a zero turn. Why such a big tractor for a small yard?

    • @kvinceoutdoors
      @kvinceoutdoors  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mowing is only one of the things I use it for, the other videos show other things I do with the loader, backhoe and grapple attachments I have. Also because its the smallest subcompact with those capabilities so, other than having multiple machines, the all-in-one format was attractive to me.
