    • @NeesyPlaysGuitar
      @NeesyPlaysGuitar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@80Days its when you get greedy with those full tone bends and try and turn them into an out of tune "grinder" as i've always called them. you know, somewhere between 3rd and 4th semitone (my guts says its like 3.333 recurring for some reason, literally no logic to this, its basically a superstition lol). i snapped my high e on this jam track about a year ago and had to change the strings on my edge zero trem for the first time. Don't know much to anything about theory, so can you explain why a E/Ab chord works with a Bm scale, when Ab is not a note in that scale?

    • @jeremylobenberg7593
      @jeremylobenberg7593 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You're confused because It Doesn't work as it's not truly in B minor. It switches back and forth between B Dorian and B minor. Its those E major chords and that E/ab (which really is a passing chord between A major and G Major) that's throwing you off. In short, play a Dorian Mode (or just make sure you're playing G#/Ab) during those E major and E/Ab Chords. Switch back to G Natural when the G major chord comes up again. Its a great track, but the Aeolian Tag is Misleading.

    Thanks for making the track, it's very nice to jam to, but I wanted to make a few points to hopefully help some others here after looking at the chords and scale written in the video:
    First - From a theory point of view, the E/Ab chord should be written as E/G# as G# is the major third within an E Major chord. An Ab is out of context as it's a diminished fourth which is not included. The chord is a first inversion triad (or slash chord) with the third in the bass instead of the root which is voiced higher in the chord.
    Secondly - It's misleading to write B Aeolian as the scale that can be used over this progression in its entirety. Whilst you can think modally and use B Aeolian over the Bm chord, the note of G will sound completely 'outside' over an E Major triad. As explained above, there is a G# in an E Major triad so playing a minor (or flat) third instead of the major third over that specific chord will give you a very dissonant sound. If you are looking for a scale the fits better you can use B Minor Pentatonic over most of the chords except for any E Major chord where you can target the triad arpeggio (E, G# and B). For reference, E and B are included in Bm Pentatonic but G# is not, so targeting that note will give you a contrast to the pentatonic scale used over the other chords.
    Third - The chart is written incorrectly with the bar lines in the wrong places. The first line should be written:
    1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
    I Bm A I E/G# G A I
    Hope this helps some others playing along!
    Thanks again.

      You can really use any of the modal "shapes" over this. It's about the choral and non chordal tones in each. You can use B minor pentatonic on this. E Dorian/pentatonic too. Use your ears to tell you what works.

    • @davidkodym6029
      @davidkodym6029 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      don't use many notes, go for rhythm and feeling. 1 and m3 intervals are enough for the beginning, then extend for 5 and m7. It is much better to use one meaninigful note and to really feel that you make sense and that you joined the music and jumped on the train, chop the note or mute it or sqeeze it or break it, roll the rhythm off beat onbeat whatever or importantly do not to play the note when not desired, just for need of making a sound. It is also important, that you can execute the note in exact time you intend to. So finaly, are you able to play a sound exactly on the beat with the track? just simple 1...2...3...4...? If not just forget about any notes, and learn to make sound on time:-) Hope it helps you a little.
