Normally, I'd think the same, but I think that, in this case, they chose to side with the cheating ex because they didn't want to ruin their friendship with his parents.
I remember a story where OP's boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend, and OP only found out because the friend got pregnant. Turns out everyone in OP's family knew about the cheating and hid it from OP, and when she found out, they still sided with the cheaters. Reason? The cheaters' parents were friends with OP's parents, and they chose their friendship over her.
OP ran away from home and didn't speak to them for a very long time, and when she finally did, now married and mother to two children, her mother still had the audacity to demand that she mended things with the cheaters.

Charlie makes a damn good point about OP's grandparents, they only got involved when they started firing back on their parents, but before that they were "sort it out yourself".

Somebody did a reality check to that family and told that they failed in everything. And because of that, they lost the chance of being part of a rich family.
Also, losing the chance of being grandparents in case of op gets pregnant.

So, the only thing now is to sit in their house all alone because they couldn't be bothered to learn about OP's character and for having the moral rot to side with a cheater. They can all they want, but OP should never let them meet her future kids.

Lets be honest, the parents created this situation in more ways than one. In the backstory, OP mentions they were on again off again sweethearts and I'm sure left to their own devices they would've figured out for themselves they were incompatible as a forever couple. But the parents pressured them into marriage like they were matchmaking their children together so I think they have some blame for the failure of this marriage. That said Nick was 100% responsible for his actions and cheating was not the right answer to this situation. Honestly these two sets of family friend parents come across as shippers who thought they could match their children together and unite the families like they're in a cheesy hallmark film.
