Normally, I'd think the same, but I think that, in this case, they chose to side with the cheating ex because they didn't want to ruin their friendship with his parents. I remember a story where OP's boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend, and OP only found out because the friend got pregnant. Turns out everyone in OP's family knew about the cheating and hid it from OP, and when she found out, they still sided with the cheaters. Reason? The cheaters' parents were friends with OP's parents, and they chose their friendship over her. OP ran away from home and didn't speak to them for a very long time, and when she finally did, now married and mother to two children, her mother still had the audacity to demand that she mended things with the cheaters.
Charlie makes a damn good point about OP's grandparents, they only got involved when they started firing back on their parents, but before that they were "sort it out yourself". Kudos to OP for keeping their distance but i don't believe this relationship is salvageable
Grandparents: "You need to sort it out yourself!" OP: **sorts it out herself** Grandparents: "No, not like that! You're supposed to be a doormat and do what we and your parents tell you!"
Grandparents: "your supposed to do whatever they say you should be fine that they supported nick and his cheating" Op: "no" Grandparents: "it doesnt matter your parents need to look good aswell and if it requires being a doormat then you shouldnt even have a thought"
Somebody did a reality check to that family and told that they failed in everything. And because of that, they lost the chance of being part of a rich family. Also, losing the chance of being grandparents in case of op gets pregnant.
That is wonderful. OP's kids don't deserve to meet them. I unfortunately experienced bad grandparents. I do not want to subject my kids to my parents because they, too, are unpredictable and a bit dangerous.
Also could've had an amazing retirement home and furneal. But neglectful parents are always bad people. Op even admitted they don't know her because they neglected her even as a kid and teenager. Those parents are a waste of space.
The whole "be greatful your parents provided for you" defense is so stupid. Thank you oh great ones for fulfilling your legal obligation after bringing me into the world when i had no choice...is that what you're looking for?!?
They didn't apologize for EVERYTHING too. Such cowards. They lost OP. They failed to raise and wasted so much time to learn about her. So, the only thing now is to sit in their house all alone because they couldn't be bothered to learn about OP's character and for having the moral rot to side with a cheater. They can all they want, but OP should never let them meet her future kids.
Ops parents are just jealous because op is marrying into money but money has nothing to do with who op gets married to and op is happy with her husband.
They could be angry that their daughter will marry into money but, with no contact between the three of them, their own social status will not improve any time soon!
What's the point of apologizing forever as well if their behaviour won't change and the only thing they'll ever do is wait till forgiven instead changing?
@@dunnomuch-7875 My parents are the same. They say they're sorry for being bad parents. But hardly they say sorry for the specific thing they did. I think like once from my dad and 3 from my mom. And they still never learned after over 25 with me and my 4 siblings.
@@Polemistis0416 They're sorry cuz they're facing the consequences of it, not necessarily sorry for what they've done😭. I'm so sorry mate that u have shitty parents, hope ur doing fine now.
LOOOOL “i know your parent took the side of your cheating Ex, cut contact with you, continue to support your Ex and only got back in contact with you cause of your fiancé’s money…oh but you hurt their feelings so you should apologize” The fact that Op even questioned this is laughable.
Yay no i would nevvveeeeerrrr trust them ever again. Because this switch of atitude was a little too sudden . Also them knowing about Op's ex live means that they are still in contact beurk 🤮
The grandparents believe that Op should "sort it out herself" when she is being hurt by her, but when her parents have gotten "hurt", they are suddenly involved.
This is a completely different thought for this situation....and its my personal opinion...but if my future wife have second thoughts about me telling her parents off...that would've been a game changer for me....
Charlie is a saint for protecting OP after calling out the bs that the family has been playing to eventually find they are hypocrites, image signaling (posers), and likely cheaters themselves.
"You were never on my side. You stayed out of it and the momenti retaliate is the moment you side with my parents. Go back to the bench and stay out of my problems with my parents or join them on the bus out of my life."
OP your own parents siding with your cheater spouse, is another level of evil and manipulative behavior. Also, I would cut ties and go NC with all the people who side with such disgusting people, are not worth my time, effort, energy, or money.
Lets be honest, the parents created this situation in more ways than one. In the backstory, OP mentions they were on again off again sweethearts and I'm sure left to their own devices they would've figured out for themselves they were incompatible as a forever couple. But the parents pressured them into marriage like they were matchmaking their children together so I think they have some blame for the failure of this marriage. That said Nick was 100% responsible for his actions and cheating was not the right answer to this situation. Honestly these two sets of family friend parents come across as shippers who thought they could match their children together and unite the families like they're in a cheesy hallmark film.
Yep. I just wish she just tell them to piss off. They chose a cheater as their new son. They lost their daughter and future grandkids. OP should never get back to them because it took them THIS F**KING LONG to finally apologize.
How? So you would be totally fine of your husband cheat on you and 5 f years your parents never go your back, not even when you need them the most, yeah she married someone that is rich, but that isn't the reason she married him, if was only that and to shove that in her parents face she would have call them to her house, but she didn't, they figure out where she live somehow, nothin in! His story show that she is materiastical.
Where and how? 5 years those people (her parents) side with her husband that cheat on her. Are you saying cheating is fine? If that is the case don't get into a relationship because you are going to do the same.
How did you come up to that? OP was cheated on, her parents wanted her to forgive her and abandoned her for divorcing the cheater, so she moved on, got into a new relationship and was annoyed they only came back around because he has money.
It's not your fault it's your parents fault because they decided to side with her cheating husband and that's not right and they should pay for their actions and go to hell for what they have done to her and if you guys can't see that then you guys are delusional and they don't deserve anything for sided with her cheating husband and you don't have to apologize for anything it's their fault not yours.
No doubt op's dad has cheated before and her mom has let it slide.
Oh definitely
Or the other way around who knows

She's dumb in my opinion
Any person who defends cheaters is a cheater.
They don't always have to be cheaters, sometimes they are also Narcissists
I disagree. But maybe if they experience the temptation, then we can know. They're just evil.
The worst thing is they were against their OWN DAUGHTER

Its called guilt tripping
Anyone that defends a cheater is projecting. They cheated their partners and have no moral to stand against it
OP's parents can't just waltz back to OP's life
They didn't apologize for EVERYTHING too. Such cowards. They lost OP. They failed to raise and wasted so much time to learn about her. For the money
One of op's parents is a cheater and do NOT believe their last apology attempt. They are playing the long con for money. Fact
Im betting my life on both man
Who wants to bet that either the mom or dad cheated?
Cause as we all know, only cheaters side with cheaters
Both did.
Both did and still do😂
Not really. People keep saying this but it's obvious to me the parents are misogynistic.

Charlie shutting the door on your parents after that fiery comeback was such a mic-drop moment! Props to him for standing by you
The AITA questions are getting more and more annoying?
Charlie is a saint for protecting OP after calling out the bs that the family has been playing to eventually find they are hypocrites, image signaling (posers), and likely cheaters themselves.
Your not a good family if you protect a cheater.
Charlie is the textbook definition of a keeper.
"You were never on my side. You stayed out of it and the momenti retaliate is the moment you side with my parents. Go back to the bench and stay out of my problems with my parents or join them on the bus out of my life."
It's always about money, in all of these stories. The ultimate question is would I want all this hassle over wealth? Yes, I would.
Standing up for yourself is not 'having an attitude' its having self respect
Nah, Fiance is a W, for real. Bro flexed and shat on them in the same sentence, and it was beautiful.
The least the parents could have done was help their daughter when that goober cheated. They are no longer owed respect.
One of OP's parents cheated. The extreme lengths they went through to punish OP for leaving. It didn't help when OP's and Nick's parents were friends.
Sounds like the parents and grandparents are looking for OP and new fiancé to take care of them all.
OP your own parents siding with your cheater spouse, is another level of evil and manipulative behavior. Also, I would cut ties and go NC with all the people who side with such disgusting people, are not worth my time, effort, energy, or money.

you should ask your mom if ou got cheated on work hard would you still think you can make it work and your parents side with your cheated ex
While op isn't wrong they do have an attitude issue and if this isn't ai generated it seems like op does have instincts come off as materialistic.

I disagree about being materialistic, it was the stbh who mentioned the money, not OP.
