Can you beat Fallout 4 with a PADDLEBALL?

- Nuka world is one of those fallout 4 Dlcs that’s brings with it a couple of weapons that aim to break the norm in either wacky design like the acid soaker or a joke weapon like the thirst zapper, but what about the often forgoten third option, the paddle ball? A weapon with possibly the worst ammo source I’ve ever seen and a weapon that doesn’t seem to benefit from any damage boosting perks like bloody mess and lone wanderer. So of course that means I wanna find out if you can beat fallout 4 with only the paddle ball? The rules are simple, I can only use the paddle ball and its bash to deal dmaage im allowed to use the thirst zapper for colters fight, no companions unless otherwise forced through quests, and no glitches or exploits, other than a slight detour from the gauntlet if you wanna get nitty gritty, but without further ado, let’s get into it. A weapon so bad that even Bethesda themselves said was bad, but it cant be that bad right?

I like how the most painful weapon challenges have been from nuka world
Coolest weapon design, complete bonkers mechanics, wackest ammo sources = nuka world
Bethesda knew what they were doing
Nuka world was made as an absolute giant middle finger to any and all fans that find any actual enjoyment in fallout beyond mindless consumption
I wanted aeternus so bad that the NPCs inside the cola cars arena didn't despawn and crashed my game many times.

Also, isn't there more upgrades for the paddle ball? to be fair i didn't even remember it existed, i think the only weapon with an ever worse ammo is the acid gun

I love how you can craft paddle ball ammo in Fallout 76 yet I don't think I've ever seen a single paddle ball
You can buy the paddle from that clown robot in nuka world on tour.
It makes me cry knowing the upgrades for the paddleball in 76 where removed.
I have the Nuka quantum and Nuka Cherry Paddle Balls in F76. Also you can get a basic paddle ball from the mr.fuzzy amusement park from a terminal for fuzzy tokens
@@ChangedCauseYT-HateFoxNamesthey still exist, but only on the pre crafted paddle balls. I have a Nuka Cherry and Nuka Quantum Paddle Ball. However just like in Fallout 4 the perks that benefit it are awkward.
Don't think of upgrading the paddle ball as +3 or +10 damage.
Since you start at 1, think of it as *3 *10 etc

For others who might be trying this run but are unfamiliar with the weapon; you can get some weaponised nuka-cola mods that make the Paddle-ball _far_ more powerful... _but..._
They're only available after you complete Nuka World's main story.
So it's kind of a catch-22 situation; to get the powerful mods that would make this much easier, you need to fight a lot of tough enemies... but you need those powerful mods to beat those enemies.
Not a fun dilemma.
To be fair, you can skip 90% of the nukaworld quest line by just doing the "open season" quest as opposed to the normal questline
@jamesfields2609 which is even worse, because that's a lot of Raiders, and some very powerful boas characters.
@benjaminfinlay829 I'm 80% sure the raiders aren't as bad as things like nukalurk queens and gatorclaws lol

I dont think i used it much if any in fo4 but in 76 you can make quantum zapper whixh is a mini mini nuke so seems easy.
@@KayJay940I think you can find a blueprint to do this in fo4 as well. Makes it a power house.
The thirst zapper was a breeze compared to this haha. And yes you can use the same schematics for the thirst zapper to make even more upgrades for the paddle ball, BUT at the cost of x5 the ammo. Haha the thirst zapper wins my vote every day of the week

absolute madlad, tried this a couple months ago and nearly lost my mind, not even because of the damage or the ammo but the range on this thing is non existent
The range is abysmal, and thankfully in vats you can get around this… until your victim backs up 2 feet and you watch all your hard earned ammo get wasted in slow motion hahaha

Really only good if your run limits mines. But yes. Even robot hacking is an option. Both only available on an int build where most use idiot savant.
Gaahh i forgot about this weapon... and 76 has that goofy carnival hammer thing, good combo there. Also, nice choice in ADTR music!!

Huh, so that's how the Paddle Ball works... I just never saw any results even when I used the last upgrade so I thought the thing was broken...
Turns out the damage output is just that pathetic. Or I wasn't using it at point blank range...
I just wanna say it is possible to beat Colter without the thirst zapper.
You'll need better Criticals, bloody mess, and that wall breaking Perk. It will take some time depending on your gun and if you have vats perks or not but it's possible.

P.S. Did you check the chemistry station or the ammo crafter from the factory dlc to see if you could craft the paddle ball ammo? (I can’t confirm if any of these work or not at the current moment.)
I have not, I’ll have to look into that
Unfortunately, the Contraptions Workshop dlc doesn't check if you have other dlcs, so no 7.62, .45-70, or paddle ball string for free :(

Isn't the entire point of having a paddle-ball that it comes back to the paddle because it is attached to a spring?
Why would you need string as ammunition? Does it tear every time? And if it does, why don't you need the ball?

If I ever design a highly successful RPG, I’m going to make sure to put in at least 30 different joke weapons of varying degrees of absolute uselessness. That way people will be compelled to waste hours off of their lives doing mind-numbing challenges of those weapons for clout

I can't believe you did a paddle ball only. This really looks like death itself. It would be cool to see you try to beat fallout 4 as an Avengers superhero on survival. There are lots of mods for it. They would probably help the Minutemen or the Railroad. The Avengers would probably do everything to antagonize the Brotherhood knowing them, especially after Hydra. I really love your character themed runs like Rick and Morty or the Fox dads. I don't even watch any of those shows and they were great.

I feel like you've established a cycle where you can infinitely grind string, no one is gonna notice if you do a little console commands to spawn in some string
I would know haha, it was my same mindset for the thirst zapper, I could make as much ammo as I wanted and was only limited in supplies and caps, but the struggle of trying to make every shot count gave the run excitement
Buffjet might have been better for the "gun" bashing? Don't know if the extra strength would affect the damage?

you might of mentioned it at some point and i just missed it, but doesnt the paddle ball have special project cobalt mods?
edit: now that i think about im pretty sure power needs to be activated in nuka before you can get project cobalt schematics. So unlerss theres a way to skip turning on power you'd have to finish nuka world first, which would be a bit of a pain

You can get around 300 string ammo by killing the ticket robot from the haunted mansion in Nuka World. That would have saved you a lot of nerves.
There’s another one? I killed the ticket taker outside the grand Chester mystery mansion and only got 100

Honestly woulda been more interesting if you had just consoled up infinite string. Meh was mostly just a bash run.
You can also add rules to the run such as trading all your ammo and caps for a certain amount. Which is legit play.
Still waiting on my Rock 'em sock 'em Robot idea...

No but I could try that out with some of the crazier nuka mods, give it to Preston and watch him resurrect the minutemen all by himself haha
