      I just purchased a 2021 Tundra 5.7 L and I have been doing this on both highway and city but averaging only 13.6 MPG. Is the bad MPG compared to others here due to the low profile tires the previous owner has on this Xp Series Tundra? Also, do K and N filters really help? Thanks for your help guys!

    I got 22.8 mpg on my 2016 tundra 5.7 limited. culpeper va. to outer banks Nc. 250 miles and back 489. Hwy. just stay in right lane. Easy on throttle. You get there same time dad everyone else does because there is always traffic slowing down sledding up. Thanks enjoyed.

    i have a '21 2WD and get similar mileage with freeway and city on both ends. I have yet to do a freeway only test. 20.5 is the best so far. Coasting to the lights when I can and driving bare foot on the way home. The pedal is sensitive when going slow, letting off then giving it the gas. The injector shut off is good to have off throttle but does add to some jerky behavior. Worth the gas savings.

  • @303MoTo

    I typically get 12-13 when I'm running errands close to home, lots of short trips 2-3 miles. When I highway drive I'm usually around 16-18. Best I ever got was a trip to Omaha and back, 20.5 mpg. But that only happened once

    I can get 19-20 mpg on a 3 hour trip with mostly 60-65 mph roads with hills too. It’s very easy you just can’t mash on the throttle all the time. When taking off if you keep it around 2k rpms until you get up to speed you can easily get great mpgs. And that it with the occasional getting on the throttle to pass someone or taking off hard just for fun. And if you are coming into a 45 zone or a 30 zone just let off the throttle and coast.

  • @swingdaddy2126

    Stock exhaust, drop in K&N air filter with TRD air flow accelerator. Denso iridium spark plugs. This easy combo of parts gets me 22 MPG. Another trick is when at 70-80 mph lock tranny in 5th gear and feather the throttle. I have seen even better MPG doing this. I guess I am leaving this comment to back up what this guy is saying.

    Some days I get great mpg other days is atrocious 😂 all because some days I love to let the v8 sing and other days I'm cruising like a gramps. Just depends how you drive. I don't care what truck you have but if your being a speed racer from light to light and lifted with heavy tires you gonna get terrible mpg no matter what you do. Leave the tundra stock with a good set of highway ats and you'll easily get 18 plus on the highway.

      we did a trip where we got the best MPG ever in the mountains of SW Colorado where we got like 25mpg.... I will do a more in depth video on this topic ... but it should not matter... when u go uphill there is a return downhill... based on the comments I received it seams like 20mpg is a very achievable tundra fuel flow.

    • @AndreiDoroftei
      @AndreiDoroftei  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      one more thing... because the tundra weighs so much and the engine powerful and thirsty it is very sensitive to throttle inputs when it comes to MPGs ... it does not take much to go from 20mpg to 14mpg.... its learning to ride that line...

    Just finished a trip in my 2013 Tundra with the 4.6L 2WD, from georgia to virginia and averaged 20 mpg doing 65-70 mph, including mountain driving for portions. Ive averaged 22mpg in this truck in the past, but drove no faster than 60-62 mph. I have a 2019 Tundra with the 5.7, 4WD. Ive averaged 20mpg in it also, on long drives, staying 60-65 mpg. Using the cruise control will hurt mileage, as it will use agressive throttle bursts to hold the assigned speed. Have to drive like you have a fresh egg between your foot and the pedal.

    Everyone seems to be impatient and in a hurry . If I glide up to the lights and slowly increase speed setting off from the lights I get dirty looks or people who can't wait and scream past. Including large trucks. Unfortunately there is no patients left even at the super market. I have always driven just inside the speed limit or lower depending on road conditions, etc. I have an RX 450 hybrid, which takes premuim fuel. Here you can get a traffic ticket by exceeding 2 kilometres per hour over the speed limit. But 98% of drivers go over that and most go well over that. Fuel costs keep rising With the cost of fuel rising I may look at an electric car. I prefer hybrid because I have both forms of propulsion. Beside once enough people go on to electric the cost of electricity will go up or there will be a heafty Government tax. In order to get electricity most places still have to burn or use fossil fuels.
