Pro tip - put some velcro on that garage door opener and put it at the bottom of your screen on the back side...easy to reach up and tap that open close button and it is hidden
My R1s was just delivered the morning. Previously owned a MY, and test drove a Highland Saturday. This video is so spot on!!! I really can’t add anything because your comparison is very good. I hope Rivian can get their UI/UX both in the car and in the app as refined as Tesla. Like you said Tesla has had years to get to this point.
CyberTruck also has an air suspension which he said only the S & X have. It’s almost like this was made before the November CyberTruck release, but I’m almost sure he didn’t pick up his Rivian until after that release.
I own a Model Y performance and just test-drove Model X, S, and Rivian within 72 hrs - the "precision" that you mention about 1:30 is so accurate, and for me because I don't need the utility, a deal breaker on the Rivian. The accelerator seems very springy and has a laggy response time, including highway speeds as well.
I have a 2018 Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor and a 2023 Rivian R1S quad-motor. I believe that the build quality and the interior of the R1S are superior to a relatively early Model 3. The software and charging network of Tesla, however, still win hands-down. Comparing Tesla’s 4th build with Rivian’s first has to be taken into the equation. I would still happily buy another vehicle from either company.
100 % agree that Throttle at low speed deftness to be improved. I also drive an Ioniq 5 and when I first drove my Rivian, I thought I was doing something wrong when it wouldn't move forward right away when I stepped on the accelerator.
Really appreciate the unique perspective. We are considering a new Model Y versus a now less expensive R1T lease, and I think will probably just stick with the Tesla.
Maybe you are comparing apples and oranges here. The powered Frunk on the Rivian is super and needs to be added to the Tesla. It would be so much easier if when you approach the frunk it opens so that you can unload you armfuls groceries etc. into it.
Thanks for the video! I have a 23' MYLR, and have an order for the R1S. The phantom braking in the Tesla is bad and seems to be getting worse. If they could figure out that, I would keep my Y. Otherwise, I will upgrade to the R1S.
Does Rivian driver assist work on the street or only highway? If it works on the streets, does it stop at lights and signs or move on its own? Or similar to Tesla in terms of functionality? I was going to get the R1T but went with the MYP - for $69K. Had I known Rivian was going to use NACS, I would've went with the R1T. I love my MYP but I've always wanted a truck. I can afford to own a truck now that it can run off electricity.
The most significant difference between these two vehicles is their cost to manufacture. Rivian lost over $40K on every R1T they produced last quarter while Tesla earned $7000 for every Model Y they produced.
Thanks Gjeebs for this fair and honest review. Learned something new on Rivian R1T. My 2018 M3 still feels brand new due to the software updates. The pop up video turns red when there is another car next to you when signaling to change lane.
I own a 2023 R1T and a model 3. The software was better in the Tesla however my Rivian is a better vehicle and driving experience. The Rivian will improve with future software updates
I like Rivian but for the money I would get a Model S since I’m not a truck guy but if the Rivian R2s suv comes in around 40k I may get one for the wife to replace the Honda CRV.
Agree. While Tesla has done the hard work and pioneered all of it, paving the way for all others to follow… Rivian is still learning, still copying those things that matter, they’re a smaller company, still losing money, just about 5 years behind in many ways. But I would argue the second place leader. Ford is learning, copying too. GM is headed for a bailout. And Lucid is on death watch.
Of course someone with the name teslatalk42069 would think so 😂 I have owned a Tesla model 3 and just got an R1T. Price points are completely different but man I’m enjoying the R1T’s quality.. just absolutely love the fit and finish and also admit that Tesla has autopilot and software as well as super chargers. There’s pros and cons. I think I’m done with Tesla’s offerings for now with how good rivian is.
I just test drove a new M3LR Highland. Let me just say i don't even care about the performance that thing was so nice.
This is exactly how I felt.
Ya? I want to test drive it!

I mean the Cybertruck has a Powered Frunk.

The random squirrel moment when commenting about your old coworker and a stripper lol 😂
He does one of these a video but you can tell he doesn’t want to ,but he does it anyways lol.. it’s hilarious

Well now I feel we need more backstory on the whole trip to Mexico with the ex-coworker trip!
It's time to buy Highland!

What camera are you using for the 'selfie' angle while driving? Looks like a Webcam.

How’s the navigation on the Rivian? I saw some earlier reviews that people said it was horrendous. I’m sure maybe software updates have improved it?
Great video Daniel. When Cybertruck vs. R1T comparison coming?
Geneva has the next videos and reason I now have my second model Y!

@Gjeebs Have you noticed any black stains under the rear seat belts?
How accurate is the range in the Rivian?
seems to be very accurate I’ll have videos on this

Rivian's drive assist currently only works on the highway
Ok thanks
Where can I get exactly your tesla frunk cover wrap ? Thank you 🙏
Dynamic tint in Tempe AZ
You should consider taking that black wrap off the hood, does not look good. Great comparison keep it up.
It’s growing on me, actually

Your coworker sounds wild, how was the Mexico trip?
It was wild. I'll never go back
@@Gjeebs lol. It always is.
U look fabulous in purple ❤❤

Which car has the better audio?
Tesla by a little
@@GjeebsI would agree between my previous M3P and my R1T. My Rams Harmon Kardon system blows them both away though
You want an unbiased comparison go watch Kyle Conner from out of spec. He owns a plaid, model 3 and a r1t
The Cyber truck has a powered frunk
Model y is just a good car 👍
Why I said TMLR is 74kWt? It's actually 83,2kWt.
It says under the hood near my air filter it's 74kWh
CT has power frunk from factory
I like Rivian but for the money I would get a Model S since I’m not a truck guy but if the Rivian R2s suv comes in around 40k I may get one for the wife to replace the Honda CRV.
Rattle is a big deal, I hate rattle in my car.
The Cyber truck has a powered trunk
I know exactly what u mean about the slight delay in throttle response. I disliked that immediately
Air suspension = out of warranty trouble
I’m huge fan of both vehicles so it doesn’t matter to me

The price comparison is laughable
Cybertruck has a powered frunk.. just FYI
Cybertruck has powered frunk from factory.
Cybertruck has powered frunk
Tesla is still better overall no question
I adore my Teslas.
Of course someone with the name teslatalk42069 would think so 😂

Uh…cyber truck has a powered frunk
$100K and rattles after 1,000 miles? Ummm no. Thanks for the heads up. Taking Rivian off my list. Great video. Thanks!
Noice video.
When it comes to EV, I wouldn't buy anything but a Tesla or even a Tezla.
The cybertruck has a powered frunk now, so Tesla does have it in at least one vehicle now.
you making too many youtubes without checking your verbal facts/comments
Leasing isn’t owning
He owned model 3 and leased Rivian. Stop hating
Rivans front is so gay looking ruins the whole truck
Both these cars are leased. You don't own them. You are renting both of them.. Don't gaslight us.
Owns MY. Leases R1T. But who cares. Why you hating?
