    It’s sad that so many comments and videos on this are avoiding the fact it was 99% race motivated

      Lena Dawn you already know what it is. The nonchalant vibes from some of these comments make me sick. Can you imagine being around a group of Jewish holocaust survivors and touring the gas chambers and just being nonchalant about what happened to them in those camps?

      KymInDreamLand Actress*. If women want to be recognized and seen as equal to men, we need to stop erasing what makes us different. Nothing wrong with having different versions of words for the sexes.

      Same thing happend with former owners of the Lizzie Bourden mansion "Maple Croft". They were tired of tourist knocking on the door & taking pictures of the house. They put it on the market a couple of years ago. It was purchased earlier this year. If the current owners of the LaLaurie house haven't currently put the house on market, they'll get to it soon..

      New Orleans actually had laws, that protected the slaves, from "abuse". Of course, the only abuse these laws protected them from, was not more than so many lashes, no more than so many days without food or water... or from being tortured. At the time, New Orleans was well ahead of the times, in laws of slavery, treatment of slaves, and some slaves were actually removed from their "masters" due to abuse. The reason that these laws were even able to come about, was because New Orleans itself, had less slaves and more Freedmen, meaning more black people who weren't slaves... and some who owned slaves, themselves. So these laws were able to ease the pains of slavery, since it was impossible, at the time, to get rid of slavery. I'm very glad that this horrible way of existence has been abolished, and there are no need for laws like this, anymore... but in these times, then, these laws were needed and were actually upheld, thanks to many citizens who were already able to see that slavery and mistreatment of another human being, were wrong. So while there was no task force such as Slave Protective Agency or anything... everyone was encouraged to report slave abuse. Many should remember... around this time Madam Lavoue was a free black lady, who owned businesses, owned her own home, and was a famous Voodoo Queen.

    Incomplete. Her slaves had been taken away and she had others buy them back. Ordinary police took them away, not "slave protective services" like this guy said. Also she was an American citizen, born here. She had French ethnicity like a lot of people in New Orleans have had. All people in that city hated her for her evilness.

    When you buy property that has a "history", the realtor needs to disclose this fact. Probably something to do with a reduced value at resale. The buyers here must have known what they were wading into and I'd venture they used it to bargain the price. Anyway, this house is on Haunted New Orleans tours and famous for being featured on American Horror Stories. It's got a reputation that some piddley little plaque will not suppress. If you want to get all irritated at people for staring at your home, don't take up residence in a horror museum, fer heavens sake!

    This is probably the biggest legend in New Orleans that isn't true. The locals tell tourists the story, but they consider it a hoax. I grew up nearby, and never believed it.

    • @heidischultz6219
      @heidischultz6219 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      5Rounds Rapid Yes, the stories are far fetched. I am sure she severely mistreated her slaves. They were probably malnourished and in need of medical attention. She may chained a slave to a stove if she was angry enough. The woman in general did not sound like a great person and local aristocrats probably embellished a story to ruin her reputation.

    That's not the original LaLaurie mansion. The actual house burned to the ground while the LaLaurie's lived in it. There were also no medical experiments. Check out Victoria Cosner Love's book and research on the topic.

    • @TheCarpetbagger

      +Jrgnc G I've seen sketches that look exactly the same

    • @GeorgiaGeorgette
      @GeorgiaGeorgette 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There was no evidence of experiments; the person who first made the claims was the author of a book of ghost stories, and another operated a ghost tour business, so both sources have been discredited. However, Jacob is right about the house; the outside is original, as the interior was restored.
