Yes my thoughts are same fix new zip over and along side original zip had a strange rocket pouch a few year ago strange cam but it had double zips very good showing this gives ideas
I've had the same problem with my 40L Virtus Commander Daysack (they're the rare ones that are top-loading as well as front-loading - very handy that. For some reason made in Israel and cost an arm-and-a-leg new). Unfortunately, Virtus has moved away from the ICONIC rocket-pouches philosophy and don't do 12.5L pouches. So, then I got a pair of old DPM pouches 10L each (£16 in total) and a pair of zips from eBay (there's a seller who sells specifically these zips). Unlike your solution I've actually glued and sawn them right next to the stock zips (So that it's compatible with both old and new Virtus pouches in the future). 40+12.5+12.5=65L - a small 24h daysack can now turn into a very ergonomic full on Bergen when needed. Each of those 12.5L rocket-pockets can fit 7-9 days of food easily. Modularity! My next modification will be sawing in elastic mesh pockets on the sides (if I can find the right material and seller) - quite handy for quick access when in daysack-mode. Also thinking of adding some kind of detachable belt-kit, so as to transfer some of the load to the hips and also have some additional space in a form of belt-pouches.
Been toying with this idea for a while. (Didn't know that one side fits) But would it be possible to add the PLCE zip next to the Virtus zip so that you can still use both pouches. Mainly as I have a couple of sets PLCE pouches as well as my Virtus pouches.
That wouldn’t be impossible to do, but another option is to mod the plce pouch to fit the Virtus zips, the process for that isn’t that different to what you see in the video except you replace a zip on the pouch instead, and I think you should be able to use replacement plce zips to do that.
Bang on, that lets you swap the shitbin out quickly to a Virt or original Bergen quickly, say you're giving a mate your heavy tool/kitchen/scran bag and he has a newer/older pack, the rocket will have both zips as needed. That'd be my choice on that, mod the pod not the pack 👍
My R.C. Nun home ec teachers described my stitching as 'functional' lol and I've not improved over the years, make it work first and pretty later is my ethos :-p
I've never got to welding yet but the sentiments the same lol, Welder goes for an interview and the wages come up, Gaffa says well its between 17 and 35 quid an hour. They get him to do a couple of pieces and they'll decide his rate, So he goes out to the shop and brings back two jobs, the first looks like he just dragged it out the scrap bin, rust spots, bits of slag not wired off and the weld itself looks like a pissed up snailtrail. The second however, the second piece is a thing of pure beauty, gleaming steel, perfectly uniform and straight bead and the gaffa can actually see his reflection in each separate flow so he asks the lad what gives? This is shite and I wouldn't accept it from the yts lads, but your other one, that's what I like to see! Welder looks him dead in the eye and says thats what you get for 17 quid, and thats what you get for 40... Old joke I know lol.

Sounds like it’s going to be an awesome setup.
Hi, can you name the zipper seller?
@@gagui97 yep sure it’s contactleft.co.uk

@@OldNavajoTricks yeah probably is the better way as you say but I use the shitbins on another plce pack so better for me to mod the bergen 👍🏻
see my comment in this video. I did exactly that.

Yep that’s quite correct 😂 my welding is much the same
