Video of the Day! Wild Mustangs - A Legacy in 4K, the third episode in the HERO4: The Adventure of Life in 4K series. In a land of enormous skies and majestic valleys, Mustang Monument Wild Horse Eco-Resort & Sanctuary in Wells, Nevada, is home to over 600 Wild American Mustangs. Cowboy and family man, Clay Nannini, shares insight into the value of preserving the American Mustang while introducing his children to this icon of American history and a legacy worth protecting.
This video made me cry. I don't know why. If they were happy tears, then it's because this is such a beautiful sight, the way the horses trust the man and you see how man and nature connect in this simple way, in the middle of "nowhere" (ironically our idea of "nowhere" is where everything happens). If they were sad tears, then it's because of my personal yearning for a freedom like those horses, where we just run in a pack, in a group, as a family. One big family, nature and me.
I was once riding bareback on a scary horse. trail riding in a wash. she freaks out and starts spinning on me. im hanging on for about 15 seconds before she settles... I turned around and headed home and she got mad right after we left the wash! she starts crow hopping on the dirt road. I couldnt handle it so I jumped ship gripping the rien one hand it whipped out and she ran. she ran thru barb wire and got tore up but we caught her
I like how I’ve been doing this type of stuff all my life and I’ve been bullied and called a dumb horse girl all my life, but then RDR2 came out and everyone is like omg your so awesome.
): i am so sorry that has happened. i've had immense respect & admiration for horse-people my entire life, but because of living conditions & family finances was never able to afford one, or to learn to ride (fully, properly). i was fortunate to ride on three rare separate occasions as a child, & i used to earnestly pray to have a life with horses! as i got older, i kind of had to bury that hope. red dead redemption II reawoke it, & is pitifully how i can have a horse vicariously. even so, i am definitely aware of the constraints & limitations. all this to say, i think you're blessed & rad as heck, regardless of red dead's creation! horses & so much human history interwoven with them came long, long before red dead, & is so essential. we wouldn't have red dead without such history, the horses themselves, & the overall mystique involved in these things. 🥺 if anything, they need more people to care about them & their collective well-being as a species.
The modern world has made people hostile to most if not all of our roots. Don’t let their blind hatred get you down, you have a stronger bond with what really matters than they ever could.
when i was little i watched the movie "spirit" with the yellow and black horse stallion, and i would cry watching it because horses are so beautiful, I really love horses and i have always asked for a horse for christmas believe it or not,
They're not wild, they're feral. The one remaining group of "wild" horses is being reintroduced into the wild in Europe, but the Americas have no wild horses, just escaped domesticated horses. (That said, there's some evidence now that even the "wild" Przewalksi horse may actually be feral too, lost from long dead ancestors.)
The closest thing to wild horses in America are Nokota imo, same breed my ancestors rode on the Great Plains, if you’re interested the nokota breed has a very rich history & u can read about it here www.nokotahorse.org/the-nokotareg-timeline.html
@@ljcarey011 I seen the pretzel horses (as I call them bc I can't say or spell the name) I went to a wild life sanctuary for endangered animals in Columbus Ohio called The Wilds. Seeing those stripes on their leg and having one pick me was truely a touch to the heart
at my grandmas old caravan, there was a small herd of wild horses that lived close and the same grey mare had a new foal every year we came, and their herd grew and grew. i remember bringing them apples as treats and how cautious they were but eventually they came to us and i will never forget it
I have a horse myself and people ask me all the time why I like to ride so much. I always say to them, because it's the closest thing to freedom you will probably ever get. It's just you, your horse and nature. There's nothing to worry about, it just clears your head and you just get rid of all your problems for a while. But I guess they just don't know, because they have never ridden a horse. Sorry for my bad english :3

I never dreamt about having any expensive gadgets or toys or weapons or anything, but a beautiful Horse. This what you had in the last minute, I loved it...... They came to you. You touched the wild Mustangs. Adorable...
This guy clearly understands the importance and significance of our wild horses! No one, not the government, not the cattlemen and not the Bureau of Land Management has the right to drive them, or remove them from the land!!! Question: Did he say "look them in the eye," or "DON'T look them in the eye?"
WILDMUSTANGX domestic horses, yes. wild or even semi-feral horses will be very intimidated by being stared at in the eye as they're not used to humans or their body language. they naturally see humans as a threat and not a source of food or shelter
WILDMUSTANGX Technically these horses are feral horses and not "wild" horses. They are runaways from domesticated horses that bred. We technically were the ones that put them there a couple hundred years ago. Half of them are from military remount horses that were released. I don't like the fact that we have to round them up, but sadly we do. They destroy the land/ecosystem when they become too populated (since they are not naturally part of the ecosystem) and since we destroyed their natural predators such as wolves in these areas, there is nothing to keep the population from exploding except widespread disease. Thankfully, the collected horses make wonderful and happy mounts (for both english and western riders!) and the non-adopted usually go to long-term holding facilities which are basically as if they were wild again.
How amazing is this video?! The fact that he takes his boys out on this dangerous and exciting adventure is awesome. I'd love to live my life like that. And that he takes such a part at what we are doing with these beautiful horses.
beautiful, loving lovely horses....so misunderstood, so mistreated,so betrayed and sent for slaughter to other countries under barbaric conditions. Support the S A F E act
All these animal activist comments saying they abuse and hurt their horses blablabla. If they did the horse would have reacted differently. If abused they would literally fight back... pathetic!
Well, not necessarily. They people are not bad they're just VERY old school. Most people don't "break" horses like that anyone. And most have been trying to get away from harsh bits like what he uses as well...though it is still prevalent in the horse world. I wouldn't say they're abusive....but a tinnnssyy bit on the harsh side? Yeah. They have the right heart though. Like they're not being assholes or anything.
Horses can be controlled with fear. It's how they traditionally used to be "broken". This video doesn't show anything as bad as how it used to be, but it's important that people ask questions about how to improve animal welfare in situations like this, because there can always be improvements, and people working with animals will always make mistakes, and can always learn.
I swear the comments on horse videos are some of the worst on TH-cam. 80% are claiming abuse and the other 20% is people explaining that riding is not abuse. If you ride a horse right, you are not abusing it. If you are yanking on the reins constantly or using spurs excessively or any other stupid shit like that, then yes, you are abusing the horse. I'm tired of people who have never been on a horse in their life acting like they are experts on the subject.
I feel the same way, most of the people are arguing about spurs and reins hurting horses when the horses in this video don't look abused or hurt at all, these people in the video have been riding way longer than any of the ignorant commenters probably ever have and know what would hurt their horses. People should just enjoy the video and lighten up a bit.

Hola
Wunderschön das Video!!! ☺
First time I saw wild horses in Reno, Nevada, I was blown away! Wasnt sure what they made of me.
After playing red dead 2 I'm super into horses
Me too
Lmao super into horses would be riding them watching videos doesn’t count 😂😂
@@alexisrose5744 Not really. You can be super into something but not own it.
-A horse owner.
Bree M never said own 🤷🏼♀️ just saying I bet that person has never seen a horse in action IRL Or ridden one
Alexis R. Freeman ARF that’s a super dumb assumption. A very broad one at that.
خراي عليك
Is it just me or is the sound of horses homes really calming and relaxing?
Low stats. Better off leaving them. You can get the best horses in Blackwater and Saint Denis.
lmao true
The best horse is the Missouri Fox Trotter in Scarlett Meadows
Dornatum or the rose grey Arabian both great I prefer the Arabian
Imagine people seeing this comment and thinking that saint denis and blackwater are actual real places
Lmao
Wow Red Dead Redemption makes it look so much harder. Where's the part where you get on one and fly off because the horse ran into a rock?!
No trees in sight... these guys got it lucky
Horses are easy to ride if you know how
Oh, it happens lol. A lot of how easy things are depends on how great of a rider you are
I was once riding bareback on a scary horse. trail riding in a wash. she freaks out and starts spinning on me. im hanging on for about 15 seconds before she settles... I turned around and headed home and she got mad right after we left the wash! she starts crow hopping on the dirt road. I couldnt handle it so I jumped ship gripping the rien one hand it whipped out and she ran. she ran thru barb wire and got tore up but we caught her
@@marksutton3999 lol that's basically a rodeo horse then
I like how I’ve been doing this type of stuff all my life and I’ve been bullied and called a dumb horse girl all my life, but then RDR2 came out and everyone is like omg your so awesome.
Sierra R oof
Don't let idiots bring you down.
): i am so sorry that has happened. i've had immense respect & admiration for horse-people my entire life, but because of living conditions & family finances was never able to afford one, or to learn to ride (fully, properly). i was fortunate to ride on three rare separate occasions as a child, & i used to earnestly pray to have a life with horses! as i got older, i kind of had to bury that hope. red dead redemption II reawoke it, & is pitifully how i can have a horse vicariously. even so, i am definitely aware of the constraints & limitations.
all this to say, i think you're blessed & rad as heck, regardless of red dead's creation! horses & so much human history interwoven with them came long, long before red dead, & is so essential. we wouldn't have red dead without such history, the horses themselves, & the overall mystique involved in these things. 🥺 if anything, they need more people to care about them & their collective well-being as a species.
Them : you are awesome !
You : always has been.
The modern world has made people hostile to most if not all of our roots. Don’t let their blind hatred get you down, you have a stronger bond with what really matters than they ever could.
when i was little i watched the movie "spirit" with the yellow and black horse stallion, and i would cry watching it because horses are so beautiful, I really love horses and i have always asked for a horse for christmas believe it or not,
Spirit is whats known as a buck skin kiger mustang.
I still love that movie. 6 years after watching it the first time
There are still wild horses? A certain cowboy said that wild horses are already extinct. Thank god that ain't true.
The closest thing to wild horses in America are Nokota imo, same breed my ancestors rode on the Great Plains, if you’re interested the nokota breed has a very rich history & u can read about it here
www.nokotahorse.org/the-nokotareg-timeline.html
Sadly in the Americas yes the last one was a mare and her mate died from being shot I few a years ago
Why would they be slaughtered? In the UK they could be sold for £35,000 easily.
@@ljcarey011 I seen the pretzel horses (as I call them bc I can't say or spell the name)
I went to a wild life sanctuary for endangered animals in Columbus Ohio called The Wilds.

Makes me cry every time. There’s is nothing more soul moving them seeing and feeling a herd run. I hope to have the experience again.
6:16 Seeing the black and white horses run together reminded me of Toothless and the Light Fury from How To Train Your Dragon🤣
Omg ur right
Same xD
I was like: omg! Yin & Yang!! ☯
Fun fact: “white” horses are actually called greys:)

I think everyone should realize that we need to find a way to keep every thing on this planet happy. We need to find a way to keep all of the animals have a fair amount of land just like us cas all we do is take and take and take. We humans need to find a way to smarten up and make a change, a change to help all thing s on earth

Ah, the powerful sound of thunder, the wind blowing through their mane, the overwhelming sense of freedom...so incredibly beautiful.
Its so beautiful it makes me want to cry.
I think he said "Don't look..."
But they have big, beautiful eyes and you gain a better understanding of each other, if you look them in the eyes!
WILDMUSTANGX domestic horses, yes. wild or even semi-feral horses will be very intimidated by being stared at in the eye as they're not used to humans or their body language. they naturally see humans as a threat and not a source of food or shelter
You are truly correct!
I would die to have have a life like this even just for weeks man, horses are so majestic

because of meat! they kill them to protect beef lots just like how they clear out complete wolf packs.. made me stop eating meat

Now this is a once in a life time deal❤️❤️
Those are some of the most beautiful horses I have EVER seen
All these animal activist comments saying they abuse and hurt their horses blablabla. If they did the horse would have reacted differently. If abused they would literally fight back... pathetic!
Well, not necessarily. They people are not bad they're just VERY old school. Most people don't "break" horses like that anyone. And most have been trying to get away from harsh bits like what he uses as well...though it is still prevalent in the horse world. I wouldn't say they're abusive....but a tinnnssyy bit on the harsh side? Yeah. They have the right heart though. Like they're not being assholes or anything.
Goaticorn
Gille87 these people are smart compared to the pink pansy barn witch safety police which is a majority of the equestrian community
" If abused they would literally fight back... " sorry, I don't know any better way to say this, but you're wrong.

Funny how well behaved and sensible country kids are
"You're alright BOAAAAHH"
And I love that he is not raising kids, he is raising men. Our nation definitely needs more of that.
Welcome to TH-cam comments tho. Where people cry animal abuse/cruelty at every video involving animals. Annoying as hell
You will have to edit your comment now. 90% of the new comments are referencing Red Dead Redeption 2 lol.

I once had a young horse fall asleep with her head resting on my lap, truly an amazing feeling.
