    I just bought my new 2019 turbo all star Addition, was Amaze of the power from a four-cylinder turbo, trying out the 5.3 wasn’t too impressed a little bit noisier in the cab than in this new Silverado 2019, I am one happy camper! I went from a GMC to Chevy , same family , just different trims!I got 26 miles to the gal driving to the beach, Runs great for a 4 cylinder turbo!👍

    I just bought the 2021 Silverado Custom/Crew Cab/Short Bed (2wd) with the 2.7L turbo. This truck is by far better than what I had expected. I owned v6 and v8 in the past. When I did the test drive I couldn't believe the performance from the get-go. This truck meets my expectations and more.

    I have 2021 rst with the 2.7 and have been amazed...2k price reduction vs 5.3 and it has more torque during nearly all points of normal driving of 1500rpm to 4k rpm. Getting 19 city and 24 highway and get to hear a nice turbo whistle every time I tap throttle. Since 2019 to 21 they actually upped towing capacity to > 9k lbs since it cools so well. Hard to think there will be all these terrible reliability issues when they modeled the entire motor after its 3.0 diesel brother...just saying if you're not towing all the time and drive the truck as a daily vehicle mostly doing hauling...its a great option...2021 rst off the lot for under 40k in CT. Very happy thus far!

    Great video. Do one on the new 2022 2.7 with the increase power. 2022 numbers are 5.3l 355 HP at 5600 rpm, 383 torque at 4100 rpm and the new 2.7 with an impressive 310 HP at 5600 rpm and 430 torque at 3,000 rpm. So if you go with the new 2.7 you lose 45 HP but gain 47 torque. Very impressive what they are able to do with turbos and small engines.

    Leased April 23; GMC Elevation crew 4x2 here in Miami; Elevation is the comparison to the RST; Towed our boat week 4800 lbs to Key Largo. Yes we’re flat country here. With one high elevated bridge before entering Key Largo. No issues towing and plenty of power. But need the gas mileage Miami is a dense city and lots of traffic: I recorded and showed I managed to get 21city with the A/C on; But once Miami is once again running on all cylinders good chance I’ll avg 17.5-18.5 with A/C always on.

    People need to realize that these big engines are going to disappear. Trucks are even going hybrid or full electric now! I have a feeling the v8’s days are numbered as new tech comes out

      the bigger question is why even buy a truck if a 4 is all you need.....the 4 will not last as long if you do actually use it as a truck....there will be a lot of these bought and then traded .....

    • @skyline5354
      @skyline5354 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to factor in what the truck will be used for. If your hauling weight at the trucks max then ya probably the 4 isn’t what you want ...but if you’re commuting a lot and carrying loads once and awhile this is perfectly fine.
      Just like the Ridgeline (yes I brought it up!) is still plenty for what 80-90% of what people will use their 1/2 tons for, if that truck is not sufficient then clearly you need to be in a different class of truck all together ( 2500 +)

I had the 5.7 EcoBoost with 212000+ miles company truck and they replaced it with this one. I never got this kind of milage but it was fun to drive, think I will miss it.

    does anyone know the answer to this auto stop question? I occasionally travel the interstates and especially on I95 I get stuck. Sometimes I crawl and sometimes I will sit there for 20 minutes or more and not move an inch. My Titan truck does not have auto stop (05) model and it is 90 degrees plus and the motor is purring and I have the A/c going. If I had auto stop , the engine is STOPPED and have my foot on the brake waiting to inch forward how does the air conditioning keep me cool with the engine stopped? Can't figure that one out. Why would you not kill the battery. Compressor is running, etc.

    • @DaveBsellsChevy
      @DaveBsellsChevy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! In our early start stop vehicles, like the 2016 Malibu, the A/C would start blowing out hot air (which is crazy). It seems they now have them programmed to keep the A/C flowing. Also, if and when it does go into auto stop it is only for limited time (seems to only be a minute or two) before turning back on... there is also an Off button in the Silverado so you can deactivate it all together each time you start the truck.

    At the time of this vid, it would have been about 2.50 a gallon regular in southern ny, right now its about 2.95. Most people who cry about start stop still think engines work as if they had carburetors.
    What I don't like about this engine (maybe its the trans idk) is that at 60mph you're at 1400rpm. My 2005 buick with a 3.6L 4 speed at 60 will ride at about 1200 rpm, and I know it would go lower if the trans had a 5th gear higher up. So unless the 8 speed doesn't have a good high gear, which i doubt, this thing needs to chill at a very high rpm in order to maintain conservative highway speeds. Combine that with the DFM of the V8's and I don't see the benefits of this engine in any meaningful way

    • @james2042

      @@bendino9016 comment is 3 years old. With that said the thing has three overdrive gears, the fact the 0.65~ gear (I forget what the 8 speeds tallest gear is) isn't enough to get the RPMS down to like 1200 when just cruising is sad. The diesel and the V8's have a 3.23 which gets them cruising at 1200 ish. Mind you all three of those engines with that 3.23 run circles around this thing. And if you want it they offer the 3.73 with both V8's and the diesel, which make better towing gears than this.

    Correction, you ALWAYS need a 5.3L V8. There is no replacement for displacement. That 4 cylinder turbo will first of all start losing horsepower as it ages and the life span of that tiny engine pulling that big truck will die many years before a 8cyl. And the last time I recall a manufacturer making a 2.6L or larger in a 4 cylinder the engines blew up. 2.5L is really the biggest a 4 cyl should be.

It has v8 auto, 2WD, with tow mode,a/c (put in a Sirius satellite radio), cruise control , hitch with brake controller and bedliner. That's it and I love it. I guess the wheel tilts but never used it as it was ok from the dealer. I haul compost for the wife, all manner of stuff from the Home Depot, moved a whole condo worth of furniture,yard debris, etc. People won't do that with a 40 grand truck.
