it certainly expands the universe of Amnesia a fair bit and also underlines the magnitude of the rammifications that ocur when Vitae is misued and the Guardians wrath invoked
I've played Machine for Pigs and a little of Soma, but I always strayed from the rest of Amnesia thinking it wasn't the game series for me despite not ever really trying it. Watching these videos and experiencing the lore in such lovely, well-made examinations of both story and design, it makes me realize how much I've been missing out on just because I made a premature judgement. Thank you for these and the work you put into them- every upload notif feels like an event! 😊
I love how much rebirth expanded on the universe of amnesia but I still want to know more about The Shadow, there's so much that hasn't been explained yet and it would be super interesting to see where they decide to take it in the future
Amnesia: Rebirth and even a bit of The Bunker def have a bit of potential for custom stories like these for some reason, although seems like somehow only a few people are interested in doing so than The Dark Descent or even SOMA. I could prob change that with a few ideas I have considered. Also for some reason, despite a more Lovecraftian focus, the other world in a way reminds me of a variant of depictions of Krypton from Superman, with similarly both ending in discord and destruction.
Well I would argue the main reason why Custom Stories are not made in such high quantities as they were back in the day is because HPL3 is more complex then HPL2, which overall was very basic and easy to understand I suppose SOMA came out just in time for there to be some leftover enthusiasm but after 10 Years it seems the hype around them has died down a little there are of course some custom stories for Rebirth and I reckon there will be for the Bunker but they will undoubtedly take more time to make, on the bright sight, the custom stories I have seen for those games are all the more impressive in their complexity
@@umukzusgelos4834 mmm. Tho interestingly SOMA is quite still going far as I know in terms of modding since there's been a few of it coming out now or soon through this year or next, significantly with Penumbra: Prisoner of Fate last weeks ago. I think with it more sci-fi focused or more based on the world realistically, I think it prob is a bit more flexible to work around in. Funnily despite Amnesia: Rebirth (3.5) being in the similar branch as SOMA's (3), it somehow has more significant advancements in a way and like you say more complex.
I cant help but wonder if the red flesh, the shadow or whatever it may be called, is a sort of manifestation of the people the Vitae is harvested from. The vitae could derive from their hope, their happiness and the red shadow, the flesh, could be a physical manifestation of their anguish and pain, violently lashing out against that which would use their own emotions against them. However, it is also unclear if the red flesh actually kills the person it envelops in a traditional sense or brings them into itself. Is the flesh conscious of what it is doing? Is it sentient? Is it aware?
well the flesh it´self is more or less only one part of the entity it´s footsteps that it leaves in the world if you will is it sentient? more or less, it´s actions would suggest so, it´s not clear however what exactly it wants or what it´s endgoal is
@@aydinmakesthings Granted, TDD had a lot more time to accumulate that many and is less complex in it´s structure, making it more accessible to create mods
I always felt Rebirth deserved a lot more credit than it got. I suppose since it has a lot of high fantasy elements that people in the horror community didn't connect to it, which is a shame. I still wonder what Alexander could've done on his home planet that made literal human torture harvesters kick him out.
what stood out to me the most is that ingame documents even talk about how there was a debate at some point to shorten the pain cycle to improve the procedures reputation in the public but I feel that would just make it worse
@@umukzusgelos4834 By review, i mean a showcase of whats new with every monster, how their behaviour changed and allat.. I know you did an overview not so long ago.
I've always been fascinated by the culture of these beings I want to know their entire history, the name of their race and their involved with ancient human societies A trans-dimensional humanoid race with incredibly advanced technology while basing their culture and science on ancient philosophies of alchemy and royalty And yet, despite their knowledge and achievements they industrialised suffering and cruelty in the name of serving their empress and powering their entire civilisation and considered their barbarism as nothing more than a means to an end Ultimately, and ironically it was through the actions of one of their own who grew a conscience that sealed their fate and rendered their entire world as nothing but a lifeless ruin haunted by the scarred and deranged echoes of what was once their people Centuries pass and the fetid air still rings with the anguished cries of their legions of victims hopelessly trapped in an unending cycle of suffering and brief respites of joy that achieves nothing but to fuel the ignas fatuous that sprawls the dilapidated cities crumbling into dust
Rebirth has the coolest lore tbh. The otherworld stuff is bloody amazing
it certainly expands the universe of Amnesia a fair bit and also underlines the magnitude of the rammifications that ocur when Vitae is misued and the Guardians wrath invoked
love the subtle use of Alexander's alternative ending theme when talking about Ayandra
I considered using the default one for a bit but then figured, nah, that would be too much in your face...

rebirth isn't the scariest title but has a great story and atmosphere
well, glad to hear
You should definitely give The Dark Descent a chance

Thank you for making the subtitles last longer ! Keep up the good work :)
Thank you for the feedback
There are worse fates than death in the universe of Amnesia .
damn the lore of amnesia is really good. Thanks for explaining it

Great editing, very enjoyable videos! Some details of the lore I didn't even know of.

The Shadow is implied to be the universe itself.
I remember being so happy to see a workshop on Rebirth!
Then saw it had like 4 maps... vs TDD's hundreds ;_;

Damn this was a good one to watch; thank you supremely for this series as a whole though.
It’s been very enjoyable to watch overall!
Glad to hear

Sick work on the visual transitions man!! It helps set the mood and makes everything feel seamless. I love the attention to detail.
Thank you so much
Another great video as always. Also your written English seems to be improving substantially!
Thank You
God, the victims mind would be nothing but soup after all that overstimulation and drug use
indeed,
confined in narrow space, over-stimulation and constant memory loss probably would turn all of us into a mere shell at some point

still waiting on the soma brutal monsters mod review tho..
A full blown review huh...
well looks like I have my work cut out for me then
