- Watch along as Tyler walks you through the steps of diagnosing and repairing the power steering issues on a John Deere tractor. Removing the power steering pump can be an intimidating project, but the helpful tips provided throughout this tutorial video will have you tackling it with confidence.
Glad the pump shaft is available aftermarket because in the course of collecting parts to rebuild the pump in my 620, I got the last pump shaft in Deere's inventory.
I appreciate your video. You provided a lot of knowledge for me ....with helping remove the power steering pump. Thank you.
Nice job not only on the repair, and ancillary repairs, but also the video production. Quickly learning what a pain trying to video projects really is. We paint our parts and repairs too. Makes the real paint job later much easier since access to those areas are always limited.
Thank you for the positive comments, Shain! Good luck with your project!
Outstanding video. Great tips, very informative, well articulated and produced. Very helpful for someone like me who recently purchased a JD 2 cylinder tractor and who is trying to learn as much as possible about them.
great video! also during diag. check filler hole-p.s. fluid for bubbles as this is a sure sign, air is leaking into the system. also check shaft where seals run for wear. also a square tube wide front complicate moving radiator because mounting bolts underneath don't have enough room to drop out. keep these great video's coming !!
Thank you for the positive feedback, Allisdeere! We post videos a couple of times a month -- make sure you subscribe to our channel so you see them all as soon as they are released!!
nice video , very helpful . the other videos you shared were helpful to me as well. thanks for showing
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it!
Tyler actually used several fittings together to adapt the pressure gauge. You will have to take the bolt from the control valve and your gauge to a local hardware store to find the necessary fittings - we do not carry them here at Steiner Tractor Parts.
I just bought a 1958 JD 730. Did all John Deere two cylinders with power steering have a dip stick as you demonstrated? Mine has a pipe plug & no vent hole.
We have not been able to confirm this :(
Nice video! Very informative. Could you share a part number or location to find the fitting to screw into the control housing for the pressure gauge please?
You could take the weights off, but maybe you want to do a front end rebuild video as well
Along the same note...What is the correct way to install the vane seals in the cylinder vanes?
Does Tyler have a video of power steering pedestal rebuild on a 620 jd
Hi Buddy,
Unfortunately it looks like we just have the pump rebuild video at this time :-(
I put a thin film of neverseize on the splines when I rebuilt my fan.
I have a question on the630 John Deere steering problem, is there way I can contact you?
If you would like to email your question to sales@steinertractor.com attn: Tyler Buchheit we will forward it on to him.Tyler is not an employee of STP so we cannot share his email address. Have a good day.
Could you do a water pump rebuild for a 720
Milton we will add this to our suggestion list for videos :-)
i wish someone would make piston sleeves for a john deere 60
Unfortunately, Steven, they are not available at this time.
Not AS pretty as raecheal
Do you know what the part numbers are?
@SteinerTractorParts
The REP3247 manual would be helpful in locating part numerous parts (some that we offer - some that are only available at the dealer).
