We drove to Austin in 2007 and stopped overnight in San Antonio to take in the sights. That was the year Lake Travis flooded so SA was also feeling the effects - humidity was grotesque. On our way out of the town the next morning, we walked to the "Tower of the Americas" in order to to take a trip up and look around. We walked into the reception area and the stench of what can only be described as DEAD FISH assailed us immediately. We stood there pinching our noses and debating if we wanted to wait for them to open and ultimately decided there was no way. It was horrifying and disgusting. Honestly, I'd never go back there again for that reason alone. Never.
The restaurant turns as you sit… doing about one revolution an hour. The scenery changes as you eat or drink. Request a table at the windows for the most spectacular views!
i have a tip that will save you money. if you go to the tower, go in happy hour, tell the person in the elevator you will go to the bar area, the drink is 5 dollars and an apettizer too, then with your receipt with around 11 to 15 usd of consumption head to the elevator again and they will let you go up all the way up for free.
I went here about 10 days ago and I have to tell you it's totally Not worth it, this place is Worn out on the inside, Don't go to the restaurant what I'm about to tell you is very real when I got off the elevator to go to the restaurant on the very top The very first breath I took was pure mold & mildew, I was at the restaurant for about an hour Not only did I receive bad service but as I looked around inside the restaurant it looked like it was at least 20 years OverDue for a Makeover and the extreme mold and mildew smell was so overwhelming I would never go back and this actually convinced me to never go back to this city I would really never want to go back to San Antonio☹️☹️☹️
Terrific video! We had dinner here last week, and this video does a terrific job of capturing the tower.
Glad you enjoyed it
