You're so right about fear factory. In the 90's, Pantera and Fear Factory were probably the most influential, game changing bands in metal.

Dino is such a nice guy. Met him at the Texas Metal Fest in Houston. So nice. Took a picture with me. Fear Factory is the main reason I got back into metal in the early nineties. Grew up around nothing but gangster rap.

Low key when that album came out in 07 everyone in my metal friend group loved that record. It was also the first time any of us heard of Tommy Vext. Little did we know a decade and some later Tommy would rise to levels of popularity with that Zombie cover song. So many people around me loved that song and Tommy’s voice. Little did they know I was already well aware of his talents from Divine Heresy. It kinda sucks that the guy seems like a total douchebag though.

1:51:00 Love Dino and all the stuff he's done since I was a kid, but he was totally underestimatining Chris because I saw very decent girls literally asking Garza and some other guys from Suicide Silence and Suffocation to have sex and party with them and they turned down like gents and politely and I'm telling you first hand because I was there, Chris and the rest of the band are really likeable down to earth dudes with zero rockstar attitude or ego, we smoked a few joints and had a laugh in their hotel room and were just hanging out, I until that point sort of disliked Suicide Silence but they were so cool and humble when we met (and gave us VIP tickets) that we ended up having a good time and ofc me and my friends went to support their show at the festival they were playing the next day, really cool guys and brutal live, now I support them 100%, Garza is the humblest cause he didn't get into a competition with Dino about girls or interrupt him with his story.

Demanufactured's production sound was wayyyyy ahead of it's time! My son first heard that album back in 2020 and thought it came out maybe a few years prior (2017) and when I told him it came out in 1995 he didn't believe me...until he looked the albums wiki page up online. Also the Demanufactured guitar tone and Carcasses Heartwork guitar tone are pretty similar, even though the amp heads are different. First time I heard Demanufactured's G-tone I immediately thought of the Heartwork G-tone. Go listen to both albums and tell me the tones do not sound similar!

Around 1997 is when I started discovering bands also...I'm only a couple years older than you, Garza.. the album that started it all for me was 311's transistor. Then I was buying all kinds of CDs whether I knew who the band was or not and I got an overpriced copy of nine inch nails the fragile and it bored me so much I took it back. It cost so much that I was able to get two other CDs in exchange for it and I chose sevendusts home and fear factory obsolete. Best decision ever. That was my intro to fear factory
