- SHOPS TOURS by Monday Morning Racer stopped in at a familiar place, even since childhood, Gene's Speed Shop in Anderson, South Carolina. Gene Cromer is a legendary southeastern drag racer that raced in the pioonering days of drag racing. He raced his famed Moonlighter cars being an A/Gas 41' Willys and a Mustang Funny Car. Beyond driving he was a renowned engine builder for the strip and ovals. Along for the journey was his crew chief, Melvin Craft. Take a look inside the old shop and hear the tales from these two old drag racers. Enjoy drag racing fan!

Love that car, Gene Cromer, Melvin, and Quain Stott. What a rebuild. Wish someone would shake the money tree for Gene .. and get his 427 S.O.H.C. motor built up. Hard to race as a retired man, even harder to do as such with big inch Fords. God bless that man, his family, and all his friends !!!

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm glad I got Gene and dad on camera before they both passed. It was only a matter of time. I wish I had the channel sooner and got some of these stories earlier with fresher minds so to speak.

I'm from Anderson I never heard of this car until now.
Exactly why I did this particular video. More should know about the regional big name pioneers of the early days.
