Dio nailed all of his singing in one take, all while fighting cancer. The man truly is a god!
Crazy he maid it 4 more years after this movie RIP Dio 🙏
He inspired the lead singer of LILIAC, one of my favorite rock singers now, that voice is so powerful and deep. Dios wife heard their cover of Holy Diver and they absolutely nailed it so she asked them if they wanted to do a tribute to Dio and they nailed that too
This was filmed 4 and a half years before he was diagnosed with cancer!
You guys have to go watch the recording of Dio's singing part. He called Jack to say he'd do the film and was like, "yeah, let me know when to show up and I'll bring my mic." Jack said, "dude, we are going to be in a professional recording studio, they have plenty of mics." Day of the recording rolls around, and the sound engineer goes through like three mics during sound check trying to find one that wouldn't clip out. When the engineer brought in the fourth mic, Dio was like, "do you want to try mine?" And then proceeded to record all his vocals in one take. Like, what a fucking legend.
The park bench scene with the masked guys with codpieces is a parody of A Clockwork Orange ...an early Stanley Kubrick film which you two should watch.
Come and get one in the yarbles! If ya have any yarbles!
Yep-theres a LOT of intelligence, parody and satire in films like this and South Park that its a crime so many people don't "get". Right over their heads.
@@elcorado83
It is not over their heads if they have not yet had the opportunity to watch all the classic films that are referenced in comedy etc.
For many younger folks today, Kubrick's prime is 50 years ago.
I was born in 71 and in 95 when i was 24 I sure as hell did not know much about films from 1945.
I hope they get a chance to check out the classic stuff, and that is the nice thing about reaction channels is that some folks are willing to try and see what so many of us had the chance to see when we were younger.
I hope my Drogos have the yarbles to video it 😂
@@cesarvidelac They need to be getting the milk plus ready.
Dave Grohl played the Devil, an actual real life rock god. That's why the last song rocks so hard and he plays so many instruments. They kept his part secret until after the movie was released. Until people figured it out themselves. The Making-of Documentary is worth a watch. Really fun how Jack Black geeks out over working with his heroes.
Grohl is in the tribute video too as the demon, and i believe he played drums on the song
@@thamojster he played all the drums for their first album.
@@thamojster JB and KG are in the Foo Fighters - Learn to Fly music video too
@@WolfHreda One of the few time he plays the drums after Nirvana, it makes him think about Kurt.
Yes! The greatest musical ever! Thanks for watching this one! Y’all are champions!
Thank you. People think I'm crazy when I call this *EPIC* Movie a Musical.
I had to dislike once they said south park musical movie was better than this.... They don't deserve the metal.
Chris eargasming from Dio's voice is relatable as fuck lmao
Edit: Rewatching this, I just found out that they both did
Finally! SOMEONE REACTS TO THE FULL MOVIE!!!
Other people have done it but gets taken down by the tubes
It’s amazing y’all did this one. Subscribed. It is John C Reilly. In fact, this movie is based off of the original series on HBO in the late 90’s. It’s how Tenacious D, got famous, and John C Reilly played the Sasquatch back then. 😂 It’s amazing that he came back for this role. I’d recommend checking out some of the original episodes.
Somehow, Jack Black's mushroom trip is the most realistic, most accurate portrayal of a psychedelic experience committed to film, with the possible exception of Enter The Void (2010) which simulates a DMT experience. I don't know who wrote it, but they sure had fun committing it to screen.
How strong were your mushrooms lol
You can't kill the metal - Jack Black
The metal will live on
@@irishgamerkerrielouise Rock on amigo! Rock on!!!!!
Techno tried to defile the metal
@@Gumgumgamer009 But they Failed!!!!
Joe Biden is punk rock - Jack Black
I sometimes forget that Jack Black is in a band. I really gotta listen to his music. He has such great vocals.
I recommend "The Metal" it's my favorite and it plays a few seconds in the movie when you see "The Quest" tarot card
The "British" guys are a take on A Clockwork Orange (1971), one of the best movies ever, by Stanley Kubrick.
“I’ve had this birth mark since I was born” 😂😂😂😂
I feel like a lot of people overlook that line but it kills me every fucking time
Underrated line
Thank you for recognizing the Loaf, yall got big points there 😎
KG Soloman 5000 was a reference to Powerman 5000 the band.
Yeah, the British people in white long-johns with bowler hats and suspenders at the park were a callback to the movie A Clockwork Orange (1971).
Yes! Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece. NOBODY reacts to this. It should be conducted into the Film History Museum for the most bodacious opening sequence ever. Did you listen to the songs in the end credits? 'Cause those are killer.
"I miss that sweet-ass leg."
"Catch me if you can!"
*Hobbles away at the speed of molasses* 😭
Freaked out when they saw Dio, but didn't know the lyrics to one of his most biggest songs ever haha
This came out during my college years, so needless to say I've watched about a billion times😅😅😅 the songs are so great, so many quotable lines
They don't get high on drugs. They get high watching movies featuring people high on drugs
Idk black hat definitely seems on some uppers.
OMG!! I love this film. So glad you guys are watching it🍻🍻🍻
You do not realize how happy I am to finally see someone react to this masterpiece
🎵Two air-vents on the roof, that's what the guy was talking a-SHIT! 🎵
This is the reaction I didn't know I needed! My two favourite reactors reacting to one of my all time favourite movies!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the intro to this movie is one of the best ever made. Inspired by Jack Blacks origin, the way they put it on screen is absolutely LEGENDARY
I was waiting for you guys to react to this movie! One of the best bands ever!!!
I FUCKING LOVE THIS BAND THEY ARE THE BEST BAND PERIOD!!....
...my boss...asked me NOT to read this...😂
RIP DIO & Meatloaf
Watching to support the Gass Man right now
First video of this channel i have seen. Honestly, I want whatever they are on. They seem so full of energy. Honestly, it's one of my favorite movies, and I'm glad that you guys didn't rip on it and enjoyed it.
Pretty sure every kid went through a dragon shirt phase in the 2000s
Mine was elementary into middle school
True. But I was born in '88 the year of the dragon, so I still rock the scales. That and I love the mythology and teachings that utilize dragons as spiritual teachers ❤
@@DraggorLecanth right on man
Every song was a banger in this movie 🔥. I swear it feels like i was just in highschool when this dropped lol.
You loved this, you mentioned the southpark movie. Now we need 'team america'
I saw this movie in an empty theater, it was a huge flop, but it is now becoming a cult classic. The opening and ending of this film are epic.😂
Went to the cinema to see this the day it released. Arrived late and missed the start of the film. Went back the next day and watched it again, turns out we only missed Kickapoo. Worth it.
Finally got to one of the best culty rock flicks of all time. Grohl plays drums on all three albums, every song on the soundtrack and was Beelzebub/Devil. All the other silly cameos you have to find and they all crush it, whether singing or acting/comedy. Everyone brought their A game to Black's stuff cause it's prob so much fun for them. I saw it twice b4 realizing Sasquatch was one of my favorite actors. Impressed you guys got it right away. I just love this movie.
There are a lot of cameos in this, like Amy Poehler, Colin Hanks, Dave Grohl, but my favorite is Amy Adams (the girl who got brains blown all over her), who's gone on to be a major Hollywood star. Also, Ronnie James Dio's voice was so powerful that the first time he sung his part he blew up the microphone. Luckily, he had brought his own microphone, this NASA-tested mic that can pass the wind tunnel test of his vocal ability.
Maybe one of the hardest laughs I've ever had the first time I watched this and during the rock off KG just joyously sings "He's gonna rape me if we do not blow doors down!"
I love "we'll bend you over then we'll take you to brown town😂
FINALLY 🎉
some scenes were filmed in my hometown Long Beach CA 🫶🏻
i remember when this movie came out in theaters
Yeah came out since 2006 @kellsm23 but I’ve seen the movie on dvd and listen to the album a lot when I was a kid but yeah but I love the movie and the album the whole time @kellsm23 it’s a cool movie and a cool album a lot and I love it ❤
21:55 “he was just at a diner!” Lmao
I have a friend who worked in a Guitar Center and he said that Ben Stiller 100% looks like someone who would work at a Guitar Center 😆
People recognize Ben Stiller, Dio, Meatloaf, etc in the movie, but there's so much more big (or yet to be big) names in there.
The waitress that takes their order is a very young Amy Poehler, there's Tim Robins, Dave Grohl (The Devil), Jason Segel (one of the frat boys), etc
Adore this movie/ Jabbles and the Rage Cage!!! Long live the D 🔥 🤟
Their is no way i was just watching tenicous D new song Hit Me Baby One More Time when i got thix notifacation. Thats is crazy
There’s a band that was fronted by Rob Zombie’s brother called Powerman 5000 hence the KG Solo Man 5000. Also the guys in masks are a reference to A Clockwork Orange which you guys need to watch.
first ever to react to this ....legendary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TY!
First time I watched this, I was 11yrs old. My mum knew I loved School of Rock, we had a little watch party of "the new Jack Black music movie."... Just 11yr old me, my sister, my parents, a few friends and their parents... holy fucking shit was that one of the most awkward times of my life!! But I still love this movie 😂
Great movie
The devil was played by Dave Grohl 😊
That kid at the start channels Jack Black brilliantly
5:40 is a reference to Clockwork Orange
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU GUYS TO WATCH THIS!!! ITS ONE OF MY FAVORITES!!
First, thank you guys. I feel like I'm watching some of my favorite movies with friends. Second, if it wasn't mentioned yet the scene with the "British Dudes" in white is in reference to the 1971 film "A Clockwork Orange" Which I HIGHLY RECOMENT that you do first viewing. It's messed up and a film I grew up with.
the "British" gang 😅 are a reference to 'A Clockwork Orange'
I love everything about this movie. The HBO series is hilarious, too. 🤘🏽 Rock on!
The scene where he is tripping on shrooms going down the river made me fall on the floor laughing the first time I watched this 😂😂
I did not mean (he did not mean) to blow your mind (to blow your mind) but that 💩 happens to me... All the tiiiIiIIIiiiiiiIiiiiiiIiiiMe!!!!
your intros always cracks me up LMAO
If you're interested in the british guys in the park beating on JB, check out the movie "A Clockwork Orange"
I just noticed Fred Armisen was one of the security guards at the museum, love that guy, especially in Parks and Rec, ...it's all connected man
Referring to Tim Robbins as Tobbins made my night, thank you.
I had that exact shirt in middleschool ❤
Saw them on tour when they were supporting this movie/album. That Neil Hamburger guy opened for them lol.
This movie is goddamn hilarious 🤣🤣 I love how Tim Robbins who plays Andy in the Shawshank Redemption is the hobo trying to stab them. They are just like "we aren't coming over there, let's just run away" 😂😂
This is such a great movie. Love all the songs.
Not gunna lie they make a good duo in music
Hey dudes, the lick you mentioned as being "tasty" at around the 16:18 mark is used Tenacious D's song "The Metal". It is infact extremely tasty.
While recording dios part his voice was so powerful it destroyed mics
30:28 The best musical ever made is Metalocalypse Doomstar Requiem by Dethklok (Brendon Smalls). He put out 4 albums as Metalocalypse, plus the Doomstar album. And 2 albums under the name of Galaktikon which are great. Anyways, sorry for sidetrack, watch The Doomstar Requiem, the best musical ever made.
you guys are awesome, your reactions are just as entertaining as the movie
YALL PICKED A BANGER MOVIE
You guys have to listen to Tenacious D's first album. Many of the songs and sketches get referenced in this movie as part of their legendary origins. And the ones that don't are hilarious anyway. Dave Grohl (drummer of Nirvana and lead singer/guitarist of Foo Fighters) played the devil, a role he reprised from the Tribute video back in the day. He was also the drummer for that entire first album.
Ancient in 2006...gentleman that's when I graduated and I saw this in theaters. Such a fun movie!
lets get to rockin and blast off into great metal!!! rock!!!!❤❤❤
Snuck into the theatre to see this one. Still quote it all the time
My favorite movie of all time
“Who shits with a backpack on?!” No seriously, what psychopath does that??
29:19 Jack sounds exactly like Anastasia when he sings that run on "blow this f*cker down" lol
This movie must have been lurking in some writer's subconscious for many years. It's a movie you watch with your friends when you are all stoned and have three pizzas to be eaten.
Yessssss ive been waiting for you guys to react to this movie 👏👍
Awesome reaction of my favorite movie!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Yesss oh my god I was hoping you'd watch this :D
Watch 'Studio 666' with Foo Fighters, you're welcome :D
The mushrooms he ate were called "shrooms" because they make you trip, not die. The cards were like tarot cards.
I'm seeing the D for the second time in concert in Dublin. Can't wait
Just found out recently that young Jack Black is the older brother from the "Goldberg's " show
Yoo excellent choice for a movie jack black and kyle gas is amazing actors and singers lol
Me and my siblings had a blast watching this movie, and I was even more shocked to find out this movie didn't do well at the box office :\ I don't understand why some movies like this flop.
Yeah I went with my brother and there were 3 other people in the theater. We laughed our asses off the whole time. We couldn't understand why nobody watched it, but everyone loves it. Still blows my mind considering their first album was amazing. Why no media buzz?
@@jedlayton3169because people don't know when they have it good. when comedy movies like this came out they were usually panned by critics for not being an oscar movie. making fun of a "stupid" movie became the thing to do. now we barely have comedy movies.
Ahhhhh yes guys!!! This is the ultimate reaction movie lol!
The blowing up the microphone during Master Exploder was kind of an injoke towards Dio blowing out the capsules of the studio microphones when recording his parts.
He came in with his own microphone and they said that wasn't necessary, until the studio ones broke under his volume.
4:10 - Classico by Tencacious D made me never be able to listen to Sebastian Bach's 'Bouree in E Minor' the same ever again. Also, DIO recorded his part in literally one go, that's how epic he was. 5:39 was a callback to Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange, at least that's what it was going for.
Y'all ever tripped on magic mushrooms before? First time I saw this, I was on shrooms. Laughed my ass off. But that goes without saying on a mushroom trip.
10:44 I love how you both had the same Reaction as JB had 😂😂😂
Yes i never clicked on something so fast just finished a halo s2 finale reaction and.this came up!!
Oh man I'm so excited I haven't seen Tenacious D since it first came out what a great movie
Now THIS is a classic . Lets go boys great reaction
I got to meet Meatloaf before he passed… He was as awesome as you’d think… He and his wife were so nice … He even gave me an autographed picture I didn’t even ask for… such a great guy
Certified Hood Classic 💯
Incredible movie! Loved the reaction!
That has to be the greatest Mushroom Trip I've ever scene in a film😂🤣
Check out their song "The Metal". It's the last song on the album, and the very, very last song in the movie, toward the end of the credits.
The pizza delivery guy really seemed like love knife material 😂
