He inspired the lead singer of LILIAC, one of my favorite rock singers now, that voice is so powerful and deep. Dios wife heard their cover of Holy Diver and they absolutely nailed it so she asked them if they wanted to do a tribute to Dio and they nailed that too
You guys have to go watch the recording of Dio's singing part. He called Jack to say he'd do the film and was like, "yeah, let me know when to show up and I'll bring my mic." Jack said, "dude, we are going to be in a professional recording studio, they have plenty of mics." Day of the recording rolls around, and the sound engineer goes through like three mics during sound check trying to find one that wouldn't clip out. When the engineer brought in the fourth mic, Dio was like, "do you want to try mine?" And then proceeded to record all his vocals in one take. Like, what a fucking legend.
The park bench scene with the masked guys with codpieces is a parody of A Clockwork Orange ...an early Stanley Kubrick film which you two should watch.
Yep-theres a LOT of intelligence, parody and satire in films like this and South Park that its a crime so many people don't "get". Right over their heads.
@@elcorado83 It is not over their heads if they have not yet had the opportunity to watch all the classic films that are referenced in comedy etc. For many younger folks today, Kubrick's prime is 50 years ago. I was born in 71 and in 95 when i was 24 I sure as hell did not know much about films from 1945. I hope they get a chance to check out the classic stuff, and that is the nice thing about reaction channels is that some folks are willing to try and see what so many of us had the chance to see when we were younger.
Dave Grohl played the Devil, an actual real life rock god. That's why the last song rocks so hard and he plays so many instruments. They kept his part secret until after the movie was released. Until people figured it out themselves. The Making-of Documentary is worth a watch. Really fun how Jack Black geeks out over working with his heroes.
Somehow, Jack Black's mushroom trip is the most realistic, most accurate portrayal of a psychedelic experience committed to film, with the possible exception of Enter The Void (2010) which simulates a DMT experience. I don't know who wrote it, but they sure had fun committing it to screen.
It’s amazing y’all did this one. Subscribed. It is John C Reilly. In fact, this movie is based off of the original series on HBO in the late 90’s. It’s how Tenacious D, got famous, and John C Reilly played the Sasquatch back then. 😂 It’s amazing that he came back for this role. I’d recommend checking out some of the original episodes.
Yes! Thank you for reacting to this masterpiece. NOBODY reacts to this. It should be conducted into the Film History Museum for the most bodacious opening sequence ever. Did you listen to the songs in the end credits? 'Cause those are killer. "I miss that sweet-ass leg."
True. But I was born in '88 the year of the dragon, so I still rock the scales. That and I love the mythology and teachings that utilize dragons as spiritual teachers ❤
There are a lot of cameos in this, like Amy Poehler, Colin Hanks, Dave Grohl, but my favorite is Amy Adams (the girl who got brains blown all over her), who's gone on to be a major Hollywood star. Also, Ronnie James Dio's voice was so powerful that the first time he sung his part he blew up the microphone. Luckily, he had brought his own microphone, this NASA-tested mic that can pass the wind tunnel test of his vocal ability.
There’s a band that was fronted by Rob Zombie’s brother called Powerman 5000 hence the KG Solo Man 5000. Also the guys in masks are a reference to A Clockwork Orange which you guys need to watch.
Maybe one of the hardest laughs I've ever had the first time I watched this and during the rock off KG just joyously sings "He's gonna rape me if we do not blow doors down!"
You guys have to listen to Tenacious D's first album. Many of the songs and sketches get referenced in this movie as part of their legendary origins. And the ones that don't are hilarious anyway. Dave Grohl (drummer of Nirvana and lead singer/guitarist of Foo Fighters) played the devil, a role he reprised from the Tribute video back in the day. He was also the drummer for that entire first album.
First time I watched this, I was 11yrs old. My mum knew I loved School of Rock, we had a little watch party of "the new Jack Black music movie."... Just 11yr old me, my sister, my parents, a few friends and their parents... holy fucking shit was that one of the most awkward times of my life!! But I still love this movie 😂

The blowing up the microphone during Master Exploder was kind of an injoke towards Dio blowing out the capsules of the studio microphones when recording his parts. He came in with his own microphone and they said that wasn't necessary, until the studio ones broke under his volume.
Finally got to one of the best culty rock flicks of all time. Grohl plays drums on all three albums, every song on the soundtrack and was Beelzebub/Devil. All the other silly cameos you have to find and they all crush it, whether singing or acting/comedy. Everyone brought their A game to Black's stuff cause it's prob so much fun for them. I saw it twice b4 realizing Sasquatch was one of my favorite actors. Impressed you guys got it right away. I just love this movie.
Ok, so the scene of Jack Black getting jumped by the 4 dudes all in white when he first gets to California is a reference to a very famous film called A Clockwork Orange. It was based on a book, then the original author and Stanley Kubrick collaborated on writing the script, and Kubrick did the directing. Stanley Kubrick is known for his other films like Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Like all of those films, A Clockwork Orange is a little on the strange and a bit on the wild side. It also has a very controversial grape (minus the g) scene that is GRAPHIC AND SO HARD TO WATCH. But if you guys are looking for an artsy dystopian film that will leave you thinking, it is so worth the watch.
First, thank you guys. I feel like I'm watching some of my favorite movies with friends. Second, if it wasn't mentioned yet the scene with the "British Dudes" in white is in reference to the 1971 film "A Clockwork Orange" Which I HIGHLY RECOMENT that you do first viewing.
